Firefox 86 for Windows gets a beautiful new Print dialog, with great Print Preview and other functionality. The Mac? Nope!

And there is no technical reason for this! Chrome/Vivaldi/Brave all have a similar dialog box that makes it easy not to waste paper when a website insists on printing a second page for a single word.

Come on, Mozilla! A little feature parity would be nice – especially for such basic functionality!

why does firefox refuse to open because unsafe document etc, and when the same(within firefox) is entered into google surch, the respective page is available, can be opened and confirms that it is a safe page. No problem to open in edge. The various tipps do not help. antivirus is F-secure. cleaning cookies and cache did not help either.

I tried Firefox 86.0 on ArchLinux with a KDE Plasma (Wayland) session. All Qt and GTK applications function normally. Firefox does not crash, but there is a noticable delay while typing or interacting with the mouse. It seems the input is received but it is not rendered on the screen.

I used the profiler and uploaded a profiler session to help you investigate the problem.

For some reason Firefox is deleting my browsing history every time I exit the browser. I do not have the setting enabled to 'Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed'.

This seems to have started happening since I told Firefox to 'forget' a couple of sites in my browsing history.

I do not have any external programmes such as antivirus that would delete the browsing history.

What could be causing this?

My print preview is no longer available, and the new one is too small to see what's on the page. It's useless! Also, simplify page is gone (I understand "Reader View") is the work-around. Also, it's many extra clicks to get to my system print controls to print properly.

Solving the print preview too small would go a long way towards keeping Firefox usable. The other things could certainly use fixing, however.

Thanks in advance! L.

(I have restored the old functionality temporarily with print.tab_modal.enabled preference set to false. Thanks community for showing me to do so! See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1322623 if you want to know how. However, usually Firefox takes these options away soon. )

Why does FF forget 'always do this' settings from session to session?

whenever FF opens/saves a particular file type, i set the 'Do this from now on' button for that file type or when i download a link that passes to a handler application, i click the 'always do this' button on the little toast dropdown. i do this because, shocker, i ALWAYS WANT FIREFOX TO DO THAT. but when i close the session, either manually or via reboot, when i launch back into FF, it asks me all over again for the same things.

now this crap has been a problem since time immemorial (since FF 26, IIRC) and it's always broken. when the hell is this going to be fixed, now that we have ONE MORE dialog that stupidly asks us to set a pref it has no intention of keeping?

somebody is gong to say 'make a new profile' or 'refresh FF', but none of that has ever worked and it doesn't work now because i've literally just setup six brand new machines and ALL OF THEM have this behaviour, ranging from Firefox, Firefox Nightly, Firefox Focus, right to Firefox Developer Edition. all of them fresh, right out of the box.

if anyone knows how to make this bloody behaviour stick, please let me know, otherwise the dev team needs to just remove the ask... or fix it and make the blasted thing do its job. >:(

I discovered this issue this evening, no idea how long it's been going on. I opened Task Manager to see if a program was running (not firefox) . Firefox WAS open, and I had one window open in firefox.. BUT next to Firefox, was (7) so I expanded. It showed 7 instances. With only 2 programs open, (firefox and task Manager) the amount of memory it was using was surprising.. Using 64 bit version of Firefox, 86.0

I tried "ending task" on the instances that were using 0% CPU, but I was only able to close 2-3 before ALL of them closed. I would then reopen and it would be 6, 7, or 8 instances I tried 3 times.

Can someone enlighten me as to why it is doing this?

While browsing I opened a tab so I could view my "Top Sites" and click on one of them I wanted to visit. They are all gone. There should be three rows, most of which I have edited to the sites I visit most. The option is still checked, with three rows being how many are shown. It is just a blank tab. Nothing is there anymore. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
