just set acct up, added recovery key . sign back in with Apple acct and shows recovery key not set up. Help had sooo much trouble keeping secured accts

I have looked in my email for the code to sync my devices and there is no code, what is the authentification App I do not have that on my computer for the longest while I have been unsuccessful in pairing because I can't find code and that has been quite frustrating for me.
