I wanted to customize my Firefox new tab with a local HTML file, such as "/path/to/my/index.html". It was possible to use this workaround: https://github.com/Jangsoodlor/Firefox-New-Tab-Config/tree/main https://github.com/Jangsoodlor/Firefox-New-Tab-Config/tree/main

Which implied a configuration file (sometimes named "autoconfig.cfg", "firefox.cfg", "local-settings.cfg" depending on the guide since the name is arbitrary) with javascript code. In the new Firefox 136, this code fails to execute due to a new API being used.

If you want to customize your new tab, follow the previous guide, but on the configuration file write this code instead:

I post this here in case someone has the same issue, because is quite recent and hard to find on the internet.

New installation of Debian 13, Firefox setup with sync on successful. However, I wanted to add hone button and a few other mods to the toolbar but when I started customize the toolbar from menu pic the customization page would not work, it appeared and seemed OK but when I dragged and dropped anything it would not work. I could pickup items but they would not place in toolbar and just snapped back to the pallet. I tried several different ways to enter the customization area but it was always non-functional.

Please add a Custom wallpaper options, Your browser has been the best so far i have used many browsers but i would love to have a custom wallpaper option and live wallpaper option too if possible just like operaGX has. Anyone can upload a wallpaper there.

Firefox is the default browser and pinned to the taskbar. When clicked, Firefox automatically opens places an additional icon in the taskbar. Once Firefox opens, in the second icon, any new links open in tabs, which is my preference.

The first image is the pinned icon in the taskbar. When hovering it only displays Firefox. The second image is the additional icon, when hovering over this icon the active page thumbnail is displayed.

Prior versions of Firefox did not have this behavior on my Windows 11 desktop PC. I've tried various settings in about:config but cannot resolve this issue. Is there some reason two icons are now required in the taskbar when running Firefox?

can you give us the option to change the hotkeys/shortcuts please? is it possible for this to be an option for the future, I and I believe a lot of others switching from chrome to firefox would like the accessibility to change it as to what they're used to. Thank you very much for your time.

Is there any way to disable the ai summary feature on the mobile version of Firefox? I despise it , and if Firefox continues adding ai features, I’ll just uninstall

When using the the chat especially when on either of my laptops. I think it would be useful to be able to minimize/hide the chat but not have it completely close so you can stay in the same session.

In my head I see it working by adding a simple minimize button next to the close button. When it minimizes, the icon for the chat can stay highlighted to alert that it is still active. Also, when switching from chat to other options like bookmarks, history or tabs. If there is a current chat open it should use the minimize behavior so the same chat is still active when you navigate back. So essentially the only time the chat closes or resets is when you close it.

There is a 'feature' in Firefox that I think is called "click and hold context menu". Basically if you left click on something and hold the click for a second or two a menu appears that offers an AI generated list of suggestions related to the thing you were clicking on. How do I disable this? In searching I have found suggestions to open about:config and set the value for ui.click_hold_context_menus to false, which I have done a few weeks ago now and it has no affect. I also tried changing the related value of ui.click_hold_context_menus.delay to an insanely long time, but that also had no effect.

I would appreciate some guidance on how to turn this off. This is problematic enough that I may have to switch to another browser if this can't be disabled. Thanks! Attached is a random example of one of these context menu's that appears when clicking and holding on a link.

Today when I opened firefox I was greeted with a chat gpt bot on the left side of my screen. I don't want chat gpt any where near my computer. Please tell me how to remove that part of firefox from my pc.

I have a Snowflake add-on, which requires WebRTC for connections. But WebRTC is not permanently active in my Firefox browser. See image. I activate WebRTC by toggling the config variable media.peerconnection.enabled into 'true' and the add-on works. For some time, only! After a couple of days it is back to 'WebRTC not detected'. What is wrong?

I despise ai in every use and way with a passion. Now, it gets spammed everywhere on this browser, with no apparent way to disable and/or remove that filth. I don't want to see it, ever! Why is it even on by default??? I don't want "chatbots", "Ai assistants" or any of that shit at all.

When right-clicking on the Firefox icon in the Windows task bar one has the option to "pin" items by hovering over an entry in the "frequent" list and clicking on the little pin needle icon (with the hover text "Pin to this list").

How can I pin items that are not in the frequent list? I have tried for weeks to make an important page a frequent one by making sure to visit it daily but it never makes it to the list.

Is there a way to turn off the “shake for AI summary” function on IOS? It doesn’t add anything to my experience, and more often than not, I end up accidentally shaking my phone and getting a summary I didn’t ask for.

If there’s a way to completely turn off the AI features, i’d like that too I’d prefer if my browser didn’t summarize the websites I visit in a way that can be inaccurate or lie to me.

Mozilla, please just remove these features entirely. If we want AI, we can go to ChatGPT or another website, I just don’t want it added into everything I use all of a sudden.

Every time I login on my computer, there is already an open Firefox webpage with a dialog box asking me if I want Firefox to be my primary default browser. Once I click "Set a Default Browse", a Microsoft Edge webpage appears giving me a list of choices of Microsoft application to select to be my browser. Firefox is not on the list. There is also a dialog box that appears on the lower right corner of the screen showing me the steps on how to make Firefox my default browser. The choices are "Show Me How" and "No Thanks". When I click the "Show me how", I am taken to Firefox setting, once I click the "Make Default" I am taken back to the list of Microsoft applications to choose as my browser. The bottom line is I cannot make Firefox my default browser anymore. In fact, I am not even sure if I am sending this message to Firefox or Mozilla. Hi! I'm on a relatively new to me (refurb) desktop computer running Win 10 Pro (64 bit)* and Firefox 143.0.3.

In the past week both Firefox and Win 10 have updated. I don't know what happened, but now when I boot up or reboot, my computer opens to MS Edge. Yuck!

Every single time I have to reinstall Firefox! Once I do that, all is well again. I have all my bookmarks back, etc.

It also keeps changing my "default to Firefox" browser setting, turning it OFF, while I'm using Firefox. I repeatedly have to keep going in and clicking to make FF to the default browser again.

Why is it doing this? How do I stop it?

Anyway, I know I can't delete Edge or uninstall it. How do I shove it back into the black hole it has lived in until now?

I often use the key combination Ctrl+Alt+X in Google Docs when on different devices but it doesn't function properly when instead it brings up the AI sidebar gadget. Removing the sidebar button doesn't really help and it's annoying. So how exactly do I turn off the key combination for the sidebar?
