Hi,

Microsoft and Google are part of Anthropic's Project Glasswing but Mozilla is not. I am concerned about Firefox security if Mozilla in not being included. What is your plan to participate? Do I need to switch browsers in the meantime? Please advise. Thanks.

I recently switched operating systems from W11 to Linux (Zorin), and installed a new copy of Firefox. I rely on local web pages I have written for some of my work, but the new copy of Firefox does not find the file. For example, when accessing an image, e.g., file:///magrathea/dmpase/home/index/coastal24.png, Firefox gives the message:

File not found Firefox can’t connect to the server at local file What can you do about it? Check to make sure you’ve typed the website address correctly.

The address is correct, that is, the file resides at: /magrathea/dmpase/home/index/coastal24.png and the user does have permissions to read the file. I've tried adding up to five '/' characters to the beginning, and I have turned off all of my installed add-ons, but without success.

An apparently related problem is that double clicking on a '.htm' file also changes the address, for example, from '/home/dmpase/Desktop/index.htm' to 'file:///run/user/1000/doc/f07a8988/index.htm'

And finally, the "Brave" browser is able to read the files with no errors.

How do I fix this for Firefox?

My wife's PC has had this problem twice. Somehow the default browser in Firefox gets changed to Rini.drorinat. How do I stop this from happening?

Some software must be lurking around resetting this. And don't tell me it's not a browser issue.

A while ago when using the setting firefox noticed that i was using a vpn and turned the settings off. At least that was what i believed. Turns out, that only works with browser vpn addons that use the firefox settings. But these addons do not use wireguard, but tls to encrypt your data. If i use a vpn, and want to use the dns settings provided by them, i have to turn of the feature the dns over https feature from firefox. I only want to use that feature, if im not "protected" by a vpn solution of my choice.

The attached pop up ad continues to present it self in spite of my selecting block pop-ups. I cannot find a setting to block the pop up depicted in the attached image. Assistance would be appreciated.

I just purchase Malwarebytes Standard plan to help strengthen the security of my laptop which runs on Windows 11 .After installing the standard plan, Malwarebytes recommended I install, for free, an add-on called Browser Guard for Firefox. However, Mozilla sent a cautionary statement: 'This add-on is not actively monitored for security by Mozilla. Make sure you trust it before installing.

Why private window is the same as general window browse? It should be different, yesterday was different, when I created a new account, this new private window change it to the public window, are they any bugs? Can you fix it? Thanks.

I do not want a VPN the web browser that I didn't ask for or other features you think people need without asking.

Corporate and business users would not have a bar of this either.

Enough!

Remove this from Firefox please in the next release.

In the meantime, tell users how to disable this VPN via the Settings and "about:config" so this never gets turned on.

I noticed that in the latest release (I tried both MacOS and Windows 11 ARM versions) that the "network.cookie.sameSite.laxByDefault" is no longer enabled, and cookies set by applications without specifying the flag, are not set with Lax and are sent in cross-origin requests. Could you clarify if this is intentional and why the change has been made?

When the browser is open - whether with tabs or not - it disables NVIDIA ShadowPlay. The NVIDIA overlay says “a protected app is preventing desktop capture,” and I’d agree with that if it only happened when tabs with DRM content were open, but it happens even in an empty browser.

Regarding the new built in Firefox VPN. If I have Tabs open and Enable the VPN on a New Tab, does it then affect all previously opened Tabs, only the New Tab, only the New Tab and Tabs opened after that initial New Tab, or ? Also, is there a Meter Display or similar so I know how much of the 50GB VPN allotment has been used or is remaining ? Thank you, very kindly ...-- J V

Hello This evening as I was going to pay for a book on a site well known to me, I notice that I don’t see a lock to the left of the address. I read your page 'Mixed content blocking in Firefox' after seeing that its little French sister was not up to date and it seems that it is the version of Firefox installed tonight that is behind this big change. Even my bank’s site no longer shows padlocks and it’s destabilizing. Why such a change without explanation??? I only read information about the split view in the same tab (which seems very useful) but nothing about this disappearance of the lock... Can you confirm that it is indeed the version from tonight 27/03/2026 that made this change at first glance worrying.

Some extensions I use have been updated and now ask permission to "Access your data for all websites." What is the scope of this access? Can an extension which facilitates video downloads see my bank password? Can it access data for sites in a different Firefox container? Can it access sites which I use in a different browser? Can it access data for sites which, on my system, are only available to a different user? Thanks for any clarification. [I am running Firefox 149.0 under Kubuntu 24.04]
