It seems that Firefox frequently loses window focus when I open a new page. It may be a bookmark, a link opened into a new tab via CTRL+Left-Click, or whatever. The following scenario always results in the window losing focus (for me).

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Open this link and bookmark it.
  3. Close and reopen Firefox.
  4. Open the page just bookmarked using the bookmark list and don't touch the window.

I read this page daily, so when I start Firefox and open the page, I have to click in it so as to scroll, etc..

Firefox 13, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I wish this site had "Preview" for its posts. Geez Louise.

Having two tabs open, memory rises slowlyall by itself, to where the main process is using almost 2.2GB and the plugin containers are taking up about another 1.2GB by themselves. CLosing Firefox didn't help. I had to go to task managed and End Process...I've got 4GB RAM and an intel Core 2 Duo CPU. Yes, everything is updated...

What's up with this? Please Mozilla, make FF awesome again!

I am running Windows 7 64 bit and Firefox is my browser. All of a sudden I can not play videos at places like Democracy Now and many other web sites (E.G. Malcolm Gladwell) but most of Youtube is okay - except sometimes. I thought this may have been due adGuard but disengaging it or starting FF clean with no ad ons has no effect.

I was just informed by Costco Concierge Services that the reason is that both FireFox and Google Chrome have decided to “no longer support” certain add ons or plug ins (what is the difference if any between these tech terms of art?) and therefore if I can not play a video I will have to use Internet Explorer. Discovering what videos I can or can not use is a hit an miss case by case basis.

So, first is this true? I can not imagine Firefox or Google Chrome making a change that would actually require its users of many years to bump their prime product and, instead, turn to its prime competitors. That seems like suicidal sabotage. We are just every day end-users and not software engineers and the explanations I find are absolutely incomprehensible technobabble.

In plain English what is the real problem? What is the fix? And has Firefox actually decided to make us dump Firefox and turn to its competitor just to watch certain videos? Has Democracy Now decided to continue using a video format that is no longer supported by FF?

The attached pic is just and example. DN uses jW player but I find this problem at other web sites too.

I have Firefox 56 and Windows 7. My computer froze while Firefox and the Library were open and I had to force restart. My browsing history and bookmarks were completely deleted. I restored my bookmarks from a backup, but that didn't restore my browsing history. That history is EXTREMELY important -- I can't bookmark every website I visit, so I need history to return to a site I visited before.

A few days ago I made a copy of my entire Firefox folder from C:/Users/Ellen/AppData/Roaming/Mozilla. Where in that do I find my browsing history and where do I copy them to? I already tried copying the places.sqlite and prefs.js files from the copy into my actual profile but that didn't restore anything that I can see.

At the same time as making that copy, I installed FF56 to replace FF57, so I might have a restore point from then.

Since I downloaded the latest version - 6.0 of Firefox, I am having serious slowness of page loads. Nothing has changed in my PC or Network configuration and in the past have had very fast loading of everything - even streaming of videos, etc. The only thing I found in your help about all pages loading slowly was something about a proxy add ons issue - but I don't have that enabled. It seems to be even worst when I am submitting a form -

windows 7. I was on ff5 and life was wonderful. one day while clicking the okay to open firefox button, it was as though I was hijacked into a 6.0 upgrade. from that moment on, my yahoo home page "modified" to some beta version, all of my email page display fonts (in both aol and yahoo) have reduced to a size so tiny I can barely read it, any web browsing freezes about every 5 minutes no matter what I'm doing - whether composing mail, playing a crossword, writing this forum paragraph, switching tabs, opening drop down menus......anything done while the browser window is open. yet, I close out firefox/mozilla and instead open internet explorer and life is totally back to normal. font sizes are large, pages dont freeze, my yahoo page is back to normal............wtf?! I've rolled back to 5.0, back to 3.6 and still I get the freezing, page reformatting, email downsizing, etc. this is AWFUL! it has affected my entire web experience. I dont wish to use IE as it has too many issues of its own.

what did firefox do to my puter and how can this be fixed?

pretty simple, I go to the addons and it curtly says.......Norton Toolbar is incompatible with Firefox 38.0.1. So I have gon3 back to firefox version37.0.2 which I was warned has SERIOUS security problems.

Firefox is starting to sound like Microsoft in its "explanations". It worked before now when I upgrade it is suddenly not compatible.

We all know that the coders made a mistake in the nwest version.....so why not fix it. I am beginning to think I may go back to Internet Explorer ......

So Firefox, when will you make Firefox compatible with the extremely popular norton toolbar, ID Vault etc.

I don't think any settings users proipose will fix this...only MOZILLA can.
