The solution below no longer works. My current version of Firefox is 64.0.2

When did this problem start for you?

On Mac, Firefox 56 ratcheted up the security sandbox, limiting which files pages can use on your system. This apparently prevents Firefox from using font files in a "suitcase" or "Adobe Type 1" format. The developers are aware of this and some fixes were made in Firefox 57, but they might have missed some font types or unexpected font file locations.

To see whether this is the problem, and as a temporary workaround, you can reduce the sandbox security level back to what it was in Firefox 52-55 as follows:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste sand and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the security.sandbox.content.level preference and change the value from 3 to 1 and click OK

That change won't take effect until the next time you quit and restart Firefox

Firefox updated itself to version 64, and now instead of shift+enter or ctrl+shift+enter causing it to navigate to the address bar contents surrounded with www. and either .net or .org, both combinations open a new window which then navigates to whatever was already there with nothing added on. That is - if I put "test" into the address bar and hit shift+enter, I no longer navigate to "www.test.net," but instead get a new additional FF window that immediately searches my search provider for "test." Was this functionality broken in this version, or is there just some new option I need to change to get that behavior back?

Hi! Still STRUGGLING w/ FF (Vs. 64.0x) ... Each (UNwanted) update makes it worse so I want to DISABLE updates; or at least have the choice of whether or not I want to install them. I can AXS prefs.js but there are no text strings similar (exactly like) the examples online, here, etc....

I have: 'user_pref("app.update.enabled", false); ' which is already set to false so I’m not sure why I still get these updates?. PLEASE ADVISE. Thank you Signed a VERY disappointed Mozilla faithful.

HERE ARE THE DIRECTIVES FROM MY PREFS.JS (ALL RELATING TO "UPDATE")

user_pref("app.update.disable_button.showUpdateHistory", false); user_pref("app.update.download.attempts", 0); user_pref("app.update.elevate.attempts", 0); user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.addon-background-update-timer", 10-digits); user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.background-update-timer", 10-digits); user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.blocklist-background-update-timer", 10-digits); user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.browser-cleanup-thumbnails", 10-digits); user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.experiments-update-timer", 10-digits); user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.recipe-client-addon-run", 10-digits); user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.search-engine-update-timer", 10-digits); user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.services-settings-poll-changes", 10-digits); user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.telemetry_modules_ping", 10-digits); user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.xpi-signature-verification", 10-digits); user_pref("app.update.service.enabled", false); user_pref("app.update.service.errors", 1);

P.S. I've used Mozilla based browsers and email clients ever since I started using PCs. I realize one gets what one pays for but, like most other S/W these days (ESPECIALLY MS WINDOWS 10) sit aeems we are the alpha testers. (“Volunteers” – despite not wanting to!) which holds VERY true for FF and Tbird. So I guess we are giving back indirectly.

I am a Web developer. I have a localhost XAMPP installation which is not accessible through the Internet. I use the self-signed certificate supplied with XAMPP to enable SSL development. Let me repeat myself — I am doing my development on my own localhost with no access over the internet for my development server. This is my own machine, completely and entirely owned by me. Every time Firefox does an update, it finds a new way to tell me that it has complete control over the machine that it allows me to use only on its own terms. It does everything it can to ensure that I have no control over it.

In light of this, several years ago, I completely uninstalled Firefox, only too happy to consign it to the evil waste heap it so richly deserves. Like a complete idiot I decided to reinstall it about six months ago. Since then, I've spent weeks trying to make it work. Just when I get it somehow to work, it begins to completely bomb again. This last iteration, just one in a long series of iterations, I have spent two complete, entire, and utterly wasted DAYS trying to find a resolution to no avail. That's two days, well over 16 hours, of completely wasted time when I could have been earning money. (When is Firefox going to pay me for what that cost? Where and how do I submit my bill?) It still does not work continuing to give a Your connection is not secure. Error code: MOZILLA_PKIX_ERROR_SELF_SIGNED_CERT error and no alternatives for a workaround. It should be noted that, at no point, does Firefox give me the "Add Exception" button that it formerly gave. (I guess they had to remove that workaround because it prevented Firefox from having absolute control over my machine.

During those two, long, unproductive days, I tried every supposed resolution I could find via Google, including numerous changes to about:config. None of them worked.

