Hello, I switched to Firefox from Chrome, however, the browser is missing one of the most important features I use almost all the time - swipe left to go back and swipe right to go forwards. I checked about:config and browser.gesture.swipe.left is set to Browser:BackOrBackDuplicate but it does not work. All answers on Mozilla Support and elsewhere are outdated or do not answer the question at all. Please fix this, it is the reason why I switched back to Chrome twice before. Any help is appreciated.

I have set the start page of firefox individually. However, in order not to start all of the internet pages contained in the start page from time to time, I start the browser with "open new tab". since the update to version 91, however, only a minimized window has opened. how can that be changed?

I truly cannot fathom why a browser, in this day & age, cannot put the list of open tabs & windows in the drop-down menu, in even SOME KIND OF ORDER! But no, it's nothing more than a long list, impossible to filter in any way, that is not in chronological, alphabetical, order of most recent used, no option to list via website or page title, etc. This is so ridiculously frustrating, along with the molasses lack of speed in opening up windows or tabs, that I'm on the verge of just chucking this entire app, for good. Why do our state-of-the-art advanced technological devices and apps, feel more like we're going backwards, and not forward??

Whenever I press a key on my keyboard (except when I'm typing) it starts finding the letter I pressed in the page I'm currently in. So whenever I press a hotkey on a website, it starts finding that letter instead of doing what that key was supposed to. I'm pretty sure this is a new feature because I never had this problem before.

I just had to both do a refresh and an update on my firefox browser, and after which, the + button to open a new tab is gone. For me and my work, this is infinitely more convenient than using ctrl + t, so I'm pretty desperate to get it back to the point that I will jump ship to Chrome if I can't.

It's not available to add on in the customization screen either, so I'm really concerned that firefox just removed it entirely with this update.

I'm not sure why they keep changing the template, but for me, this is a hill I'll die on. Please help.

When working I may have many, 20+ , tabs open. If I open a new tab it often gets totally lost. Yes it goes to the end of after Related current tab but this is not at all helpful. Sometimes the Related ones may be many and have to go hunting for it. I want to have have the old option of Opening Right Next to the Current tab. Not everyones choice but it needs to be an option.

The current setup can make using Firefox nearly unusable. Yes have gone into about:config page and changed the browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent = true

It needs a browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent = true No Related option

The problem occurs when I either open a new tab (ctrl+t) and type something in the bar, or open link in new tab (ctrl+link). The tab shows the html link only (no site title), without the site logo, no new tab firefox logo or anything loaded from the page. It doesn't even try to load and have a loading circle, but instantly giving up on loading. It appears tabs like this (previously not loading) won't load anything. If I open a new tab with the same query, it executes just fine. The problem also happens at random, with no pattern detected by me. It is an annoying problem when opening multiple new tabs having to search which one did not load. I tired changing browser.sessionstore.max_serialize_back to <10>50 number but with no effect. Using the current version 91.0.1 (64-bit). I don't want to delete cache and cookies, since it is not a real solution.

After searching in the browser bar, and then getting results, i click on hyperlinks from the results and new tabs open. I explore the subsequent open tabs, and then at some point, the search functions quit working in all tabs, and i need to restart firefox to correct the issue (searching in the main browser bar ).

If i type an actual address - it will sometimes "clear the glitch" and the "searching in the broswer bar" may start working again...

Any ideas why the search function would not respond from time to time?

However, the Word document didn't save and now I need to find those tabs. They are not in the Restore Previous Session because I purposely closed them individually. And my computer was started and re-started several times during it's service. Is there a way to find tabs that I CLOSED yesterday????? Please help

bold textRecently Firefox has started opening a new tab all by it's self. I didn't ask for one, don't need one. It's also switching to an open tab without input from me. For instance, I am here trying to ask a question and it jumped to a tab that I have open to check the weather. My mouse hasn't moved, I haven't hit the tab key, nor have I touched the screen. What is going on? I uninstalled and reinstalled and it's still doing it. It's driving me nuts. I'm running the latest version on Windows 10 64 bit.

Hi all, I tend to have two different Firefox browser windows open as I toggle quite a bit (works faster for me than going to and from with the mouse). In the past up to version 89 on my FF for desktop I could hover (when using the mouse) over the one or other firefox and it showed me small preview pictures (the ones looking like what is called "tiles" from windows explorer) Since updating to v91 these have gone and all I see now is a list of text description of which tabs I have open in the one, and when toggling then a text line or lines of which tabs I have open there. I tried some solution already but all it did was packing all the text lines for both browser windows into one large pop-up at the bottom but not any pictures.

This might be a Windows issue but when searching for it I got overwhelmed with what seems a gazillion solutions and none for what I was looking for.

It would be great if you could let me know what to do to get these lovely little preview pictures back, they made my life soooo much easier! Thanks already for your replies :)

I find it hard to distinguish tabs after the theme change a few months ago. I switch back the theme, but now when the old theme setting is no longer respected (you get the new theme anyway), I need another solution.

In this ticket a temporary solution was mentioned, but it has now been removed. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1337885

So how do we get separators between tabs? I would like to switch back to Firefox, but not being able to separate the tabs is enough of a deal-breaker for me to switch browser. It should at least be an accessibility option.

Please, please, please, stop changing things that were working just fine. Every time you make one of these pointless UI changes it pushes me towards Chrome. I really prefer Firefox and have used it almost exclusively for over a decade. But how am I supposed to be able to use it when I literally can't read the interface? With every update I am sent to google various solutions posted by other users trying to remedy problems caused by the latest update. I shouldn't have to dive into about:config every time the FF developers decide to play with the source code. I shouldn't have to install UI addons to maintain intuitive workflow. I shouldn't have to append userChrome.css with code copy-pasted from some forum. And this is to say nothing of the users that are inexperienced enough or unwilling to make such changes. Most just switch to Chrome. Sure, some of it is personal preference. "Do you like large tabs or small tabs? Do you like square tabs or rounded tabs?" But when I LITERALLY CANT READ THEM, that's not something ANY user should have to google or fix on their end. That is the developers dropping the ball. Fix this. Firefox developers, YOU fix this. Because I am DONE with midnight scrambles to repair what someone else broke.

Hello. I'm a long-time Firefox user but this is the first time I have posted here.

I just changed my OS (I'm now on MX Linux 19) and I assume the version of Firefox I now have (91.0 64 bit) is newer than the one I was using. (I was on ubuntu 16.04)

The appearance has changed in a way that has reduced accessibility for me. When the active tab is the first or last tab, I get confused and think that the active tab is actually the adjacent one. It is only a few seconds of confusion but it keeps throwing me off.

I've realised why this is. The active tab is now a floating box. It is not attached in any way to the area below. All the other tabs *do* look like they are connected to the area below but they do not have any visible borders, except for the tab next to the active tab.

I tried a few different themes and I found that some that break this new convention (yay!) but the text/background contrast was lower and made reading difficult. (I can read black text on white background easily but find many other colour combinations difficult.)

I'm now using a theme that sticks with the new convention but makes the active tab yellow while other tabs are mid blue, which makes the active tab very obvious. I can read the text fairly well but it's not as good as black on white for me: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/high-contrast-color/

I read in a stack-exchange question that installing the Firefox Color extension would allow me to have more control over appearance. Unfortunately, I don't seem to be able to change just one thing, e.g. just change the colour of the active tab in the system theme. Instead, as soon as I change one thing, Firefox Color changes the colours of everything else that it has control over.

Is there a way to make the active tab more prominent without taking on a completely new colour scheme and without having to do any coding?

Thanks for any help.
