So what do I do to get access to the icons? Nothing in customize and I've searched the web...not a word.

(hitting the "automatically add" below does not work either "we can't find..." and of course what is typed here goes away. )

I am building a computer kiosk that utilizes Firefox Quantum ESR 60.3 to access sensitive data, and therefore has to fit certain security compliance standards. Part of these standards include hiding the address bar and toolbar in order to restrict access to settings to users. I've tried implementing a "userChrome.css" script to hide it but I think that solution does not work for versions after 57 as it did not work. I've also tried editing the profile's "prefs.js" file to no avail.

Is there a solution to hide the address bar/toolbar that works with the newest version of Firefox Quantum ESR?

Here's a link to the userChrome solution: https://superuser.com/questions/977912/firefox-hide-everything-except-content-area-of-the-browser/1269912#1269912

I prefer to have a separate search field. This appears when I set it in preferences but Firefox keeps forgetting and defaulting to the 'magic bar'. The problem with this is that it takes up the majority of the top line of the tab, pushing useful notifications of into the >> zone.

Realized recently that all icons from background apps I'm running, like: Privacy Badger, Lightbeam and uBlock Origin, among others, have disappeared completely from my Firefox top toolbar - or, a Firefox top toolbar.

For instance, I have recently fired up a VPN service. I wanted to fire off Lightbeam to see how/if the VPN is working, but the Lightbeam icon is gone, as is the Privacy Badger icon, and the uBlock Origin icon, among others.

As far as I can tell, some, or all, of these installed apps, 'seem' to be still installed and actively running in background mode.

I 'think' uBlock Origin, for example, dynamically blocked a couple of nasty tabs recently.

But I can't get any info on/from/regarding these apps (or some of them, perhaps, at least). I don't even know where these apps are stored and/or whether or not they are still installed and running, although I 'think' they are.

Recent Firefox upgrades have fired up Pocket, which seems/seemed interesting. However, is it possible, perhaps, that Firefox upgrades and/or instantiation of Pocket caused these apps [or at least, the icons for these apps, that appeared to be the equivalent of shortcuts], to have disappeared?!

I hate it when stuff like this changes/happens. Usually, with Microsoft and Windows, here and there, seems like you need to empathize with the OS from the ground up.

Every once in a while - less so, for a while now - it seemed like I would sneeze or wave my hands and I'd have, I dunno, a sidebar menu, for instance where one either didn't exist before or was a horizontal toolbar.

Arrggh...

Have checked most of the postings for: how to customize, add/modify this or that toolbar and several other options, but am totally at sea, as to what might have changed [and when and how] to cause these apps, and the valuable info that they and their icons provide, to disappear.

Help!

Thanks and best,

Dan

I have a Debian 9.5 (stable) with Cinnamon DE. I didn't want to use backports repositories, so I downloaded the Firefox Quantum ESR tar.bz2 file and unpacked it.

By default, there are no possibilities to extend the bookmarks toolbar for more than 1 row. Pre-Quantum FFs had an extension to solve this issue but that doesn't work anymore. I tried a lot of solutions recommended on Github or Reddit but none of them were able to provide a working solution.

Do you have any idea?

Hi all. I'm running Quantum 61.0.2 (64-bit) on openSUSE Tumbleweed. It's a minor problem, but it's a definite annoyance - the Bookmarks Bar does not stay turned on after I reboot my machine. Due to a bit of flakiness on my machine (I do some development and things can get unpredictable), I have to reboot more than I'd like. But I'd also like to keep my Bookmarks Bar open... I have all my reference material bookmarked in the Bar for easy access.

Does anyone know if there's a way to fix this? Some internal setting I can manually change?

Thanks!

Ubuntu 16.04, Firefox 59.01, fresh install. No bookmarks toolbar available. When going under customize, click the toolbar bitton, nothing shows up. This is consistent with three fresh installs. I prefer having the tool bar readily available, preferably under the "view" "toolbars" menu. Need the bookmarks toolbar. I can't figure out why that was changed!

I'm a recent convert from Chromium to Firefox - I'm using whatever today's version is (44.0.02 at this moment in time - rapid release sucks to search for answers that apply to my version by the way).

Two days ago I had the issue of certain add-ons not appearing next to the address bar for no apparent reason. They weren't available in the customise menu an uninstalling and reinstalling did nothing. They were just invisible. Today I've started my computer and found that the address bar takes nearly the whole length of that bar and I only have ">>" arrows for my add-ons. I might as well have them in the Menu for all the good they are hidden away.

How can I switch off the random display generator? How do I shorten the address bar so it's not pointlessly long and gives room for the extensions to be displayed? The good old "Click and drag" we're all so familiar with doesn't work.
