Good morning, I am using Firefox since 14 years, and all the time it has been my favourite Internet Browser and I advised every friend of mine to choose this internet browser. But I am afraid it's gonna change soon. I lost my laptop, it was stolen. I store my history from a couple of years, bookmarks, saved passwords. I had a backup by MozBackup on May 2019. On December I copied a profile as it was written in your guides: (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles) I copied everything from: %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ I hadn't investigate what is inside. And after i bought a new laptop I had many problems with Firefox, can someone explain me please: 1. I couldn't login to Sync, due i hadn't remembered my password - ok its my fault, but when i wanted to reset i would lose all my data?! Why is that? I can understand due to its encrypted but... Luckly after some combination i recovered my password. 2. So i copied my profile as it was written in your guide, and i hadn't investigate what is inside. Now when i tried to copy my whole profile its not working, why? Well, i checked and there were no file: places.sqlite . I have no clue why, so my backup from December is lost. 3. You informed people about Syncing, why there is nowhere information that you syncing history, yes, but only 2 months??!! You claim that we will have bookmarks, saved passwords, cache and history yes thats true, but history for only 8 weeks..... I understand that it has many bytes to store, but it should be somewhere information about it! If i would knew that i would be more prepared for lost, and did more often proper backup by MozBackup. I feel now very frustrated about this situation, and first time after 14 years I'm very, very disappointed with Firefox. Can someone explain me please, why is that? Thank you for reply! Kind regards

I Cannot reset a (supposed my) PIN that able me to view a password saved. Firefox asks me for a PIN which I do not know, when I want to reset the PIN it points me to "Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options", but neither in Firefox Options (that I have to assume is referring to with "Settings") nor Firefox Sync account settings there exists such a "Sign-in options". These are the steps I followed to locate "Settings" and "Accounts" and "Sign-in options"

1. I went to Firefox Options and searched for "Accounts" 1. I went to Firefox Sync Settings > Manage Accounts 1. Also I attempted to try with another account but I do not have / I do not remember the password if any, it is not the same of my main account password because it does not work.

But I could not get the given "Sign-in options". How can I reset the PIN or just delete it because I do not remember when I had to create it neither what it is?

I know the email and password of my account, Firefox could send me a PIN reset request to my email, the one I am registered to Ffx Sync.

Hello,

Since 3-4 days, Sync no longer synchronizes any elements, from one device to another i no longer have access to my passwords saved in Lockwise or my shared tabs. I tried to disconnect all my devices then reconnect, i "forced" synchro, i installed the Lockwise Android app on my phone but but the sync runs in a vacuum so the app doesnt seem to download my data & credentials...

What can i do more to recover my data or restore sync ?

Dear all,

I am planning a move towards the Firefox ESR 78.6.x. Currently my customer is using the Firefox Rapid Release 84.x and need your help with the profile migration. The customer has a very isolated on-premises environment and does not allow the users to login into a Firefox-Account. Therefore the settings for Cookies, Cache, History and especially Bookmarks are not synched.

Environment details:

  • Enterprise environment with several tausends of clients
  • All clients on Windows 10 Enterprise between 1809 and 20H2
  • All clients have always the newest Firefox installed currently 84.x

This creates a huge challenge to sync this stuff. Therefore I have now identified the following two options:

  1. 1 Allow the downgrade by using the environment variable MOZ_ALLOW_DOWNGRADE on Windows. For this option I am trying to find the real reason why this "Downgrade-Stop" has been implemented in the first place? What risks in detail do I take to allow this downgrade? Has anybody done this before and do you mind to share your experience here? How many issues did you face and how did you remediate the issues?
  1. 2 Hand over the migration to the users. Copy their current profile to their desktop and ask them to import their bookmarks manually. Not preferred by users and I can't even blame them for.

Is there any other way to automatically sync the profiles from 84.x to ESR 78.6.x without user interaction?

I don't have any account icon in my tool bar and no option to sync. I try to login/sign up to sync through this page https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/sync/ and the loading icon just spins and spins and spins and spins and spins for.ev.er. Please help. I just want my browser to sync on different devices.

I have Firefox 73.0 (64 bit) on Windows 7 and am moving to Windows 10 using Laplink (yeah, ok). Laplink does not seem to see this version of Firefox to transfer over. So, I used sync on the Win 7 unit for everything and downloaded Firefox 73.0 (64 bit) to the Win 10 unit, and then logged on and synced. Everything seemed to move over except the browsing history. How do I get browsing history to transfer to Windows 10? Thanks.

After updating to 73.0.1(64-bit), it seems I cannot edit Bookmark properly

I can change Folder name, delete/edit Bookmark Entry ... etc Once I Copy/Make new Folder, the Bookmark seems ... locked

No more changes can be made before rebooting the system

It is happening on both Windows, and macOS, both on 73.0.1

※It seems to be very OK on another computer with lower version, but it also stopped working after automatically updating to 73.0.1

Tried booting in Inrecognito(No Extension Allowed, and it appears to have same problem)

Wonder if is a known problem?

I just got a new computer and my Firefox sync that I set up that computer had bookmarks, my theme, and how I had things laid out, I tried for over an hour trying to get Firefox to sync, but after it's still the same, I was also switching from Windows 7 to Windows 10 which made it even more nauseating

To make a long story short, I created This Firefox account to get support creating another Firefox account... After trying to set up "sync" on my laptop (where I normally browse using Firefox – I am writing this from the desktop that I wanted to get synced) I got an error message with the heading: "Cannot create account", followed by the text: "You must meet certain age requirements to create a Firefox Account." This is strange, since I am 19 years old (I suspect that I entered the wrong nubmer). I really want to get my laptop and its profiles synced, since much work has been put into browser-personalization. How do I fix this problem?

I've lost all my login passwords , bookmarks and every single thing that can be synced. For some reason I had to reinstall windows so I made sure that I had synced everything in Firefox. But when I reinstalled Firefox and logged in , everything was gone. There was nothing that I had synced and it wasn't there even in the restore option in the bookmark menu. Can anyone please help me to get my synced Items back?

I have tried waiting for more than 24h, not working, and submitted a request at Bugzilla (maybe it's because I didn't write the request in the right way so I haven't got response yet).

Trying to get the sync to work with this laptop and my iMac, too, not just with my cellphone. But when I click to connect with another device, it only offers a window to put my cellphone number in, which is already synced!! How am I supposed to sync to my other computer, without going round & round in circles???? The image below is the only thing that opens when I click on "Connect another device"...

I've got Firefox 72.0.2 on two systems, one old (10,000+ history items) and one new (200 history items). Both are logged in with the same Firefox account. I've enabled history sync on both and clicked "Sync Now".

The new Firefox install is not getting, at any usable rate, the history from the old Firefox install.

What I've already tried:

1. Log out of my Firefox account on both systems and log in again on both systems. 2. Restart both systems. 3. Disconnect & reconnect from their network connections (obviously, both are browsing the internet just fine) 4. Repeatedly click "Sync Now" in Firefox Options.

System Details:

1. Both are Firefox 72.0.2 and Windows 10 x64 1909 (build 18363) 2. Both are connected to high-speed internet (100 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload) 3. Both have zero extensions enabled except Bitwarden (password manager).

What is wrong with Firefox Sync here and why is it not syncing any data?
