Prior to FF97 a simply setting to "false" the about:config, print.tab_modal.enabled setting allowed FF to always use the system dialog box when printing. However, in FF97, this is no longer the case. How can I set FF97 to always use the system print dialog box??

I almost always use Preview printing on my Macs to avoid multiple pages of garbage so this is fairly important to me...and it might help to save a few trees...

I just updated from Firefox 96.0.3 to Firefox 97. When I try to print I get the Firefox preview, even though I have print.tab_modal.enabled set to false. Please fix it so that I can get the print system dialog without going via the Firefox preview. Note that I have now reverted to Firefox 96.0.3 and won't update from this unless the problem is fixed.

This error shows from all latest version, going back as far as version 52, whenever I click to check out on some shopping websites, like Costa.co.uk and currys.co.uk. For troubleshooting purposes, I copied a portable Firefox setup and added a gift card and filled in my email address on Costa website: https://gifting.costa.co.uk/home/gift-card/thank-you-little-gc.aspx I clicked to check out, but the error page shows instead of allowing me to proceed to payment. Clearing cookies/history, disabling, add-ons/running Firefox in troubleshoot mode, updating to newer Firefox doesn't solve the problem. I tried troubleshoot mode, deleting all add-ons, re-setting all about:config settings to default, but no avail. I tried deleting misc files and folders from Firefox directories and noticed that the problem is caused by: "content-prefs.sqlite" and "prefs.js", but after deleting those files or the profile folder, the error doesn't show on first load, but if I try a second time after clearing history, the error message starts showing again. The site loads next page only if I delete the data folder or use a fresh install with no add-ons/configurations. This didn't used to happen. I spent a lot of time setting up my Firefox so don't want to start over.

How can I solve this issue?

Firefox 97 installed itself , and now I have two print dialogs each time I go to print something. I have the system print dialog , and the Firefox print dialog. Does anyone one know a way to turn of the Firefox dialog in 97?

I fixed it in earlier versions by setting

print.tab_modal.enabled = false

...but in Firefox 97 it seems this no longer does the job.

Grateful for any advice.

Hi, how do we set Firefox 97 to use the os/system print dialog?

Before Firefox 97 we could change these settings in about:config:

print.tab_modal.enabled = false widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal = true

But they are both gone now.

There is now widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.print, which is an integer (2 by default).

But no matter what integer it is set to, we still don't get the os/system print dialog.

We are using Arch Linux, but we don't expect that to be of any importance -- after all, it worked before Firefox 97.

Thanks for your time :o)

How can I restore my old system print dialog window as my default, instead of getting the horrible new print window that now appears? I have already set both the print.tab_modal.enabled preference and the app.normandy.startupRolloutPrefs.print.tab_modal.enabled preference to FALSE. This did NOT solve the problem! I knew updating Firefox to version 97 would be a huge mistake, and of course it was. I'm so irritated...

I'm using Windows 10 Professional. Any help greatly appreciated.

Firefox automatically updated last night, and once again defaults to its own printer dialog box. I hate it. There is a link to use the system print dialog box but it only works for that specific print job -- which wastes a lot of time every time I want to print.

I can't find a setting to choose my system printer dialog box as default. the solutions from last year no longer work (about:config, then tab_mo, then print.tab_modal.enabled, set to false.

Anyone know how to fix this? It's enough to make me stop using the browser because the Firefox dialog box sucks.

Hi,

Firefox is displaying this message: Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue

Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to l.mail.people.com because this website requires a secure connection

and does NOT let me continue... HOWEVER, if I copy n paste the URL (https://l.mail.people.com/rts/go2.aspx?h=16465956&tp=i-1NHD-9U-36Hb-1OjSfX9-Hv-5EjIU-1c-Xmrj-1OjOLzQ-l78hyiHVom-1J3ttn&x=6b160f0f640ceeb5fd6f8fe1a3284d4886844914%7c739139%7c20220211%7c021122%7c739139%7c79459191515) to a DIFFERENT browser, there are NO issues with it.

