Hello all,
Ever since an update to Firefox from a few weeks ago, I have been having issues with white backgrounds displaying incorrectly in Firefox. I have attached two identical images from the NYT homepage: the first is a screenshot from Chrome and the second is the same exact image but taken from Firefox.
I have also attached another screenshot taken in Firefox from REI.com. You'll see that it's not necessarily just a white background that is causing the weird blue color. It also happens in products images being displayed incorrectly.
I figured this might be a Firefox website appearance setting, but I have played around with it and selected many different permutations and I haven't been able to solve this issue. I have also tried refreshing Firefox, using Firefox in Safemode, disabling all of my plugins/themes, etc. and nothing was fixed.
I am pretty sure this isn't a system wide issue or a monitor issue because these websites are being displayed 100% correct in Chrome and Edge. This is only an issue in Firefox.
Can someone advise?
Thanks,
DC

Hi All,
I would like to hide the "New Tab to Right" option on the Tab Context Menu, and also remove the separator line right below that menu item.
The first line in the following code removes the Menu Item, but none of the 4 remaining lines succeed in removing the separator line. It remains at the top of the menu (see attached image).
Could anyone suggest some code to also remove the separator line at the top?
This is in FF 135.
Thank you.
#context_openANewTab, #context_openANewTab + menuseparator, #context_openANewTab_separator, #context_reloadTab_separator, #context_reloadTab + menuseparator::before { display: none !important; }
This code below removes the first menu item and ALL separators from ALL menus, which is "ok" but not optimal.
menuseparator, #context_openANewTab { display: none !important; }
This solution provided by cor-el a few years ago appears to no longer work (the separator remains):

Hi All,
I noticed that my drop-down menus are not visually consistent.
The "File" and "View" menus have an extra column on the left side, while the remaining menus do not have this extra space.
I'm not sure if this column is for icons that are not displaying, or if it serves some other function.
Is there a way (either with custom css, or with some setting) to eliminate the space on the left side of these two menus?
Firefox does this in both my profile, and the default profile, which are 2 different profiles.
I'm seeing this left column whether or not a userChrome.css file is in use.
Please see attached images.
Thanks.
UPDATE: I found the reason for the blank columns in the File and View menus.
These menus leave space for checkmarks on items which are toggles (On/Off).
The File menu has a "Work Offline" toggle item, and the View menu has a "Full Screen" toggle item.
When activated, a check (tick) appears to the left of these items.
I've added images at the bottom showing these toggle items.
The confusion comes from earlier FF versions which had vertical column separator line on EVERY menu, making them all look uniform.
So... I guess my options are either to remove the "Work Offline" and "Full Screen" menu items, hoping the blank column will disappear, or add a vertical column separator to all of the top menus, if that's possible.
Does anyone know how to add the vertical column separator to each menu?
The last image below shows an earlier version of FF in Windows 7 that had this column separator - and they were in all of the menus, not just the ones with toggle items.
Any help is appreciated to add the vertical lines on the left of each menu :)

I just noticed this today when my browser updated to 136.0.1 (64-bit).
In the Picture attached you can see the tab width changing when playing any audio that brings up whatever that audio symbol is officially called. This also happens when you mute a tab. When unmuting a tab or stopping audio the tab goes back to the regular size.
Is there any setting in the about:config that could stop the resizing of the tab or any setting at all to not have this happen?
Additional info: I have set browser.tabs.tabMinWidth to 140 in about:config. This setting has been this way for years and those tabs with the audio never resized until today.
Just updated to version 134 64 bit and the minimize buttons have been removed. Is that supposed to happen ? There is now only a close button (X).

