Mozilla Firefox 9.0.1 (and following), different from any other version of the Browser since 1.x, tends to forget loading the CSS-Styles when it displays arbitrary (X)HTML-pages.

While extensions like Firebug are still able to recognize what an element "should" look like, Firefox is not.

For the time being, restarting Firefox and just visiting the same URL once again, "helped"... No. This does *NOT* help, it is a major nuisance and a heavy bug.

Once in amnesia-mode, Firefox does not make a difference between the sites it has already visited (potentially cashed) and any new URL, that you visit. No style-definitions are honored, any more... until you restart the browser.

Have cleared cache and restarted in Safe Mode with all add-ons dissabled.

First discovered the problem on the following page, but have looked at various pages on Vimeo's site.

First, system info: I'm on Mac OS 10.5.8 I was using Firefox 3 until yesterday when I updated to 9. Had no apparent problems with bookmarks after the update but I had not closed the session; it was only after starting up this morning that all my bookmark folders are missing from the Bookmarks Menu.

I've been through all the "lost bookmarks" sections of Firefox - no answers there to my specific problem. Most of them focus on bookmarks being completely missing - but in my case it's only the Folders that are missing.

Here are at least some of the pages I've looked at and been through all the suggestions that were relevant: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Lost_bookmarks https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Lost%20Bookmarks http://kb.mozillazine.org/Lost_bookmarks#Bookmarks_missing_after_restarting https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/common-questions-after-upgrading-firefox-36 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/latest-firefox-issues

There was a momentary power-down yesterday, but the folders were still there when the power came back on, so that's not it.

There was one anomaly with the way my bookmarks WERE. That is, when I selected Bookmarks from the top navigation bar, go down the drop-down past Bookmarks Toolbar, instead of all my folders being displayed there, I'd have to go to Bookmarks Menu and then to a side panel of the Menu which showed a folder saying All Bookmarks and from there I'd have to go to another side panel that opened off that to access the list of all my folders and run down to select one. This strange functionality came after some previous update, never could fix that and got no help with it. So I just put up with having more mouse work to get to my sites.

This is a serious problem for me - I am in training on SEO, internet marketing, Wordpress, etc plus running another business. EVERYTHING I rely upon for my work was meticulously organized into those folders, which now seem to be gone.

Are there any seriously technical people in Firefox/Mozilla who can go deeper than the stuff suggested on their websites?

Hey, recently my firefox had a strange problem, when i click Help and "About Firefox" to see if i need to Apply Updates i always see the "Apply Update" button, naturally i clicked it, Firefox resets but the button remains when i check again instead of saying "Firefox is up to date", when i check the Firefox website it says my version is up to date, i tried uninstalling firefox and reinstalling it again, i tried installing firefox while already having it installed, and the problem remains, however if i run firefox as the administrator it says its up to date, is this a update problem or am i just being overly paranoid?

I can no longer log into Gmail, Facebook, Amazon, etc... using Firefox. I get the following error "accounts.google.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided. (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)". It works with IE but not Firefox. This just started a few days ago - prior to that I was able to log into those https sites without issue. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I have been using Firefox in XP & in Ubuntu for many years. I have over 3000 bookmarks in a lot of folders, so this is not new to me. I just installed Ubuntu 11.10 & found Firefox 9.0.1 When I try to add a new bookmark, at the second star-click, the Edit-Bookmark window opens OK, but when I try to select a folder from the drop-down list, then the window is truncated at bottom & at right side. Clicking on a target folder highlights it OK but I can not see any button for confirming, so nothing is saved to right folder. All attempts end up in unsorted bookmarks. Screenshot below. I'm running Firefox v9.0.1 under Win7 Home Premium 64 bit, with a dual core Intel T4400 (Core 2) CPU running at 2.2GHz, with 3GB of RAM.

This is a new (mis)behavior for FireFox. Problem appears as periodic, temporary freezing of the FireFox UI. During these times (lasting up to 30 seconds), FireFox will not display new content, will not respond to mouseclicks, will not render typed text. These freezes can affect performance systemwide, degrading the performance of other applications, even with Firefox minimized. Originally, I thought it was due to the MS Outlook webmail application...but it isn't. The same problem occurs in Firefox sessions that have never loaded an Outlook webmail page.

I composited some screenshots of CPU usage and posted the result here. I'd post a PDF if I knew a site that would permit (more or less) anonymous posters to upload one.

That page is composed from images taken from Mark Russinovich's Process Explorer utility to show system resource usage. There is no I/O usage that corresponds to the CPU use. Firefox is definitely the offending application. Every 60 seconds, Firefox usage spikes in one CPU core, to over 90%. Sometimes Firefox usage manages to spill into the second core as well (I don't know how it manages to do that).

ProcesExplorer's per-thread info (bottom of the image) demonstrates that this excessive CPU usage isn't happening in a plugin. It's coming form Firefox, proper.

As you can see in the ProcessExplorer treeview, I'm running the PortableApps installation of FireFox. But I don't think that affects the excessive CPU usage. After all, it never used to do this. And now, after the upgrade to v9.0.1, it does. Also, a standard install of Firefox on this same computer (v8.0.1) does NOT exhibit the excessive-CPU use behavior.

I'd appreciate any help you can offer to get Firefox's CPU usage to calm back down again. I several users who have gone over to Chrome because of this bug.

In the right pane of Google News, line spacing is too close so that text is vertically overlapping. The rest of the page is OK. Neither IE nor Chrome cause this, so there must be some incompatibility with Firefox and Google News. I've tried all sorts of font size and zoom settings; sone of them made any difference.
