So after wiping my system for a fresh windows install, I pulled out the backup.json4 and recovery.json4 from my backup drive and plopped it in place of sessionstore.json4

And all of my tabs and windows came back! So far so good!

But then after closing some tabs and moving things around, when I close the session out again, it doesn't update the sessionstore file, or any of the stuff in the backup folder to reflect those changes.

When I open firefox again it starts as a session with all my windows/tabs after the file-replace.

I use firefox for managing tutorial videos, which involves separating them into different windows/tab arrangements, so any tips on how to resolve this issue and get firefox to start updating the sessionstore would be appreciated.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/containers seems to suggests that it's possible to hide all tabs in certain containers, but does not explain how to do that.

"Hide and Show: Assume you use your browser for both Work and Personal tasks. When you come home at the end of the day, you don’t want to be thinking about “Work” anymore, but your browser is full of Work tabs. You can “Hide” your Work tabs and proceed with your Personal tasks. Then the next day, when you are back at work, you can “Hide” your Personal tabs and “Show” your Work tabs."

On an aside, I'm also getting pretty confused between collections (mobile), containers (desktop), sessions, tab groups, etc... they all seem to have overlapping but different functionality.

Dear Mozilla, please implement an "Open-Tab-Next-To-Current"-functionality. A bit better than in the Addon "Open Tab Next To Current". Because the newly created tab opens at the end and "runs" back to the place i want it.

i really want that feature. since so many years, mozilla team has done a great job but didn't implement an option or enable and disable opening tabs next to current.

Hi all, Super frustrating!! I have a few tabs open in Firefox, cant click the X to close them you have to really really be super accurate with the pointer to be able to click to close, same when I am trying to click on a tab bar, it wont move to another tab option unless I am really accurate and click on it right in the sweet spot, really annoying and only had this issue for the last couple days Latest update and running a Mac latest OSX Any help would be appreciated before I switch browsers again

Hi, I have updated to the latest verson 75.0, and I am a little uncomfortable for the default action when I open a new tab, the cursor focused on the address bar , and the address bar was widened and made a little shadow to the bookmarks bar which caused discomfort for me, because I always open website by bookmarks bar, no need for typing the full address in the adress bar. I have searched the config options but none is effective and also tried about:config, is there anyway not to widen the address bar or is there a configuration when I click the bookmark in current tab,it will open in new tab not replace the current tab .If it is possible by not downloading a lower verson,please let me know how to config it,thank you.

After i deleted the cookies and site data i noticed that after i searched something and pressed left-click, instead of opening the website in the same tab, it opens it in a new one and takes them, it is somehing that i do not want, as if i want to open it in a new tab i can just use the middle key to do it.

How to deactivate saving recently visited sites on main (home) page? Maybe with any option in about:config? Without using any plugins!

I have selected the option "Restore previous session". Normally, it works fine, but if the last Firefox window closed before was in private mode, it doesn't - instead I get the last sessions of this private window. I'm not quite sure, but I think this behavior was different (= Firefox restores always the tabs from the last non-private window) before one of the last updates.

Hi, Imaging that, firefox is open, I clicked on a button that opening new window, how I can merge this 2 window in 1, in fact I wanna have that new window as a tab.

Normally, if I click a pdf file on-line, I get the question to open or save. If I choose open, I get a separate pdf file in my Windows task bar to open. Yesterday, this behavior was different. The PDF file became a little icon in the bottom left of my screen, and when I clicked that it opened the pdf in a browser tab. Today this is gone and it is back to its old way. I prefer the tab. Do you know why this happened or how to get that back?

Hello, suddently after upgrading my Firefox Developer Edition to version 77 I noticed that my pinned tabs have sound icon again, which i previously disabled using

browser.tabs.showAudioPlayingIcon = false

Now however I found that it was removed here:

I made the mistake of asking to always open a site in a container and for it to remember my choice. Now I can't get it to open in no container. The context menu choice to "Reopen in Container" => "No Container" seems to ignored.

The issue: I have to different logins for a site (dev.azure.com). I open one in the work container and the other in no container. I didn't realize the open in container would operate only on the domain, which makes sense in hindsight. However, now the site is broken for one of the sites, and I can't find where to reset this choice. How do I do that?

My recommended by pocket feature disappeared after the most recent Firefox update. Im currently running 78.01 version. I also tried about:config and the browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.feeds.section.topstories is set to true, but pocket recommendations are still missing from the homepage. Your help will be much appreciated.

I just recently upgraded to Firefox 87.0 (64-bit) for Windows 7. Before the upgrade if I wheel clicked on a link it would open up in a new tab. Now it does absolutely nothing. I've even tried holding the wheel click for 10 seconds, still nothing.

I have verified the following settings in about:config; browser.tabs.opentabfor.middleclick=true middlemouse.contentLoadURL=false middlemouse.paste=false middlemouse.scrollbarPosition=false

When I was doing a search for related questions to this problem I found a user 3 years ago had a similar problem, and that they had an addition setting: middlemouse.openNewWindow=true. This setting no longer seems to be there. I have no idea if this setting was recently removed, and is the source of my problem, or if it was removed a while ago and my problem is the result of some other change. I have restarted Firefox twice, and even rebooted my laptop, in an effort to fix this problem. Nothing has worked. Depending on what I am doing I rely on using the wheel click HEAVILY, as it is much simpler to close a tab then to hit the back button 4, 10, or 20 times to return to where I started, or if I'm trying to keep track of what links I've followed from doing a search without having to re-do the search and hope I get the exact same results (with Google I never do).

At this time I am already heavily inclined to just return to the previous version of Firefox, despite how much of a pain that will be, however this is a recently released update, so I feel I should give the devs a chance to fix any new bugs from the update. That, and I won't have the time around work for several days, probably over a week, which makes it more practical to give the devs a chance to release a patch that fixes the problem.

After some update (I think from 89.0.0 version of Mozilla Firefox - this version with new looks of tabs) I notice flickering on the tab when I loading website or refresh website. This looks very strange. Like I said I dindn't notice any issue with flickering on previous Mozilla Firefox versions. Only with these new versions with new look of the tabs. I didn't remember if it was 89.0.0 version or 90.0.0 version. I don't know if it is problem with the machine but I didn't notice this issue on another computer with 90.0.2 Firefox version but with Windows 10 OS. I also noticed this issue with Firefox 90.0.0.2 with Windows 7 OS on another computer so I don't know if this is problem with two computers or Firefox itself. Can you help me?

I have once again lost all my pinned tabs. The answers to this I'm seeing are random and unstructured. This is becoming an issue for me as I use this function frequently. Can the Mozilla team PLEASE fix this properly as it appears to mess up a few folks. And the answer is NOT having to quit and restart. They should be presevered in their own right. And please can you implement synching of Pinned Tabs across my login domain. Ta muchly

Firefox Tabs and Menu Bar color changed to purple with the new version. How can I change them back to the colors I had in my old version which was White with black font?

I like to open all urls and links in a new tab because then I don't loose the original tab's contents. So I have set browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInTabs to true. Alas if I click on a link in the history library it still replaces the actual tab. I know that I can do a middle click or a right click to get a new tab but I would appreciate if I could set the standard behavior to open a new tab. Is there a setting for this?
