I can browse web pages fine, but I cannot gain access to login to my FireFox Account. I have had to use another browser to post this as I needed to login to my Forefox Account in order to do so.

Why am I seen these symbols?

I try to add the two-step-authentication to my account, but when I scan the QR-code and enter the generated security code I get the error message "two-step-authentication required"; so it tells me I have to enable two-step-authentication before I can enable two-step-authentication?

I am IT techie, and I need FF help on this. I searched the entire sync issue forum, but of no avail.

I had a Windows 10 update issue so I decided to format my PC. My sync was enabled and all data was synced normally. I went ahead and formatted it, and installed a new copy of Win 10, and all softwares, including FF. Now after syncing for over an hour, I cannot find anything. No history, no bookmarks, no logins, nothing.

This is definitely something to do with your update. I cannot figure anything else out. How can I get my old data back? This is absolutely ridiculous and frustrating.

I have 2 other laptops with FF synced, but they aren't booting up either because of hardware failures. I cannot risk turning them back on, and loosing my FF data from those laptops.

Please advise, how to access my cloud data on FF, or should I switch over to Google chrome because of your incompetency?

I tried to disconnect all my devices then reconnect, i "forced" synchro, i installed the Lockwise Android app on my phone but but the sync runs in a vacuum so the app doesnt seem to download my data & credentials...

What can i do more to recover my data or restore sync ?

Up until recently I was using a 11 year old laptop that was slowing dying. I was finally able to acquire a new computer and get it up and running just before an accident (as if out of a comedy movie - the roommate's cat knocked a full bowl of cereal onto the old laptop) effectively destroyed the old machine. Thankfully, Firefox Sync meant that everything I had been working on appeared when I got the new machine fully functional...until I logged on to Firefox this evening to find my Synced Tabs empty with just a "Want to see your tabs from other devices here? Connect Another Device" message.

The old device is toast...I don't know if it will even turn on again, much less function enough to sign into Firefox. Synced Tabs was also working just fine for a solid week until it just up and disappeared. Is there some way to restore these? I know it's my fault for relying/expecting Sync to always be there and not backing up the links I had open immediately, and this is a mistake I won't make again...but I'd really love to not lose everything I had open.

Thank you very much in advance for any help or suggestions.

A couple months ago, I got my mom to switch from Chrome to Firefox. She ordered a new computer from a computer exchange company recently, so she asked me to sync her browser data from her old computer to her new computer.

I signed her up for a Firefox account, and when turning Sync on, it asked me to set up a second device. Since the new computer hadn't arrived yet, I decided to use Firefox Sync with another computer in the house. I installed Firefox on the device (it had never been installed before on that device) and hooked up her Firefox account. As expected, everything synced perfectly. The page telling me to connect another device still appeared, but I assumed that was because she hadn't connected a phone yet.

When the new computer arrived the next morning, the old computer had already been shut down and sent to the company, and the other computer in the house was still running but didn't have Firefox open to the best of my knowledge. I installed Firefox on it (again, didn't come pre-installed and had never been installed before) and hooked up her Firefox account. This time, everything synced perfectly... except for the bookmarks.

Only about 2-3 dozen of them transferred, along with one folder with a dozen more. (There were quite a few, potentially around 1-2 thousand.) The only bookmarks on the toolbar were the Getting Started page and a blank-titled bookmark leading to a "compose email" page. The rest were nowhere to be found. When I opened up Firefox on the other computer in the house, Firefox Sync had conveniently overwritten all of the bookmarks with what was on the new computer!

Everything else, including the history, passwords, and add-ons, were preserved perfectly. I tried everything on Recover lost or missing Bookmarks and Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer to no avail, since the other computer in the house didn't auto-backup the bookmarks after Sync transferred them. I even gave it a couple of days like the article suggested, and still nothing. There's no chance that the computer exchange company had anything to do with it, since they have a no-touch policy of 30 days in case there's problems with the new computer.