Dear sir or madam,
Can you please help me with a deeply frustrating problem I'm having with Firefox? After the last update, the shortcuts on my FF homepage disappeared and I can't restore or rebuild them.
Under settings, the homepage is set to show two rows of shortcuts but none are visible. I changed it to show more rows, closed & restarted FF, but no shortcuts appear. I then changed it to no rows, closed & restarted FF, then set it back to two rows, closed & restarted FF - still no rows. I've tried starting FF in troubleshoot mode, but to no avail. Looking through the Community Forums, I can't find anything that directly relates to my problem. In case this may help, I've had this problem once or twice before but I'm afraid I can't remember how it was resolved or if it was anything I stumbled upon that fixed it.
The environment is FF version 136.0.2 (64-bit) on an Acer Aspire E5 PC running Windows 10 Home, 64-bit, version 22H2, last updated 16 March 2025.
If you can offer any suggestion how I can resolve this and stop me pulling my hair out (in my case, it's an endangered species!), my remaining hair and I will be eternally grateful.
Yours faithfully, Peter Palmer

Good day everyone,
I have been breaking my head over this for about a week. After the last update that was installed, now my tab width is smaller than the minimum width I have set them to. However, this only happens with active tabs from pages that have an embedded video. At first I thought this was just a thing with YouTube, but it seems it also happens with other video sites. I guess it may be related to whenever the playback button displays in the tab title and it detects there is video content.
I would like to know how to fix this behavior so that my tabs are no longer shortened beyond the minimum width setting.
Thank you in advance.

I want my bookmarks toolbar to be across the top of the page but I can only find it from the 3 bars at the top right of the screen. When I click on it, I am given the option to hide the toolbar, but it's already hidden. I have also navigated from the View menu as well, and the toolbar is set on Always Show. I have run out of things to try. I am on a laptop with Microsoft Windows. Can someone offer assistance?
I have the vertical sidebar showing, but cannot figure out how to get the Bookmarks Menu to show up in that space

Since the 135 update, the pinned shortcuts on the new tab are now not centered under the search bar. I've found a temporary fix in about:config (see below) but this makes the icons incredibly small. I would just like the pinned shortcuts to be centered now instead of left adjacent.

A folder on the bookmarks menu that stroes individual bookmarks, fills half the screen of a standard 1080p screen with totally empty white space.
The padding in between each and every single bookmark, in any place that can store bookmarks, will be filled by at least 3 or 4 mm of empty white space. Between every single bookmark.
This is a huge amount of completely pointless scrolling.
Do you have an RSI? No?
Good for you. I, sadly do.
Has there been a fix for this cos the chrome folder .css "fix" is not working for me.
If i cant solve this i am going to change browsers. I dont care. I love Firefox and used it since the netscape days in the 90's, but am not going in for another surgery since you people insist of giving people more RSI's.
My normal toolbars at top of screen and display at bottom of screen are not displayed. How do I get th3em back? Is this a firefox or Windows 7 pro problem?

Previously I could change the color of ONLY visited links. 138 broke that ability and replaced it with a contrast setting that changes every kind of link color and the page background color/design too. This totally stinks and makes the visited web pages look terrible and hard to read too.
Is there a way to set FF so that ONLY visited link colors can be changed to the preferred one?

I would like to swap the order of the first 2 items on the Bookmarks Context Menu - that is "Open in New Tab" should be second, and "Open in New Window" should be first.
I'm able to do this on the "regular" context menu with the following code...
#context-openlink { order: -1; }
But I cannot find the correct selector for the Bookmarks Context menu (see attached image).
I have tried code (to no avail) such as the following...
#placesContext-openlink { order: -1; }
#BMB_bookmarksPopup-openlink { order: -1; }
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks.

How do we convince Mozilla to add dark mode? It's a simple thing, and quite popular today.
I'm referring to Firefox on Desktop, but on Android, before the dark mode revolution, I would to root my phones to control the silly bright screens - it was a lot of work - but worth it. I still avoid apps that refuses to comply with popular and sensible dark mode.
The bright background fixation is due to people growing up writing on white paper... they don't get that it's silly - staring at a flashlight - or 1920x1080 flashlights. I started computers in command line days - dark was default. Then came blinding Windows - many years of blinding nonsense. Finally, in the last 10 years, while most tech has enabled dark mode, MOZILLA is a huge disappointing exception. Why?
The only way I've found to fix Firefox decreases security! about:config, extensions.webextensions.restrictedDomains ... not recommended!
