Hi folks

Until about two or three days ago the www.bt.com website opened as usual, with first of all its cookie panel taking over the screen asking whether to accept cookies or manage cookies, and after handling that the site was perfectly usable.

As of two or three days now the cookie panel does not come up NOT AT ALL [but see also the last part of this message], and the screen is lightly-greyed-out. The screen scrolls but nothing at all is clickable.

However, in Chrome and Edge the site opens and works as expected.

The site also opens on the iPhone using both Safari and Firefox and works as expected.

It is just FF on my W10x64 Desktop where I have the unclickable lightly-greyed-out screen problem.

Perhaps something has chaged in FF, so I went into Settings-Privacy & Security- and then did the following:-

  • Went to Site Data then "Manage Exceptions then I specifically typed in and Allowed the www.bt.com website
  • Then went to Permissions and Block pop-up windows and in Exceptions I typed in and Allowed the www.bt.com website
  • Then cleared FF cache
  • Then reloaded FF

After all of this - no change; the www.bt.com screen is still in a lightly-greyed-out and unclickble, but still scrolls, however, after taking the above bulleted steps, the cookie panel now momentairily only flickers onto the screen and then disappears, and, sadly, the screen remains lightly-greyed-out and unusable.

Am I missing some sort of blocker for this website?

All other websites work on the Desktop PCs FF as expected. It is just this www.bt.com website that is the issue.

I have spent 30 mins with a BT Support Agent on the phone and we both agree that as Chrome, Edge and Safari are all fine it must be an issue with the Desktop version of FF.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

I only opened 5 pages (fixed tabs), and only enabled two plug-ins, Proxy SwitchyOmega and AdGuard AdBlocker. The browser was always open, and the pages were static, and nothing was playing. The strange thing is that it didn't take up much memory at the beginning, but it took up more and more memory over time. Today the system got stuck and couldn't respond (it might be that the system used virtual memory).

I used the browser's task manager, which showed that the Shared Web Process memory of several pages was very high, some as high as 4G, and the GPU memory was also higher than before.

I think this is very strange. Why does the memory usage increase exponentially after the webpage has been there for a while?

My settings and usage habits have basically not changed. I didn't have this problem before, but it has appeared in the past six months. I have updated many versions, but the problem still exists. I have always used Firefox. If it continues like this, I will be very disappointed and have to make changes.

I haven't upgraded browser versions for a while and I'm now going from 109 to 132. Pretty bad I know.

I'm having a number of issues but for this post I'd like to concentrate on userChrome.css.

In version 109, I had a custom font for the top menu bar, the top menus, the bookmark toolbar, the bookmark toolbar menus, and the right click menus. I did this by including the following in userChrome.css (as per [https://support.mozilla.org/si/questi.../1335097|here]:

  1. navigator-toolbox { font-family:"MyFont" !important }

This worked great, but it is no longer working in version 132. Obviously I don't know in which Firefox version this stopped working.

Has this been disabled by Mozilla or has it been changed? If it's been changed, how can I achieve it now?

I'm very grateful for any help!

I've tried reinstalling the browser, deleting the Mozilla directory in %APPDATA% and reinstalling, removing account and signing in again.

No matter what I do I keep getting asked to sign in again to reconnect even though the initial sign in was successful.

If you are currently using a normal window then there are ways to open a bookmark or link in a private window. But if you are currently using a private window then how would you open a bookmark or link in a normal window?

I have tried several things including pressing shift+enter or choosing "Open in new Window" from the context menu, but this just opens the bookmark or link in a new private window.

My current method is to copy the address of the bookmark or link then paste it into the address bar of a normal window.

But is there a more direct method of opening bookmarks or links in a normal window, if currently in a private window?

Thanks.

After an update of both macOS (to macOS Sequoia 15.0.1) and Firefox Developer Edition (to 132.0b3 (aarch64)), the Bookmarks Toolbar stopped working. The same issue appeared on my Windows PC.

Bookmarks toolbar is visible, I can show and hide it but it does not display any of my saved bookmarks. Luckily, they were not deleted and I still can access them via Bookmarks Menu, which is less than optimal.

The Drag&Drop functionality does not work either. When I grab the opened Tab, drag it on the Toolbar and release it, the Tab gets opened in the new browser window and it's not saved.

