Almost every time I open Firefox it asks to update. I always say yes. After the update, it can't open any sites. Sometimes I get a message saying Firefox is already open. When I check the Task Manager, there are usually several instances of Firefox open. After ending all open Firefox's, I still can't open sites, it just runs until it times out. If I run a registry cleaner, and delete any bad registry entries, then Firefox will load sites. I feel like my Firefox may be corrupted and entering bad registry code. Is there a 'fix' I can run to correct these errors, or should I delete my Firefox and download a new copy. This problem started a few updates ago. I have the most current copy of Firefox, Version 133.0.3 (64-bit). I am running it on:

After a new update two days ago, Mozilla will not load. I get the error message: "ERROR: platform Version 133.0.3 is not compatible with miniVersion>=133.0 maxVersion<=133.0 Maybe try to install Firefox". When I klick the Mozilla icon nothing loads. I can't load any icon for a website. Prior to the update everything worked. I need Firefox working.

In older versions, there was an option to refuse updates, disable checking and any reminders.

In new versions, you kind of accidentally removed this option. And now a reminder "update update" and a green indicator regularly pop up in the right corner.

I previously deleted all Mozilla servers through the config file, disabled checking for updates. But it still restored the settings and now offers updates again - which irritates me terribly.

I supported Mozilla for many years and considered this browser to be something conservative, it has always been aloof from cumbersome and spyware browsers like Chrome. But your latest actions are disappointing.

The decision to update or not has always been and will be on the shoulders of the user.

I don't care about security policies, patches or bug fixes\Super new features.

With your actions, you only generate unnecessary negativity and lose the most loyal and old users. Today is the day when this browser will no longer be on my devices, you have achieved your goal - congratulations, you have won.

Firefox auto updated when I opened it today. Then when it opened, all that was on the screen was the menu (file edit view history bookmarks tools help), the "search or enter address" box, and in the upper right hand corner the words "private browsing" with the purple circle and eye eyeglasses icon. That's all. I have tried looking at my profile. It seems to still be there. This seems to be a problem with the Firefox software itself. I have re-downloaded the software three times, the last time I uninstalled Firefox from my laptop and totally reinstalled. Every time I get the same results. This almost blank screen. Let me be clear. There is no purple background, there is no Firefox icon, there are no tabs, there is no customized menu bar, there is no search box in the middle of the screen. I'm working on a Windows 10 laptop 64 bit. Please don't tell me to upgrade the Windows 11, the laptop won't take Windows 11. I get the same window whether I open the regular fire fox or the private browsing Firefox.

Hi there, Im on a windows 10(ish) and yesterday got this problem after the auto update to firefox 133.0.3 - Update is not working. error window says platform version 133.0.3 is not compatible with minVersion >= 133.0... how can I fix this?

I've seen that there was a similar issue back in October with a previous version. Tried to follow instructions and reinstaled firefox from mozilla. But the problem is still there. Restarted after reinstalling and still getting the same error message. ((( Please help )))

After a recent update to Firefox Nighty, the error "Procedure entry point IsWow64Process2 not found in DLL xul.dll" began to appear. I am using Windows 10 1507 LTSB.

The latest update caused an edit I made to my Profile's userChrome.css file to be nullified. Now there's huge bar where the tabs toolbar used to be, and apparently it's not the title bar, as when I activate the title bar in "Customize Toolbar," this huge gets replaced by the actual toolbar.

I've attached my css code below for inspection. It used to work perfectly, but after the last update (133.0) it's no longer working. What can I do to fix this and have it like I had it prior to the latest update (133.0)?

Hi, first time writing here so I don't know what to do or expect. I recently received a warning by Firefox that as of March 14, 2025 Firefox will end support for Windows 8 (8.1 and below too) and that the last version compatible with Windows 8 is Firefox 115ESR (up to which? Before in Settings Firefox wanted to update from 115.0.3 to 115.0.3ESR now it says 115.1ESR - is this still ok for Windows 8? Are all 115 versions ok or not? Please help because I'm not a computer person, at all, with far too many gaps). Also, what happens after March 14, 2025? Will I be able to keep using Firefox 115ESR version even if I won't be getting any more updates or not? Also, I have extensions (4 ad blockers+Ghostery+VideoDownload helper) which keep updating and the warning said that extensions may not work properly anymore - so I wonder if you know if these above mentioned will in fact be affected or not, because I don't know whether to update them after March 14, 2025 or not because I'm not sure how to go back to a previous version should they not work. Too, I would like to say that you suggest switching to a newer Windows ver. (10 or above) but not everyone really wants to for one reason or another. Personally I find myself fine with Win 8 so far and don't like Win 10 while Win 11 may be too much for my old computer and I cannot afford to buy another. Also I would not attempt to upgrade to Win 10 without help (considering that others more expert had difficulties making it work or reverting back to Win 8) help that I do not have, at all - that's why I'm here now, and I don't really understand how this works either, so... Anyhow, reading on that warning page that after March 14, 2025 you would reconsider your position regarding support for Win 8.1, 8 and below (and knowing also that Chrome and Edge have ended their support - effectively leaving users stranded or forcing them to upgrade to a Windows version unwillingly) I would like to plead with you NOT to follow their example and help us, your supporters, keep using Firefox (which you say is for the people) - like I said many of us have good reasons for keeping on using Win 8.1 or below, so won't you please, PLEASE help us keep Firefox as our browser so that we too may keep using Internet? I know technology goes forward and staying behind makes all more difficult but not all can afford the same things and since I have found that there are a few of us yet I am asking to PLEASE not abandon us as others have done (leaving us to manage the best we can) but consider our plight (I know it might be a challenge for the engineers and developers but surely you can find a solution at least to allow us to keep using Firefox). Recently my Browser was updated and a fairly broad sidebar apperared from nowhere

As an experienced user with Firefox i have always been happy with it - it is just the Browser

WHY DO YOU KEEP ADDING STUFF LIKE SIDEBAR? It is fairly broad with a settings flag at the bottom. I already knew where settings were in menu. Why do i need this broad panel having the effect of decreasing possible width to expand a page if needed.

To me, this is just playing about, copying other browsers that are garbage that's why we use Firefox isn't it. If you try find out how to turn off it becomes a ridiculous unnecessary exercise. If you want to add stuff like this it should be configurable like everything else and not just appear.

It is so irritating i absolutely hate stuff like this, people playing about not improving it. Making it worse. Why are half the users trying to do what i am? - get rid of it.

I have gone through themes and it was no use at all. I could not even see the sidebar to select it to turn it off? No doubt for some other ludicrously complex reason? I just want a simple page to read the internet. Please help!!!!!
