I am using Firefox with Default Search Engine set to Duck Duck Go. I seem to be unable to connect to duckduckgo.com be it either through typing my search in the address bar or duckduckgo.com. All I get is: "Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site." Internet connection seems fine (no trouble connecting to other sites). Sometimes clearing "Cached Web Content" helps but it is troublesome to clear cache after each browser restart. How can I get the Duck to work with the Fox?

Selected options: Use the address bar for search and navigation Default Search Engine - DuckDuckGo Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed

84.0.2 (64-bit) Mozilla Firefox for Manjaro Linux Manjaro - 1.0

I would be happy to provide any additional information if needed.

Is there an easier way to view two tabs on the screen at the same time - "split screen" fashion? One can open one tab in a second window and adjust to have one window on the top half of the display and the other on the bottom. But this is a awkward.

See screenshot of this. It shows downtown Minneapolis in Google maps at two different scales. (Note that the I35W crossing of the Mississippi in the upper right corner is the one that collapsed in 2011).

One can switch back and forth between two tabs (maybe after moving the two tabs to be adjacent). But this is still suboptimal.

I use splitscreen in my text editor all the time (vertically or horizontally) and find it very useful. I wish there were an easy way to switch to/from split screen in Firefox.

BTW I searched the Firefox "Find help..." for: "split screen" tabs and got 1640 hits! I looked at the first 10 pages and saw nothing relevant.

So after reinstalling Firefox my search engines changed and Google was removed completely. Only things left are Yahoo, Wikipedia, DuckDuckGo and Startpage whatever the hell that is. When I go to add Google as the main engine after clicking the three dots icon on the search bar where normally would be an option to add as a search engine, I don't have an option to do that. And when I'm clicking the Sign In button it tries to do something but returns to the Google home page. (sorry for the quality of the image, for some reason I wasn't able to take a screenshot)

I have cleared all of my history multiple times, and still, when I search something on my Address bar, earlier sites show up. This is especially annoying, as I had cleared my whole history a while ago, so it doesn't take up as much space. Earlier, when I wanted to go on Google (My default search engine is Duck Duck Go, but sometimes i need Google because Duck Duck Go doesn't show what I want), I'd just have to type "g" and press enter. Now when I press "g", it shows "gamingjs.com". How can I get rid of this Website?

Also, even if I type "google", the first suggestion is still "google - Search with DuckDuckGo".

I can't provide a screenshot, as the address bar collapses automatically when I make a screenshot.

Once again my account is locked on one of my computers. It says the email was returned but there was no email sent to the address. Oddly, the account is locked on one machine, the one that has been logged on the longest, but my other three machines have no trouble connecting and syncing. This seems to have happened after firefox updated itself (even though I had it set not to. It also removed all the settings I had spent a considerable amount of time customizing)

I am developing some html and javascript applications. During testing I use the windows.alert box to show some innerHTML values. This worked fine, until after a while, the Alert box window size changes to a small window, showing only the horizontal slider.

I have restarted the browser, but that didn't change anything.

What can I do to have the full Alert window back?

Thanks for your help, Jan

Let's fuck with the users and screw their saved bookmarks. Nice. Twice, over the past 2 months. And, my other extensions should In No Fucking Way be the Issue. C'mon developers, quit trying to make Firefox 'prettier'..! Just make it work consistently.

This problem has been bugging for a few months. I'm using Chromium now but would like to switch back to Firefox if a solution could be found. I'm not holding my breath as I've tried almost all suggestions. The thing is, Firefox just does not tell me why it cancels my download. It surely knows why it does it, so why not just split it out to help people fix it. My question then is, how do I tell Firefox to tell me why it fails?

https://support.mozilla.org/bm/questions/1286932#answer-1312559 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1316562

The problem is, my startpage still doesn't change to darkmode. All my about:* like settings, plugin and 'blank page' however does change with the system theme. Web pages like google also reacts fine to the change.

I can customize it, but I'd prefer for this to work on 'clean installs' as well :)

3 February 2021

I use a toolbar. Sorry, I'm old fashioned. When I install a new linux system, the first thing I do is change firefox to show the toolbar. There is a 'Bookmarks' item on the toolbar. When you click it, it gives you a menu of several options, including 'Bookmark This Page Ctrl+D'.

Until recently, clicking on that option opened a popup that allowed you to select a sub-folder to put the bookmark in. That was extremely useful because a flat list gets very long very quickly. You could of course just click on save bookmark in the popup and it gets added to the flat list, or, as I do, you could first select a sub-folder.

Now, clicking 'Bookmark This Page Ctrl+D' results in the bookmark immediately being saved to the flat list and a little alert momentarily pops up declaring 'saved to library'. Apparently 'library' is the same as 'other bookmarks'. How very clear (sarcasm). In addition to not knowing where the bookmark actually is, I now have to manually move it to the desired sub-folder with several other clicks. How convenient (sarcasm).

I want the old behavior back. How do I get it?

By the way, I am very old fashioned. I don't register with websites, even firefox. I used an email blackhole to sign up. I will come back here periodically (once a day) to see if there are any useful answers or questions asking for clarification. I've bookmarked this page, so it should be easy. When I'm done, I'll disappear forever, thank you very much.
