Although I have disabled all relevant "sync" settings in Firefox, the browser is still syncing tabs across my MacBookAir and my iMac.

To make matters worse, tabs in Chrome and Safari sync to Firefox tabs across devices as well. The sync occurs in both directions.

I am not logged into Chrome or my gmail account.

Specs: MacBookAir: early 2015/ OS v. 12.7 (Monterey) iMac: Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017 / OS 12.6.8 (Monterey)

Things I've tried:

  • Turning off syncing in Firefox on both devices.
  • Signing out of Firefox from both devices.
  • Disabling "sync open tabs" via Firefox preferences
  • Renaming devices from within Firefox Sync. (The name always reverts to the previous one.)
  • Reinstalling Firefox
  • Deleting cache from both Firefox and Chrome.
  • Restarting

Images are from toolbar on iMac when Firefox is open on both computers. Any help would be most appreciated! Thanks!

I can access all my desktop bookmarks on my android phone, but when I bookmark on my phone is doesn't sync to the PC.

- I have sync turned on both - Bookmarks toggled on both - I am signed in - I have clicked "sync now" on both devices multiple times - I have un-bookmarked and re-bookmarked pages multiple times - I open up "search bookmarks" on PC and type the mobile website name and nothing comes up - I try and edit the location of the mobile bookmark into "other" or "toolbar" etc and that doesn't make it appear

I was trying to create an account for the first time to use Firefox sync on a different computer and I guess I must have either somehow entered my age wrong or be having some weird error. Now when I go to click sign it it still says I cannot create an account due to age requirements. I have made this account on my other computer, but I am hoping to still be able to sync my browser from the computer that is having this problem.

I'm locked out of my Firefox account. I set my previous employer's email address ([edited] @cdolinc.net) as my primary email address, and my personal email address ([edited] @gmail.com) as a secondary email address. I attempted to reset my password using the password reset email that was sent to my secondary email address, but after I enter a new password twice and submit it the page reloads with the following error message:

Your email was just returned. Mistyped email?

I'm sure my previous employer has an out-of-office email setup to indicate that I no longer work there. Is there anyway to resolve the issue without asking my previous employer if they can turn off Out-of-office replies temporarily?

Thank you, Sean

I'm the tech director (tech janitor) for a public school that is using Securly.com for their Internet filter. Securly requires installing their own certificate so they can be a man-in-the-middle. I've installed that cert into Firefox and that works fine. However, even with that cert installed, Sync doesn't work when I'm behind that filter. As soon as I take one of my computers off the school network, everything will sync up. I don't get any errors that sync is failing, it's just not working. Any ideas on how I can fix that issue?

Thanks!

I had a hard drive fail and needed to do an entire new install. One of the very first things I do is install firefox and sync so I have all my sites tabs and passwords.

I did this and got the Secure connection failed errors instantly thereafter. no reboot nothing fixed it. Bing chrome opera all fail to work. refusing all secure connections. It will load microsoft but I cannot log in. It will load 1000 other sites as long as they are not the SSL pages. No other browser will load either.

This is instantly after signing in to sync.

I was left with no choice but to assume something got corrupted and wipe and redo windows AGAIN on this new drive.

This time I downloaded everything with bing and edge. Then when I was done after two days. I downloaded FF and tested it.

Worked great.

Signed into sync and BAM, all browsers and all websites refuse connections.

I have signed out of sync. I have deleted firefox. I have cleared SSL and DNS and every other setting I can think of or that chat gpt suggested. from cmd line. hard.

No remaining browsers will load. New firefox with no profile and no sync will load.

Whatever sync DID remains totally systemic and persistent and ONLY a total wipe of the drive fixed it last time.

Why will FF simply DO something like this and WTF did it do?

Hi there, my name is Damjan J, and I take care and manage my 80yo mother account registered to [edited] @gmail.com email address.

Namely I noticed that FF latest version fails to remember passwords and logins although this option is ENABLED.

We need this matter fixed ASAP for I can't physically be at the spot all the time entering numerous usernames and passcodes.

Thank you

A few days ago links in messages stopped working in Outlook (Microsoft 365) on my Windows 10 Pro 64-bit PC.

Good ol' Microsoft support reset Firefox on the PC and I lost all bookmarks, history and personalized settings. Tried to copy data from Old Firefox Data file into profile on reset Firefox. Didn't work. Uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and tried to copy data from old profile to new profile. Nada.

Only option now is to try to sync Firefox on my Mac to new install on PC. I'll still lose some bookmarks and history but it will be better than what I have now. I have a Firefox account on both devices but when I log in to Firefox on the Mac I cannot find anything pertaining to sync.

Problem one: how do I navigate to sync in Firefox for Mac. Problem two: when I bought the Mac 6 years ago I tried to sync Firefox on my PC to the new Mac. For some reason Firefox synced the empty new profile on the Mac to the old PC. I lost all bookmarks and history accumulated on the old PC! I do not want to go through that again.

I have never found anything on Mozilla that clearly explains how to control which way the sync works. Must be certain that I'm copying all the bookmarks, history, tabs etc, from the old device to the new on and not vice versa.

I was using firefox sync across multiple devices, but at some point in the past few months, i got locked out on one device due to too many wrong tries (i THINK. something went wrong anyway), and now, i am logged on on only 1 computer, and none of my passwords (even the one currently saved in my password manager, 1password) work when trying to log into other devices. using the QR scan from firefox/pair page on my ph doesn't work either. so, now i'm afraid of getting logged out from my main computer and then losing access to years worth of bookmarks & folders & plug-ins etc. unfortunately, when i went to try & add a back up email for my account, it was too late...it kept asking me to log in to do so, and my password isn't recognized anymore (or i maybe inadvertently changed w/ a typo inserted?). i was thinking about just trying to download all my bookmarks, deleting my current account, and creating a new one...but then i need the log in to delete the account. i want to keep the same email for the user name, since it's my main email.

i am at a loss as to how i can get around this impasse.

Recently I activated 2FA on Firefox. I scanned the barcode by Google authenticator, to make it my code generator.

I'm now trying to enter Firefox on my laptop. After typing my password, when I try to enter one of the generated Google Authenticator codes, I constantly get a response "Invalid code".

I had to use one of the backup codes (out of the 8), and managed to enter my account on the laptop, but none of the logins and passwords were found there (it's empty).

My first question is why does Firefox reject the codes received from Google Authenticator (do I have to cancel my 2FA and define it once again? but I did everything by the book, with GA, and it seemed fine the other day).

My second question: I finally managed to enter my account with one of the eight backup code. Why are there no passwords etc? Aren't they automatically drawn from my usual (existing) account?

The laptop runs Win 10. I installed the 2FA on my main computer, which runs Win 11.

Thank you very much in advance, Eldad

Hello,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to request the deactivation of my Firefox account associated with the email address stelios.polkas@ticketmaster.gr.

Regrettably, I have encountered an issue with my account due to the loss of my mobile device, which contained the necessary authentication for 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication). As a result, I am currently unable to access my Firefox account or any associated services.

I kindly request your assistance in disabling the 2FA authentication on my account, allowing me to regain access. Once this has been resolved, I would like to proceed with the deletion of my Firefox account altogether.

Please let me know the necessary steps to complete this process and any additional information you may require from me.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
