I'm a gamer and alt+tab considerably often. Most of the time I end up on FireFox because I need to look at a map or browse reddit while I'm in queue. However, whenever I alt+tab frequently a bookmark will get selected as if I am clicking and dragging. The bookmarks on the bookmark tool bar always end up in different places. Is there a way to lock these links in place so I can't move them or do I have to resign myself to fixing it every day?

I am trying to transfer my firefox bookmarks from my old computer's hard drive to my new computer. they are both fairly current laptops, and i believe both are on windows 10 (the new one is on, i think, whatever the newest version of windows is). I cannot turn on my old computer, so I can't export the bookmarks, but the hard drive is fully functional. The problem is, I can't find where the bookmarks are located. I have tried looking through the files, I have "show hidden files" on, I have tried manually searching for "places.sqlite" and I have tried doing the %APPDATA% thing. I can see other folders on the hard drive very easily, so it shouldn't be the fault of the hard drive. If you know how I am able to find the files, please go through it step-by-step; I'm not proficient in computer things, and something that may seem very obvious and instinctive to you may be what I'm messing up on.

I have installed Firefox for windows 10 on a new laptop. I was able to sign in for synchronizing and got all my bookmarks synced on this machine. I'm able to view the bookmarks in sidebar, but the toolbar is empty. Even when i select "Always view Bookmarks toolbar", and I drag and drop "bookmarks toolbar items" to the appropriate toolbar. I've uninstalled firefox, deleted the appropriate mozilla folder in C:\ProgramData and C:\Program Files and ran cleandisk but for some reason i still am getting an empty toolbar.

I've tried several refresh installs and sometimes after I close firefox once, and reopen, the toolbar is filled with my bookmarks, but if I close it and open it again, the bookmarks are gone and don't reappear. Can anyone help?

Hello,

I exported the old bookmarks from an old computer into a new computer with the firefox HTML file option

Once I imported them into the new version of Firefox, I could only see the "recent" bookmarks in the bookmark menu view.

I checked the settings but could not find anything to modify this.

I can see all of the bookmarks if I go into Manage Bookmarks but I can't see anything but the recent ones in the bookmark menu

I tried this on two different computers so perhaps I am missing a setting somewhere?

Thanks!

Matt

I created a *.json file and cannot find a way to open it to reinstate the bookmarks that I had in Firefox. I do not have bookmarks in other search engines, it seems the only help it for that type of problems. I read other help articles, I do not have the things that were advise from Application menu. I did not make any changes to this laptop either, I cannot understand why my bookmark had disappeared???!!! What I had was a windows soft reset, which did wipe the bookmarks. Today I had opened a couple of websites, and when I look for the bookmarks I am only shown these 5-6 bookmarks!!!! I had loads as crafts from You tube and others! Such an inconvenience!

I'm running Mojave on an Imac. I have just installed Firefox 2, updating from an older Firefox. All bookmarks are saved in a bookmarks backup .jsonlz4 file in the original Firefox Profiles folder on the Mac. I have done Import & Backup / Restore / Choose file to no avail. Nothing happened, and there are no bookmarks under the bookmark dropdown on the new Firefox browser.

The path to the Profiles backup folder runs through several levels of hidden folders. Using Terminal, I've managed to unhide all but one stubborn Library folder that is preventing me from navigating to the Profiles backup file to select it for restoration. I managed to unhide the backup file itself and save a copy to the desktop. I'm guessing that the desktop copy is not going to help me, because I'll need the path to point back to the Profiles folder.

I'm stumped. How can I transfer these bookmarks to Firefox 2? It shouldn't be this hard.

Hello.

I have used firefox for years, and signed in with sync and it automatically synced my bookmarks all the time.

I got a new desktop machine recently & was just trying to setup the firefox on it. It was new and empty of bookmarks. So I signed into my firefox account, then in the bookmark manager, there was an option that appeared to say: 'restore bookmarks..' etc. I did this, but nothing got 'restored' to the new browser.

Then.. on all my other machines, one by one, when I login to them, it is ERASING my bookmarks and leaving nothing !! Arghhhh!!!! I don't know how to deal with it.

Whenever I bookmarked a page, Firefox always asked me where I want to save the bookmark. Since Firefox updated a few days ago, it just saves every bookmark to last folder I chose but this is inconvenient because I have to then edit the bookmark to save it in the folder where I want it. Is there a setting that I can change so Firefox will again ask me where I want to save a bookmark when I try to bookmark a page?

Thanks in advance.