To optimize performance and ensure cross-browser compatibility in complex web applications, several best practices can be implemented:

Use Responsive Design: Employ responsive web design techniques to ensure that your application functions well on various screen sizes and devices. This approach enhances user experience across different platforms.
Minimize HTTP Requests: Reduce the number of HTTP requests by combining files (like CSS and JavaScript) and using image sprites. This can significantly improve loading times.
Leverage Browser Caching: Implement caching strategies to store frequently accessed resources, which can speed up load times for returning users.
Test Across Multiple Browsers: Regularly test your application on various browsers (like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge) to identify and fix compatibility issues early in the development process.
Optimize Images and Assets: Use appropriate image formats and compression techniques to reduce file sizes without compromising quality, which can enhance loading speed.
Utilize Best Application Development Services: Partner with experts who provide the best application development services to incorporate performance monitoring and optimization tools into your development workflow.

By following these practices, developers can create robust applications that not only perform well but also deliver a consistent experience across different browsers. Engaging with the community to share insights and experiences can further enhance our collective understanding of effective application development strategies.

I cannot seem to find what it is called, but only web design related stuff to scrolling.

I'm looking to change the behavior of scrolling bar, that lets me click a point and the page stops at that point, whereas right now, it keeps scrolling to the end/top of the page (based on the direction relative to the starting point). I find the behavior pretty annoying and something that used to be done by the buttons on either end point.

Is this a relic of the past or can i opt-in to it through the config

I am having a continuing problem using fire fox to access websites. I go to a site to use one of their tools and have issues using or logging in to their site. I will go to a site where an accept cookies banner should pop up to continue and nothing pops up so I can't continue. I have tried the disable Enhanced Protection with no change in results. If I use Duck Duck Go, or Edge everything works. Firefox is my default browser, but it appears that you have made a change that is now impacting my ability to use websites. Sometimes things work if I go into Troubleshooting mode, but I can't determine where the problem is. I use Norton as my anti-virus and internet security and have turned it off as part of my troubleshooting but that does not help.

Please provide guidance.

Thank you.

Hi there, after turning on my computer in the morning, Firefox has been suddenly rendered utterly inoperable and pulls up a PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR for all websites. No matter what I do, including all other fixes previously suggested on the Mozilla forums and elsewhere, nothing seems to work.

Things that I've already tried and did not work include: - Pausing Kaspersky Internet Security - Resetting WiFi router - Switching to a different WiFi - Turning on troubleshooting mode - Resetting Firefox entirely - Creating a new profile - Reinstalling Firefox (several times) - Installing Firefox for Developers - Flushing DNS - Turning off proxy settings

I really don't want to be forced to use Google Chrome. Is there anything else that I can possibly do that can fix this?

I've been seeing this more and more, but my toolbar will change by itself every restart. The add tab button will shift all the way to the left or not appear, the bookmarks won't appear, etc. I'm not sure what can be causing this, and I saw no way to "save" my current configuration other than pressing the done button upon using the custom toolbar, which I had done every time prior to fix my configuration. Does anybody know why this is occurring, and a possible fix? Thank you

Problem loading images on Home Depot website. It happens when you want detailed images of a product. This is not just one linux distribution. Its many of them. In the case of Ubuntu same problem with Snap version. Whether .deb or Snap doesn't matter.

I've got a test machine with 10 ssd's in it. I switched over to Ubuntu 24.04 that I installed/configured several months ago. Before updating I checked Firefox. It was version 125. No problems with Home Depot. Updated system. Firefox updated to 128.0. Home Depot wouldn't load images anymore. Did all the usual stuff like disabling a couple of extensions. There are only two. Adblock Plus and Weather. Other than that no changes to Firefox that would be a problem.

I've got Google Chrome installed on these machines too. Home Depot no problem. Images of product load and display fine.

I don't order much on Home Depot so using Google Chrome is not a problem for me. But it is annoying and I know I'm not the only one. Seen it posted in a few forums with no resolution. Also, I have not had any problems with Amazon or Lowes website. They are similar in that they display detailed images of each product. I'm not implying that Home Depot is the only one. Just that its the only one I have discovered. If I recall correctly 127.x may have been where it started. The general images of many products don't seem to be a problem.

Thanks, Gerald