Why is Firefox complaining and how do I tell it to STOP?

A site that I use several times every year recently wouldn't open. Response from Firefox is "Access Denied - Certificate issuer not recognized". Also kept getting bumped out of my email account and all my open tabs would close abruptly. The last may have been rectified but I still can't get into the website I want to access.

I've tried different browsers as well so I don't know if it's Mozilla only or my PC. Even if I type in https://www.(pagename).com, it displays as you don't have permission to access http://www.(pagename).com.

I changed nothing on my PC that would cause the problem.

Hello,

the newest update to version 97.0 was run automatically. Afterwards the new print preview appears although I have it disabeled in about:config (print.tab_modal.enabled --> false). I cannot get rid of it. It is very annoying as I cannot print my labels with that menu and always have to click once more to do so. Does anyone has a fix for this?

Thanks in advance,

Thomas

Running Linux Mint Mate 19.2 on two computers. Starting about 2 weeks ago, when trying to sign into providencejournal.com (with a paid subscription) using Firefox 97.0.1, just one of the computers displays an error message, see attached. We have used that site for years without issues, and the other computer still signs in correctly. On the problem computer I have just installed the Opera browser, for test purposes, and with Opera the sign-in succeeds. In F/F, I have tried disabling extensions, allowing all trackers and cookies, and reinstalling Javascript, all to no avail. preference is to use F/F, can anyone offer a solution?

Hi, I'm trying to run and use Firefox as my default browser on Windows 11, but I'm running into some issues. The device is managed by Microsoft Family, which blocks Firefox by default. I got around this by renaming "firefox.exe" to something else. This works to get Firefox open, but the modified filename is causing Windows to not recognize it as a browser. As a result, I can't get Firefox set as the default for http/https.

I've tried tools like SetDefaultBrowser from Christoph Kolbicz but no success, it is unable to notice that firefox no longer exists as "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"

Anyone have any advice on how to fix this? Windows seems adamant not to let me set the http/https protocols to anything it doesn't think is a browser (i.e. my Firefox installation).

I am a Firefox user for 5 years now and never had such bad experience before. Since 2022 February 8 my Firefox application keeps crashing all the time. The browser opens and I can open webpages as well, but shortly after opening the websites, most of the pages result in Firefoxing crashing. I have latest version of Firefox and I have checked in safe / troubleshooting mode as well, but it did not help, Firefox still crashes. I have submitted a lot of crash reports in the last two days, the latest one has this ID: bp-94f69edd-95cb-40e3-84de-33cb20220210.

Please let me know what to do, as currently I cannot use Firefox and without a fix I have change to another web browser. Please also note that the same webpages that crash under Firefox work without errors in other browsers.

Good afternoon Mozilla!

Hope all is well.

I wonder if you could please kindly help me.

Major issue on my Director's laptop. He uses Firefox on a daily basis and has several bookmarks, history, etc... Also when he searches for an specific company/supplier (we have over 3000) they come up and once we are on said supplier's website the account logins are recognized enabling easy and pain-free access.

Since the major issue, Laptop had been refreshed (Microsoft Windows 10 - kept all files and apps and got rid of the explorer issue where any folder within the Laptop would crash after few seconds)... Even bringing back the old profile my director can no longer access history, nor bookmarks and when searching automatic login to supplier websites is no longer there...

I used a software called Veeam Agent to do an Image of his entire Laptop on the 10.02.2022. I would bring back the whole ISO image and hopefully things would go back to what it use to be (most likely the Folder/Explorer Issue would also come back)... however he insists in just getting Firefox going ON again...

I have created a new profile and imported/copied/pasted all info I found on Veeam... there where contents of Firefox under Profiles on Local and Roaming locations within the C Drive.

Also followed this... but it did not help...

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recovering-important-data-from-an-old-profile

Can you please kindly help me? Kindest Regards Paulo
