British Airways enable cookies page, essential cookies greyed out so can't log in. The other three cookie choices are live and ticked. This problem has been here for weeks - can anyone suggest what is wrong?

Usually when I start my browser for the first time, I have the Firefox homepage only. For two weeks ago, suddenly an extra tab show up when starting: A page with a commercial for installing "Avast Online Security & Privacy (Add to Firefox-button)".

I use Avast, but I don't want this add-on. And I certainly don't want that extra tab every time I start my pc.

I have three times searched for a solution all over in the Mozilla & Avast settings and on the net: I should go to "Add-ons and themes" - "Extensions" - and on the list "Manage Your Extensions" I should remove this add-on - but it's not there of course, because I didn't install it.

So how do I remove this tab from showing at start-up? (Google Search can't help) Appauling that someone put this tab on my pc in the first place. Both Avast and Mozilla have other ways to communicate with me about that add-on, if needed. Now I had to shut it down every day for two weeks, because I was way too busy to write you until now.

On start up this morning, Firefox was gone from taskbar. I found ff eventually but all my bookmarks and history are gone. Can I recover them? Why did this happen? Also missing home button

Having a problem with an mp3 content on all sites. In console I can see error: Error Code: NS_ERROR_DOM_MEDIA_FATAL_ERR (0x806e0005) Details: Error no decoder found for audio/mpeg

It seems like not a system problem, because I can open and listen an mp3 files in quicktime. And chrome browser also not having any problems playing an mp3 content.

Firefox installed with dmg downloaded from site, but also tried install with brew - same result. The problem occurs in incognito mode too.

Today, after browsing about whether or not I should continue using Firefox as my password manager, I decided to mitigate the most important security flaw in browser based password managers, by setting up a Primary Password. I choose to use an easy to remember 8 word long passphrase as my Primary Password. I noted down the passphrase in my diary. Due to problem while loading YouTube, I decided to restart Firefox by going to about:profiles and selecting "restart normally". This issue where Firefox starts to struggle connecting to internet is a relatively common occurrence on my Firefox install, and restarting Firefox fixes the issue. When Firefox restarted, I was prompted to enter the primary password. I confidently entered my passphrase, but it was rejected. I tried to typing to it more carefully several times. I got my diary and checked it to make sure I was entering the passphrase correctly. Following troubleshooting steps on a similar thread, I restarted firefox, no luck. I than rebooted my computer, issue persisted. I decided to restart Firefox with extensions disabled, and also in troubleshooting mode. Firefox still rejects my passphrase. I have my Firefox account synchronized with two Android phones. Will reinstalling Firefox and syncing with my Firefox account solve the problem? In a similar troubleshooting thread, renaming key4.db and logins.json is suggested. However, it has not been explained very clearly. My logins.json file was modified an hour before disaster, even though I had made no changes to any of my logins or the master password. Is my logins.json corrupted causing the issue? I will like to point out a design flaw in Firefox which might have caused the issue. I usually want to see what I am typing when I am entering an encryption password. This is to make sure that I don't mistype something. However, in Firefox Primary Password configuration window, there is not option to see what you are typing. Firefox relies on low probability of typing the wrong password twice. I don't think devs should be so worried about shoulder attacks to not even allow users option to view what they typing. My case might be that low probability situation where I made the same mistake while typing the passphrase twice.

This issue started with a (frustrating) set of steps following a page which wasn't displayed (https://www.ziggogo.tv/) - the screen remained black. Refresh solved it but the reinstalled plugins didn't show an icon and did not work at all. I de-installed Firefox, installed some old version from an update, installed all plugins and then updated to the latest version. Now finally everything seems to work- except that the 2nd and next windows show at a quarter of the size compared to the first whchi show correctly. I've tried everything I could think of with xulstore.json in the correct ..\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ subdirectory but nothing helps. I deleted it (which requires you to re-check that you want a menu bar),when I though for a moment it worked, made it read only (which means Firefox makes a .tmp version of it), manually changed the content (e.g. to "main-window":{"screenX":"4","screenY":"4","width":"3840","height":"2048","sizemode":"maximized"}}} matching my 4K monitor but nothing helps. And no, Ctrl click the Close button doesn't help either.

I suspect that it is a (maybe reintroduced) bug in a later build. I don't update often and I haven't seen this issue before.

Anything I can do which I haven't tried?

I just built a new computer and installed windows 11. Reluctantly coming freshly from windows 7, I have tried and done many things and tweaks to suit my needs more, so I am aware one of those things might be the issue, but I have no idea which, if any. My issue applies to any browser I have tried, not just Firefox. It started randomly and I cannot remember what I did last or exactly when it started happening, a few hours ago is the best I can say. Whenever I right-click while in the save-as window, that window closes and often the window last used minimizes. The browser itself does not crash; however, Firefox is unique in that it does crash but also the only one to notify me and allow me to give out a report, which I did. Also to note; this issue does not happen in every folder on my computer, and even that seems random, not limited to a certain drive either, or permissions and such. The browsers I have tested are Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Firefox.