Is there any chance that the bookmarks still exist somewhere? It's not a huge problem, since my mom told me that she's fine with the bookmarks being gone, and she would have ordered the old computer back if they were that important to her. I'm just unsure what might happen to the data in the future, or even what might happen to my own Firefox data, and hope that an answer might be helpful to others with the same problem but greater stakes.

The browser data provided along with this article is that of my mom's new computer, and should be true for the other browsers involved as well -- except for the old computer, which was Windows 7.

My old computer crashed. I lost all my passwords. However, I had signed up for a firefox account and told it to save all my pasword and bookmarks.

Now I'm on another computer, I can log into firefox but I can see no place whatsoever to sync the online data I saved from the old computer to this one.

How is this done? None of the articles online even remotely match what I am seeing.

I have a Firefox account. I signed out of my account and then signed in with my 90 yr. old father's Firefox login since he had a question about storing passwords. Now when I'm signed in as him, all of my personal logins and passwords are in his account. When he signs in at his home, will he see my personal logins? If so, how do I ensure my personal info is completely deleted from his account?

One other question: He wants Firefox to remember his Gmail address, but wants to manually type in his Gmail password. Is there any way to do this? The only options I could find were to delete both his login and password or remember both his login and password.

I've exported/imported firefox settings before (bookmarks, etc) but this time I didn't get a chance to export before my computer blew up. So when I logged on to Firefox on my new computer, I didn't have my password. It forced me to reset my password....but then none of my bookmarks transferred over. I thought they would be tied to my login and I could still recover them without the files from my old hard drive. That doesn't seem right to me, what am I missing? How do I recover the bookmarks saved on my Firefox login? I had soooo many....

thanks in advance!

Hi, I'm using both Linux and Windows on my computer. I've got problem with firefox sync, on Windows I'm using program like IDM and also use it's extension on Firefox. Meanwhile, on Linux this extension is useless. If I turned it off while on Linux, when I relogin to Windows, this extension also get turned off, I understand this is due to Firefox sync nature, but its so ineffective if I've got to turn it on and off while switching between OS.

Is there any workaround for this?

TIA

Hello, I have a Mozilla/Firefox account and I have firefox both on my desktop and on my phone (Android). However, everytime I open my desktop Firefox or go to a Mozilla page, I am advertised and asked to connect my android device, to have firefox on more than one device, and/or sign up for a mozilla account. So I am unclear on whether something is wrong with my accounts or this is just normal.

Thanks.

Hi. I am moving my Firefox settings from the old IBM to the new MintBox computer. Both run Linux Mint. Procedure so far followed:

1. Bring over key4.db and logins.json 2. Sign in to Firefox sync and import everything.

Over here I got my custom settings to save all cookies, even third party cookies, for the session. There were Exceptions, which did not come over. (Here I will Allow Always the websites I keep a cookie to log in automatically or set site preferences. I may even blockm certain third party sites from storing cookies. These deviate from the default, to allow for session.)

I did not get the custom thumbs I created over there for my New Tab start page pinned sites. I got the pinned sites OK.

This didn't work: I copied the .mozilla folder from my home and pasted it here by way of a flash driveafter backing up this profile. That didn't work when I brought Firefox up from a Thunderbird Mail link.

So now I looked to see what my Profile folder is called, stored in my home/.thunderbird/firefox/{Profile} as found under Firefox Help > Troubleshooting. I copied that folder onto a flash drive and have it available here.

How best to proceed? First I back .mozilla up, then open Firefox and go to the Troubleshooting page and open my active Profile. Then:

Copy selected files from my Profile over on the Flash drive and paste them individually here?

Delete everything here before pasting in a copy of the contents of the imported profile?

Don't delete anything here and paste contents of my imported file, overwriting?

I am tending to want to go with the first choice, adding or replacing files here with selected files from the imported copy sitting on the flash drive.

Is there a specific list and description of the various profile files I need to paste in? An up-to-date reference containing this info?

[b]Running Linux Mint 19.3 64-bit MATE on the old IBM Running Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon on the new MintBox Mini 2 (Pro)/b

Thank you.
