I have years of bookmarks that have disappeared and my history is missing. Firefox opens with the tabs that were open when it shut down. I really want my bookmarks back.

Since the last upgrade I have lost ALL bookmarks, History, everything is gone, Passwords also

I tried loading the old profile god knows what it is called, and there's still nothing

WHY DOESN'T FIREFOX BACKUP EVERYTHING BEFORE FORCING CHANGES

TURNS ME OFF USING FIREFOX.

All my bookmarks disappeared and the bookmark button does not work. I have refreshed Firefox - no change. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox but still no restoration of Bookmark button functionality. OS Win10

All my data that I had in Firefox is gone. I have been using Firefox for 3 years now and had bookmarks and accounts set up. Today I opened firefox and logged in and they asked for recovery key out of nowhere now all my data is gone. If I dont get access to my bookmarks and saved accounts I will be switching to a different browser.

Just updated my Firefox. I had a huge tab group saved, and tons of bookmarks. I've been using firefox for months, I didn't have an account signed in on the browser though. I updated it and it had to restart, and everything was gone when it reopened. I even clicked that it should reopen tabs after restarting, but it just opened to tell me to make a profile. It told me that they just introduced profiles, and it put me on profile 1, which looked brand new. No browsing history whatsoever, no bookmarks, my background that I set is gone, and I cannot find anythign at all. I had over 50 bookmarks, inclyding very imprtant links for a final paper, and I'm genuinely so upset. Multiple of those bookmarks were things for me to go back to read/watch later and I will literally not be able to find them. If anyone has any tips at all, I'd love them. I am so seriously upset right now and I'm just hoping its possible for that to come back.

I woke up this morning and opened firefox. Normally it opens the days previous tabs and this morning it didn't. When I tried 'restore recent tabs' it didn't do it. When I went into history and found the previous day's back up and tried to restore it also failed. Can you help?

Desktop Computer. Still on Windows 10.

Not sure of category. This began when I launched the computer today. I opened Firefox and got the message "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional because ....."

When I started to shut down the computer (first mentioned step here) I saw there's a Window update. I selected Update and Restart. That went okay, but still don't have my Firefox bookmarks.

So I clicked on Learn more. I found the Firefox > Profiles folder. There are two folders, one from today - qkuxm6ws.default-release - 15...... 0196 with 94 items, and 7ghfiw 15.default, from Jan 5, 2021, with 3 items. I assume I should use the one with today's date.

BUT .... from this point, the information on this website was full of information - NOT step-by-step information telling me what to do with which files in this folder.

Also, I have McAfee as well as Windows Defender. I opened Windows Defender Firewall. State is On. Notification state: Notify me when Windows Defender Firewall blocks a new app. I've gotten no such messages.

Under allowed apps and features:

 "Firefox ... private not checked; public checked.."  
 "Firefox (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox" - private is checked, public not checked.  

Can't make changes.

Under Overview window: Not checked is "Inbound connections that do not match a rule are blocked."

• • • • In the "Monitoring\Firewall folder" - Firefox (with path) is listed twice. Both entries have Private, Allow, NO Override -
      • Differences - the first has UDP; the second has TCP. Nothing under "Group."

My last bookmarks backup was Jan 2025. 😕 😟

I don't know where else to look or what to do. Please help. Kami

with this new version i lost everything i need to get back to an older version and get all my extentions my bookmarks back all my s desktop items that i had linked to firefox are gone i can no longer get face book or anything back to firefox book marks every thing i had with firefox

All my Firefox bookmarks are GONE. I followed the directions for restoration, and the Restore (etc) window has nothing in it. I saved the bookmarks to a JSON (HTML) file on an external hard drive, but I cannot find a way to restore them. I'm just about tired of Firefox and the consistent problems. Please restore my faith. Thank you.
