Until about a month ago, every time I clicked on a download link to save a file, Firefox asked whether I want to save the file to my downloads folder, or to just open it, which would save it to a folder in my temp folder that would be deleted when I close Firefox.

Now, out of nowhere, it doesn't ask the question anymore, it automatically assumes I want to save it to a folder (instead of "opening" it).

Before anyone tells me to go to Settings -> General -> Applications, and set the file types to "Always ask", I have tried, and there are two problems with it:

  • There are only a few file types in that list. While I can set Firefox to ask when downloading those types of files, anything else (like text files or MP3 files) is saved to the downloads folder without asking. I want it to ask what to do with any file, not just the specific file types in that list.
  • Even for the file types that are available in the list, if I choose to open a file instead of downloading, it is still saved to my downloads folder instead of the temp folder, and is not deleted after I close Firefox.

Also, I'm using Manjaro Linux with KDE, and I also have the Plasma Integration extension installed on Firefox.

Dear Mozilla Community,

I would like to know when Firefox will be dropping Windows 7 support? I readed on some websites that Google Chrome will be dropped support for Windows 7 in 15 January 2022 year so I would like to know if there are any plans by Mozilla Developers to drop support for Windows 7?

I don't have computers with Windows 7 but my friends asked me about this because they know that I am active community member of Mozilla but I can't answer because I don't know so this is why I asked you today about this.

Yours faithfully, Piotr

Hi I am on Linux using Firefox-esr 91.5.0 and suddenly it started to show me that message on settings page. I have no Antivirus or anything. Were the problem comes from? On help/about page there's nothing mentioning the update restriction, neither when I click on the message. But it shows me a couple of different settings. Another thing that I've found so far is the setting "Always check if Firefox is your default browser" is unchecked AND disabled. I'm so worried about the issue, appreciate your help.

Linux distribution: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Firefox version: latest

I really, really need something to increase the size of all the icons in the toolbar. The size of the text is fine, but surprisingly the size of the icons is ridiculously small.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1260063

This thread does not help me, because for some reason the value '1.5' decreases the size, and the value '2' makes no difference at all.

A happy new year to everybody.

I cannot uninstall something which was NOT installed but keeps running..... A Linux command (CLI not GUI!) to permanently uninstall this offensive software would be appreciated.

I'm running Linux, and it seems that FireFox has locked itself in as the default browser... Since I am unable to modify that condition, is my only recourse to uninstall FireFox? Or, am I missing some secret handshake?

Hello, we develop an angular application. One of our users couldn't login any more. He uses Firefox 84.0.2 (64-Bit) under Mac. He get's the error `ERROR DOMException: The quota has been exceeded` in Console. Reloading Page even with COMMAND+R didn't work. We deleted the cashed files under settings, as displayed in https://user-media-prod-cdn.itsre-sumo.mozilla.net/uploads/gallery/images/2018-04-29-04-08-27-fabea4.png (with both checkboxes). It only worked when we deleted the file webappstorage.sqlite in profile folder. Is that a bug?

Thanks in advance.

Dear Mozilla Community,

I have problems with one website. This website is poczta.wp.pl. Sometimes this can't be loaded. I see this error:

"SSL_ERROR_INTERNAL_ERROR_ALERT".

This is website with https protocol. What is the reason? Other websites works fine. I think that this is not problem with my router or internet provider because I changed both and it is still problem there. I had this problem also on another computer with Windows 10 operating system. I contacted with administrator of this website and they think that all is okay so they suggested me that this can be problem with browser or my computer.

This behavior is very hard to test because this issue is showed very rare. Sometime one time in one week and sometimes two time in one day. I don't know what is going on with this.

Can you help?
