For ages my FF has saved and auto-installed usernames and passwords. I do change my passwords from time to time and they got updated without a problem.

However, this last few weeks, though I get asked if I want to update when I changed a password, and I click yes, it doesn't and the old passwords remain in the list.

I've checked everything I can see to check according to your other advice and all seems in order.

Any suggestions? It's getting really irritating!

Right to the point: How to stop sites like yahoo from hijacking your searches?

Now before the flames start - I've checked many sites and non of them show how to STOP yahoo(and others) from hijacking, only how to FIX it. Fixing is easy. That is two completely different issues. Stopping is what I am interested in.

With that said, lets ask it differently this time, why does mozilla allow other sites to arbitrarily, at a whim, allow a website make changes to someones browser? If someone sets their browser to a specific search engine, mozilla should not allow it to be changed by an outside source, other than the owner (the user in this case), at BEST maybe a warning system from fox itself asking for the change.

This would beg the question, how many other security issues are working in the background that are not intrusive (key loggers, data mining etc..) that are "allowed" to manipulate fox without the users knowing? How can one setup / turn on some alert features that maybe says:

"Your current search engine [search engine] is being changed, are you sure?" Now users are less likely about loosing their search engine without warning.

Since the v49.0.1 update my logins have disappeared. As such I have not been able to login to the support site.

I tried to obtain my password but the verification email did not arrive. I have spent all morning trying to find this password but still no verification email. Hence I have set up another login for support, which is becoming very confusing.

I wish too know the location of where the login files should be. I have old copies of key3.db and logins.json but I do not know where to copy them to in order to reinstate the the logins.

Although I want to leave history, and other tracking features active, there are times when I would like to use the Private Browsing mode. In windows there is a shortcut menu to start Firefox in Private Browsing mode. Since I cannot locate such a similar shortcut in my current Ubuntu Mate Environment, I would like to create a launcher item to start directly in Private Browsing mode without having to open a regular window in the first place.

I am guessing it should be a simple matter of finding the appropriate command line switch to start Firefox in such a mode.

I tried to refresh firefox to fix this problem...this message has appeared in the past but was fixed by simply refreshing the page. This is the message I'm seeing: If you're seeing this message, it means we're having trouble loading external resources for Khan Academy.

If you're behind a web filter, please make sure that the domains *.kastatic.org and *.kasandbox.org are unblocked.

Where are the web filters at, how do I unblock the domain if this is truly the issue? Any feed back is very mych appreciated, Thank you.

The title says it all. I have the problem, it seems to go away, then it comes up again, and again, and again, and now it's here and seems to be here to stay. I have experienced this with generations of Macs and operating systems. I am currently running a very recent OS and the most recent Firefox. And, yes, I tried the about:config thing. It didn't work either. My preferences for this functionality were enabled. This cannot be rocket science people. I wish that you would just fix it, permanently. I am tired of transferring to Safari just to paste a block of text or a hyperlink into a Yahoo email! Thanks. I am still a supporter, and have been since 1996, in the days of Mac Mozaic! Richard S.

There doesn't appear to be any way to enable this app. It works fine in Google CHROME! I use this app. all the time and this causes me a great deal of inconvenience. I've been using this app for many, many months. I haven't updated Firefox recently so why has this happened. I've tried everything here, gone to the "about:config" page, "YouTube HTML5" page, changed the settings reverted Firefox to its stock form, updated my computer drivers, make sure that Firefox is up to date, and yes, looked online for a solution. Firefox will still not play videos on YouTube in 60fps. When I tired the whole, "about:config" fix the first time it worked but after that one occurrence it stopped playing at 60fps. I looked at Edge and at Chrome and both play at that frame rate with ease, I'd hate to jump ship but if a browser as established as Firefox can't do something as simple as that, I may very well have to.