The machine that my localhost is installed on is a Windos 10 Pro machine running Apache 2.4. I am using Firefox v.63 with the Flash plugin (not used in web development, of course). My anti-malware is Malwarebytes. When Firefox, the greatest malware of all times, decided to take control of my machine and block my web development, I completely turned off Malwarebytes to ensure that it wasn't the primary culprit. (It had never been at the root of the problem in the past. Malwarebytes makes it easy to add exceptions for an IP address such as 127.0.0.1, the IP universally used by localhosts. In any case, turning off Malwarebytes, of course, did nothing with regard to the issue created by Firefox. Naturally, Firefox would never implement such a simple resolution because, after all, they have to have complete control over my machine.)

My question is: Is there any way to permanently, totally, completely, and irrevocably prevent Firefox from blockading me from doing web development, allowing me to access with ease, localhost web sites, created in the Apache virtual host (httpd-vhost.conf) configuration file on IP 127.0.0.1 and established in the Windows hosts file (/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hosts)? Or is the only resolution to completely uninstall/trash Firefox from my system and never look back?

Needless to say, I am frustrated beyond belief.

I need the rounded tabs as I keep multiple tabs open and need the space in between to be able to move my windows around. It also provided space across the top of the tabs to be able to also move the windows. Plus I hate the squared off sharp tabs. The exact tabs I'm looking for were the default tabs that you had on version 56.0.2.

Started yesterday, I even uninstalled Firefox, and reinstalled it. But I tried to get on YouTube and right away it went to that page. Is there a way to Delete the site, as I subscribed to it, thinking it would stop cycling and open up. Before I Deleted Firefox, I signed in to see some videos, and after I did this started happening. Now, as soon as I click on YouTube the page opens up and you see the progression bar moving, but at half way it stops, and restarts. None of the tabs work when I click on them. Tabs, like Home, About and things like that. I had no problems before that. Thanks for any Help. NH.

Well, it seems like i have 2 options, and they're both bad.

1. Use the "windows ink" option, that lets me scroll flawlessly by simply touch and drag anywhere on the page, but that option somehow prevents me from doing other crucial actions like click and drag on text to copy it, and is incompatible with gesture add-ons.

2. Don't use the "windows ink" option, that lets me operate firefox almost flawlessly, but i have no reasonable way to scroll pages. (using scrollbars in 2018 is of course laughable, and using "middle click" + drag on a pen is very uncomfortable)

I watched a video on Youtube and than looked through the comment section to read the comments. The YouTube channel user had a comment with a link to his personal website. I clicked the link and it immediately took me to a website that looked like a Firefox website. It said my firefox browser was out of date and asked me to download a file. I wasn't thinking and I downloaded the file and gave it permission to run. I immediately realized what I had done and I ran task manager and killed the running process. The file name was Firefox_72.6.js. The file was located at: https://dl. dropboxusercontent .com/ s/4xs37admbmtchrl/Firefox_72.6.js?dl=1

I haven't experienced anything bad on my computer because of this, but I don't think mozilla would have me download an update from dropboxusercontent .com. I did a search on Google for that filename, but I didn't find anything, and I wasn't able to find anything about it being a malicious file. Does anyone have any information or advice they can give me. I'm using Windows 7 and I turned on Security Essentials and downloaded the latest virus definitions and I'm doing a full system scan.

I know this was asked before, but I just can't turn off ad blocking on firefox. I don't want to block ads on YouTube and some websites won't let me access them.

I've read same copy pasted "solution" everywhere. Yes, my content blocking is completely disabled. I don't have a little shield on the left of my address bar. I swept trough settings multiple times and everything looks disabled, when I click on "i" symbol while on YouTube for example it says that it is not blocking anything. Every other browser works normally and displays ads when adblock is turned off. I recently switched to Firefox from Chrome and it's awesome browser, but this keeps me from using it normally.

I have Windscribe VPN extension, but this problem was there before this extension and it's not turned on.

Hello - not sure if this is only my computer or what... Firefox: 64.0.2 (64 bit) Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.17763.292]

I have disabled ALL add-ons, turned off tracking blocking, allowed third-party cookies, etc.

When I go to www.officedepot.com, and click on the Weekly Ad link at the top and try to click on a product, any other browser will take me to the product. This works in Chrome, Edge, IE, Opera... but not in Firefox. This is kind of annoying and I don't understand why it's doing that.
