how do i;

get rid of the blue starred edit bookmark which is of no use to anyone ?

dark mode as its too bloody dark , without changing my 'theme' ? the crap surround on tabs ? i know which tab i'm on , or even change the colour at least . the line beneath tabs that goes along the whole screen ? 'page info' back to where it was before it was moved for no reason what so ever ? and any other updated crap i havent come across yet .

still no tabs below , so many tweaks here and there and yet f/f still doesnt give us what we want only what they want us to have .

Today I updated my Firefox Developer Edition to version 89.0b2 and now I just can not look at this browser anymore, "Inspired new tab design" is taking too much space and now became largest and at the same time least information-dense panel in my entire desktop! I searched around the web for a bit in hopes that I will find a theme or an add-on that will revert this particular change but no luck. I really want to revert to old UI look (at least tabs bar), there should be default theme or option to get back to old style. After some investigation I found userChrome.css but don't really want to install it (maybe this is actually the way of doing this kind of styling). Please help me revert UI design to old one.

Hi,

Just got version 89.0 installed. And I totally don't like what happened to the tabs. They are visually disconnected from the page they belong to and transformed to some kind of buttons (at least when selected. When not slected only the caption is visible) . I cannot even imagine why such a useless change is done, but in terms of UI design this is not a good step. It makes things less clear.

I would like to have to old tabs back, but cannot find a theme which can do this.

Is there a setting with which I can set to old tabstyle back?

Thnx

Whoever thought Firefox 89 was a good idea is not someone with whom I agree. 89 is awful - I disregarded the update notice for days but then got sick of the reminder. BAD idea on my part. Is there any way to get rid of the topmost "tab" - they ARE NOT tabs - bar? I really liked the previous tabs that LOOKED LIKE TABS and DID NOT TAKE UP MORE ROOM on the page. Can I go back to the previous version? This one is really bad. Like, REALLY bad. Firefox "developers" need to give an option to check out the new update before committing to it.

I have very recently upgraded to Version 89.0 (Windows 10) and I can't help but wonder why some key characteristics have been changed for the worse. The display format for the Bookmarks list is now spaced so large that my Bookmarks no longer fit on a single screen, and I can find no adjustment available to users. Also, the new tab screen no longer shows the image of the page, making the display less useful. What was broken in these features that Mozilla found a need to "fix" them? Is there anything a user can do to "undo" these changes?

I finally turned off the menu bar some time back and started using the Bookmarks Menu Button (the little star with an underline). With v89, the dropdown menu from this is huge. The fonts are a lot bigger than in v88, and for some reason, there are now two "Manage bookmarks" items, one at the top and one at the bottom. Is there any way, either official or through userChrome.css, to choose a small font? I already have a userChrome.css that I used to remove items from the old Bookmarks menu on the menu bar, but those don't apply to the BM Button.

Hello My desktop Firefox (iMac) did an automatic update and now I have the floaty tab redesign and I intensely dislike it. Is there a way to make the tabs look like how they did before? I am so unhappy. It's ugly and I can't tell the tabs apart very well (they have no dividing graphics). I am this close ---><--- to Time Machining myself back to the previous Firefox version. Help? 2 or 3 weeks ago I allowed Firefox to update, something I don't usually do, on the promise of a better browser. Foolish me Will I ever learn ? I can honestly say I see nothing improved from the Firefox I have used for years but found one big problem. The drop down menus have been altered to double or triple spacing, admittedly easier to read but, with years of use, my menus are large and now take forever to find the address I am looking for. How do I restore single spacing in drop down menus?

First of all: I tried to "give feedback" first, by going to that crowdicity website. I had to create an account, then I created an "idea" but it wasn't even allowed by the mods.

The 89 design is not user friendly, it takes away too much of my screen. I want to see the website, not some bloated tabs. And what on earth is meant by unsupported in the customize menu when I try to select compact? I always recommendet Firefox, among my friends and family as well as among my customers. Since day 1 I was with you, but this is just the absolute opposite of user friendliness. Even Microsoft Edge shows more of the actual website, I'm trying to look at. No "unsupported" compact mode needed, it is already even less obstrusive than that.

There were so many users who begged you not to do this. But you didn't listen. I want to be nice and kind but you gotta listen to your users, not just rely on your telemetry data. If someone chooses to install Firefox, a lot of people have the ability and knowledge to turn off that stuff. Those are your most loyal users. Listen to them.

Is there some way to reduce the white space / padding between bookmark and menu items in the new Proton interface introduced in Firefox 89? I don't have a touchscreen and all the extra white space just means more scrolling to navigate through my bookmarks.

The AskVG site has a 02-June-2021 article at https://www.askvg.com/tip-restore-old-classic-theme-and-ui-in-firefox-89-and-later-versions/ that explains how to disable all the new Proton interface changes in about:config, but is there one specific hidden preference / flag (e.g., browser.proton.toolbar.version) mentioned in that article that controls the spacing between bookmarks and menu items?

There is a also a companion article on AskVG titled https://www.askvg.com/tip-restore-compact-mode-density-option-in-firefox-customize-window/ with instructions on how to change two Density options (browser.compactmode.show and browser.uidensity) in about:config, but I have no idea if changing my density setting to "Compact" would actually decrease white space (padding) between bookmark and menu items.

Hello,

I just installed the new update. The new tab design is totally confusing/unclear to me. Especially the fact that the new tabs don't have a "seperator-line" to the next tab. Thats totally disturbing to me. It's really difficult for me to keep the overview about my normally around 60 tabs now. Is there an option to switch back to the old tabs look and feel? Are there other options to customize the look of the tab bar?

Thanks in advance and Greetz!
