I have a DigiCert Code signed .jar file that doesn't work in V53 but does work in IE 11& V52. Firefox ESR. Firefox is shorting the location of the includes path by ones level for the .jar with a 404 error under Inspect Element->Network. This appears to be fault in the browser and needs fixing. It also somewhat weird that the .jar file is being shown as an html file and not a script. Something is not right in the V53 version as the identical code and certificate store runs under Internet Explorer and also in Firefox V52 ESR. The issue is both on Windows 7 and Windows 10 machines

Without a correction, I have customers that prefer to use Firefox but this fault is making it impossible for me to use V53.

This issue actually started when I *lost* all my add-ons (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1290457) after updating to FF 47 ... I then downgraded back to FF 46. Shortly after that, my HD failed (and the issue stopped being an issue, obviously). However, Firefox runs slowly now. I know I have a few extensions, and it ran slowly before - but now, with a new SSD in the machine, I thought it would fly.

I tried to diagnose if it might be the connection -- but, I then found that to be unlikely (because I can't imagine a poor connection causing the CPU to spike) -- (see images). In general, it's always using a lot of CPU - but, 3-7 times per HOUR, it locks up (second image); in fact, it happened three times JUST while I was typing this bug report.

I was advised by a volunteer (I believe) to download the "Gecko Profiler extension" and do some analysis.

Here are three links to the data (I believe the third one happened *during* one of the "not responding" episodes:

https://cleopatra.io/#report=c00b64c17745769d47192a885151781dc9438e70 https://cleopatra.io/#report=c7abdc6b83d90f54dad1b04281f46b16bf44739d https://cleopatra.io/#report=43d908fec8b7bf87d2026b059b2f788b37d3308f

But, I have no idea how to read/interpret them.

Can someone please provide me with an idea of what's causing the hang-up? I really don't want to switch to Chrome (how can they insist that the tabs be *above* the address bar?) but, that's starting to look like my only option (which is a shame, since I've used this family of browser since Netscape, years and years ago .....)

Thanks!

And sometimes I have to disable one or the other entirely. What is the problem here? Why has Firefox's behavior changed from one version to another? Are you trying to force us to accept ads and tracking? Are you getting paid by creepy companies who want to know where everyone is going and what they are doing online? This seems to be an extension of what you all did with the cookies a few versions back. I tried downgrading to an older version of firefox but while this fixed the behavior I'm reporting here. it caused problems with add-ons. Specifically, the Pocket add-on. Which is very important to me. I'm feeling very misused by Firefox right now. This says I'm in Firevox 46.0 but the problem is with the most current version, whatever that is, for os x 10.8.

Is there an "about:config" option that will allow me to *completely* disable Firefox's blocking of Flash? Every site I use uses Flash, and since I have to clear all cookies and website data regularly, I *always* have to click on *TWO* annoying pop-up boxes where I have to say "Allow Flash". I need to disable this obscene annoyance, and just use Flash. I will risk the steganographic payloads, etc, etc. Is there some kind of option in the "about:config" parameters that can let me disable the auto-block of Flash? I need Flash to "just work". Recently one website that is critical to me, has started using an annoying spinning circle, which is Javascript+flash generated, and access to the website is blocked, if the stupid flash-driven spinning circle throbber is not allowed. There is too much gunk in Firefox now, but I need Flash to "just work" - no more nonsense. Do I have any other options to achieve this, other than downloading the source code, and building my own custom version of Firefox? I'd rather avoid that if possible (as I am doing something like this now, on another project - but for an emulator, not a browser.) Please only respond to this request if you can actually provide an answer. No lectures please - just answer, if possible. Thank-you.

I reset the password to my Sync account after my laptop was stolen, on a new laptop that I was setting up. Of course this deleted the data on the server (why?). This data is still on my mobile phone, however, and I'd like to save as much as I can (Android OS). Is there a way to save my sync data from my phone without manually recreating my previous Firefox experience?