I also have tried multiple windows recovery points, none of which mattered (and I know for a fact the issue didn't occur at the time of one point I tried, yet it did even after that recovery). Also scanned my computer for threats and nothing was found. I'm not sure if this is within the scope of help to receive here, but I can't find anything about this and since it is rather bizarre, I don't reckon it's a well know issue. Any help is very appreciated.

I use the closed captions (CC) in YouTube videos with FireFox. Lately I have been seeing videos that seem to misbehave. At the very start of the video, ALL the captions display at once, one after the other. Then, as play continues there are no more captions. Most videos still show captions normally, that is, captions appearing only when the dialog matches them. But a few videos misbehave by showing all the captions at once. Here is one such video.

I noticed this misbehavior within the last month and assumed that the video was doing something peculiar with the timing of the captions. But when I use the YouTube Show Transcript option to display the captions and associated timing outside the video, the transcript looks quite reasonable.

One further oddity, if I take that same URL and load the video in a different browser, for example, Chrome, the captions are displayed normally.

I've included a screen shot of the video in YouTube showing all the captions displaying at once.

When I reopen the browser, it's just an empty new window. I am able to reopen them in "History" > "Recently closed windows", but it's extremely annoying to do this every time. Is there a way to fix it? It was fine like two weeks ago or so and my settings seem okay. I can't find the solution in similar posts here.

I have an issue that about:config > browser.link.open_newwindow keeps setting itself to '2', so I have to repeatedly go in and reset it to '3'.

Not entirely sure what could've caused this, all I've been able to find is this here support article with another bloke having the samme issue, but what seemed to be only once.

I haven't done much in way of troubleshooting, as I'm not really sure how to go about doing that for a browser.

If I had to guess, it would be either something updating, or an extension yanking my chain, so here's the list of every extension I have installed:

Starting on 12/1/23 Firefox browser on Windows PC is Not Responding while loading up bookmarks toolbar. Switching to "Never Show" is only way to load the browser. Trying to open or manage bookmarks freezes up the FF browser again.

I have been using Firefox and GoToMeeting for years, suddenly this month (July 2023) I get the following message when I try to open a GoToMeeting session”

“Sorry, this browser isn’t supported. Join in your browser by opening the link below in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.”

I don’t want to use either of those browsers.

What can I do to keep both Firefox and GoToMeeting?

What has happened to typing and viewing the content of the search INSIDE the Google search box? Why this does not work now and the search moves to the address bar where it is tight and one cannot see all content of the search? Why have you done this? How can I bring it back please? I hate is as is now.

When visiting some smaller and less known websites on my computer it shows the error message "connection has timed out" but on my laptop it loads just fine. Both run firefox and are sync'd with the same configuration and extensions. I already tried the troubleshoot mode and also checked the firewall. Is there anything else I can try to fix this?

Over the years I have accumulated important links in my Firefox Bookmarks bar and passwords file and it would be a disaster if for some reason my hard drive got compromised and I could no longer access them. Is there any way to copy the data to another set-up, independent of my laptop, from where the data could be retrieved in a usable form for display on another laptop or PC? Thanks.

I am running Firefox v 120.0 (64bit) on Windows 10 Pro version 22H2 OS build 19045.3570 and today Firefox has stopped playing the video track on youtube videos or any video that is embedded in a page. Audio works but the screen just shows a blank field of green. The progress bar will show frames from the video. IF I run Firefox in trouble shooting mode the videos play as normal with video and audio tracks.

I have already refreshed fire fox and uninstalled and reinstalled it but the video track is still a blank field of green in both full screen and small screen modes.

Anyone have any ideas on what configuration setting may be causing this? Thanks in advance, Brocky

I can sign into YouTube ok, and the pictures of the video's are ok, but whatever I try to watch I get a green screen and just the video sound? It started happening yesterday. I am getting fed up with YouTube and the issues it has with Firefox. I'm having to use Microsoft Edge to watch videos. I've done the 3 resets it says on the support page, but still have the issue. Hello, my bookmarks including the bookmarks bar have disappeared, within just a few hours of them being visible. When I clicked on the View menu button and selected Toolbars, the setting was somehow changed to Never Show. I changed it back to Always Show, but I'm curious how it would change itself to Never Show. I haven't completed an OS update for several days, and this incident just occurred today. All day long, my bookmarks were present; I turned off my computer about 5PM. When I turned it back on about 8PM, the bookmarks were gone. Help and thank you.
