Hi. I'm asking this question because I'm not quite sure how to describe this issue through a Google search. Recently, I've noticed that whenever I click and drag anything, an icon will pop up while I'm doing so. Attached is an example, I click-and-dragged on the "Learn More" hyperlink off to the right.

Is there any way to disable the icon that pops up? It bothers me and seems to slow things down, which isn't ideal. I'm not the most well-versed when it comes to Firefox's more advanced settings (the options in about:config and whatnot) so I wouldn't know where to start.

Dear Mozilla Firefox Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to seek guidance on how to disable settings pop-ups in Firefox, as I find them to be somewhat intrusive to my browsing experience.

While I appreciate the various features and options Firefox provides, I prefer to have a more streamlined experience without the frequent interruptions caused by these pop-ups. They can be distracting and make it difficult for me to focus on the content I am viewing.

Could you please provide me with detailed instructions on how to manage or disable these specific pop-ups? If there are any settings or configuration changes I should be aware of, I would be grateful for your assistance in helping me achieve a more unobtrusive browsing environment.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response. Dear Mozilla Firefox Support Team,

New address bar "https trimming" behavior

Hi everyone,

I'm on 140.0.2 / Win10

My current about:config:

browser.urlbar.trimHttps false browser.urlbar.trimURLs true browser.urlbar.untrimOnUserInteraction.featureGate false

I noticed the new https trimming, but when I double-click (e.g. to select a word in the URL) to copy or change a part, the https pops back, shifting where my cursor is relative to where it was, which is annoying for having to reposition the cursor.

Disabling `browser.urlbar.trimURLs` should make sense to revert to no-trimming, but it didn't work.

`browser.urlbar.untrimOnUserInteraction.featureGate` being false already shouldn't have caused the issue I described.

Many thanks in advance!

I tried to use a ftp link setting firefox as the default ftp app, not realizing firefox no longer supports ftp. I am unable to reset the default app and can't find the setting to do so. I downloaded filezilla and wish to set it to be the default app for ftp. Can someone help me with this? Before anyone suggests it, resetting firefox to default settings is not an option.

I used once entering about about:config to enable DOT setting in my android phone but have not yet completed network.trr.uri.Later on, tried to do it but cannot access using about:config any more. Please advise, as your recent online instruction allow windows laptop to set automatically using security and privacy to go to Https setting to enable it. Not so, for android devices, even using chrome://geckoview/content/config.xhtmi, it does not go directly to enable Https setting. Any recent updates to do it. I understand that the restrictions are good to prevent most users and not developers to adjust the defaults. But why not making simpler only for most users to tweak or enable DOT setting, just like brave. Thank you for your understanding and attention. Regards Francis

Tried making new profile which works for awhile, but sooner or later they all bump it to the 2nd monitor and it never comes back - tried moving to primary and closing it there, but next time back on #2. Open 2nd window while first is on primary, and that goes to 2nd monitor...

I have tried MANY times to make Firefox remain persistent as my browser. It appears I should log into an Administrative account to do so. Microsoft Edge appears to be the problem by remaining the default. I was told by the Tech Sprt for my Asus laptop to "delete" Edge. I entered the Administrative account using DOS. So many changes have taken place since I last used this account that I'm uncomfortable trying to take this approach. I was led to an administrative directory using "search" end while there was able to get a directory listing using DOS. But can't proceed. I really need the Windows pictorial version to proceed or technical support (preferred). Whoever helps must be fully capable.

Asus TS said I must delete MS Edge. The person seemed capable, but if I delete Edge, which I haven't found a way to do so safely, that may create problems but makes sense to do so because of the interference of MS Edge. My memory on how to proceed is that this process was MUCH less complex. I've read a number accounts by others with the same problem. My reasons for using Firefox, as an private engineer are to help prevent the stealing of intellectual property from wherever. Otherwise I'll have to abandon everything.
