FINALLY got my zorin os to update, and now also have the newest version of firefox uploaded and working. My singlefile addon works properly, I have upgraded to the newest versions of my video downloaders, and I have cleared my history, but my 2 video downloaders still don't recognize any videos on youtube. Any suggestions or alternative downloaders?

apparently, programmers don't understand how aggravating not having backward compatibility is to the rest of us, so please bear with my extreme aggravation here. IF IT AIN'T BROKE, QUIT FIXING IT.

firefox disabled my addons, thus forcing me to upgrade, and now I am angry. Tried downloading the new version several times. My os is as updated as it can get. Using the APT link from this site, it just shows garbage. Using the download for linux 64 bit link, it makes me jump through hoops and looks like it is working, but it looks different and none of my bookmarks transferred over. Closing it down and reopening it, I see the old version, thus making it look like I am possibly running both versions separately. Once the *all new singing and dancing special that is supposedly so much better than the old that some ignoramus decided I MUST use it instead of the old and functional one* is closed out, I see no way to reopen it. And neither version will enable or allow me to download singlefile. That is the only program I need from firefox at this time.
Will somebody please show me, step by step, as if I am 5 years old, a back door that will enable my addons, before I go nuts and start beating programmers to death with reams of algorithms?

Hi everyone I have Firefox 110. My husband installed it on my laptop. He died 2 years ago :( It does not automatically update. I can't update because I don't have his administrator password. Or any other useful passwords :( And I have never done anything geekish before; I am only a user. Please can anyone explain in words my mother would understand what to do with the Firefox 136 .tar file. Or even better how to work around permissions so I can get automatic updates. Pete and I worked together well to set up www.pcurtis.com but I never learned the systems stuff - I never needed to when he was alive. I am a retired academic. Anyone in the Oxford UK area who could help would be really useful. As an emergency I have just started to use the Opera browser he installed but I have no passwords for that either.... Pauline

After updating FF to v. 136.0 in Linux Mint 22.04, I noticed a problem with video playback in Facebook in some posts. A black screen appears with the message "Sorry, there were problems playing this video". The problem also occurs after disabling all plugins and deleting the user.js file from the profile. The problem does not occur after starting firefox in troubleshoot mode, but then hardware acceleration using the GPU does not work (Compositing: WebRender (Software)). I noticed that in version 136 there were some significant changes in the topic of video decoding. https://www.phoronix.com/forums/forum/software/desktop-linux/1524008-firefox-136-beta-finally-enables-hardware-video-decoding-for-amd-gpus-on-linux-by-default I have an NVIDIA GT1030 GPU with 2 MB VRAM.

using 64 bit Linux here.

I download an update, but it doesn't do anything. It constantly tells me I need to download an update. Currently using 133.0.3

I managed to get an update through Linux, but now I'm having trouble with Linux. I suspect I need to remove Firefox and reload it. I tried to do that one time but it didn't fix the problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

I keep seeing a warning that I'd better update firefox by March 14th. But when I try, there seems to be no easy way to do it. I can download the archives, either .bz2 or .xz, for several different versions (ESR or not), for Linux-64. But upon opening these archives, I don't see any obvious "INSTALL" script, nor a "README" or anything else to get me started. How deep do I have to dig into this, to get this simple task done? Why can't it be "one click"? I don't want to go through the hassle of setting up the Debian apt archive to point at Mozilla, since it doesn't seem to be in the defaults -- and why should I have to?

I try to follow the directions in Support, which direct me to the "three lines" menu -> Settings -> General -> Firefox Updates. But it doesn't "automatically download" the new update, in fact it doesn't even seem to try to check for updates, nor is there any link to click to make it update manually. What I see in that panel does not match the screenshot in the Support (see attached image).

I click on "download installer", but it just takes me to the same page where I can specify my language, etc., and then download the archive of the browser itself. No sign of any installer, as mentioned above.

Why is this so hard??? Has my browser been hacked to prevent updates? Please help!

With normal mice, when you scroll you typically scoll in steps which you feel as the mouse wheel feedback.

The issue here is with high resolution scroll wheels, whether that is a knob or a "frictionless" mouse wheel like on higher end logitech mice.

What happens: You slowly rotate the scroll wheel while nothing is happens in firefox, then you get to a certain point and firefox scolls one step, then you continue to slowly rotate the wheel, and eventually firefox scrolls another step.

What should happen: It continuously scolls as you rotate the wheel. This works in chromium browsers and other chromium based apps like discord, steam, etc, it also works in kde settings app, dolphin, okular, etc. But not firefox. It even works in terminal.

Both firefox and thunderbird are like this.

Is there a way to get this working or is it simply not supported in firefox? If so then feature request: get high res scoll wheels to work

Hi, I said most of it in the title. Somehow, my Firefox DisableAppUpdate policy got set to 'true' & when I try to change it Firefox says sorry "this is managed by your organization". But I'm not currently signed in to an enterprise network. This is on private wi-fi. Can you all fix this? I need to be able to manage policies like this *for my personal browser*, less is not okay. Thank you for your help.

Hi there I've been using firefox for long time and I love that it utilizes gtk4 in gnome. To make it even more like other gnome apps I found I can remove the tab bar and combining everything in one bar. That way it looks like vanilla gnome application. But I don't like the extra clicks I have to do to get side bar or tab list open. I couldn't find any extension that will provide icons only tabs I can insert into the toolbar. So i can someone help A): implement the tab bar besides the url in the toolbar or the other way around the url besides the tab bar? B): display all opened tabs in a page that I can set for a new tab page? (this sounds a great idea can't believe I can't find extension that can do that!) C): at least have the sidebar with the vertical tabs to autohide? Does anybody know how to do any of these 3 or maybe have a better workaround?

When I was previously using Firefox in Kubuntu 22.04, if I downloaded something I could go to the Downloads icon and click on the download and it would open in the desired application. After a failed upgrade to 24.04 I had to do a reinstall and now in Kubuntu 24.04, if I click on a downloaded file it will always bring up a window with "Open the file link with okular?" and the buttons Cancel and Open Link below. How do I go back to the previous way of it working?