I have Mozilla sync'd between my (old) laptop and my phone, and it was a lovely pairing. Old laptop got stolen earlier today, and in setting up my new laptop, I forgot my old password and ended up resetting the password to Firefox Sync on the new computer. I'll hit 'sync now' and nothing happens, no favorites, no tabs, no recent session, nothing.

This computer is running the latest version of mint, and my old computer was running mint 13 I believe. It hasn't been updated in ages but was happily puttering along while I blissfully neglected to update the software to a newer version which may overwork that relic.

Firefox strikes again... slow as hell all day not yahoo mail suddenly is insecure... only on firefox. Certificate runs through July. It is a firefox problem. please don't say it is yahoo while you work to fix it like last time... admit it. Who quit at Firefox? the last three months have been horrible... i am about to give up hope on your browser. and go to google - which I hate but maybe they can actually keep their browser running. Worst part it firefox never admits to issues.... always user of the other site. I somehow doubt firefox is so cutting edge that they are ahead of google or IE in sensing dangerous changes at major sites such as Yahoo... you can't even keep firefox working.....

When you fix your site so yahoo mail is usable? please don't insult me again by telling me to drop the level of protection.... so your error doesn't happen...

hi all,

I am in search of 'open an Ubuntu app (installed in the system) from an HTML file', and i got a solution from 'ask ubuntu' (refer: http://askubuntu.com/a/332389/447970). I tried it and its working good in Chromium and Chrome browsers, but not working in firefox, i am using firefox 46.0 (Edubuntu 14.04). The steps which i have done:

I. Create application launcher script

  1. a. mkdir -p bin
  2. b. gedit ~/bin/open_app.sh
  1. c. script:
  1. !/bin/bash

if [[ "$1" != "app://" ]]; then

   app=${1#app://}
   nohup "$app" &>/dev/null &

else

   nohup gnome-terminal &>/dev/null &

fi

  1. d. chmod +x ~/bin/open_app.sh

2. Create .desktop file for application launcher

sudo -H gedit /usr/share/applications/appurl.desktop

added the following content:

[Desktop Entry] Name=TerminalURL Exec=/home/name/bin/open_app.sh %u Type=Application NoDisplay=true Categories=System; MimeType=x-scheme-handler/app;

III. Refresh mime types database

sudo update-desktop-database

IV. Then created a html file with tagging like:

Open Gimp: <a title="Open" href="app://gimp">Gimp - 2.8</a>

thats all.

If I open this html file in firefox and click on the hyper-link nothing happening.

What is the problem, is there any changes to make in Firefox browser?

Pls help - Jay

I have over 100 users using Firefox to access their email through OWA 2013. I initially installed Version 46.0.1, and everything worked perfectly. Recently I started having users complain that they were no longer able to Paste Screenshots directly into their email messages with Firefox. This always worked perfectly before with Firefox and it still works with Google Chrome. The steps users take are to logon to their OWA email account using Firefox, press the PrtScn button to copy their screen to the clipboard, open a new message (or reply to or forward an existing message), and then right click inside the message body and paste. They could also do a CTRL V and this would also paste the image into their message. At first I tried an uninstall and reinstall of Firefox and this worked for a while. They would have issues again the next time they logged onto their computer. Their seems to be something different between Version 46.0.1 and 50.0.1 because pasting a screenshot into a new message works in Version 46.0.1 and it does not work in 50.0.1. Please help...

OK - I have searched and Googled.

This happens with FF 46 32 bit, 64 bit, portable, on Win 7 32 bit, 64 bit and windows 10. It happen in safe mode. It has all plugins up to date. I t has remove all but needed and non removable add ins - such as Flash, Acrobat Reader, etc. It happens on computers with plenty of RAM (16 GB). Oddly enough, it happens worse with safe mode and plugin container is run-a-way. With normal mode, it appears that plugin container is under control and Firefox itself runs amuck.

So - totally repeatable. Page down in Firefox with one or 50 tabs open - no matter. It will crash. Goes black, or stops responding. Until Firefox closes. NEVER happens with Edge for example.

I have to think it is a Firefox memory leak, but even using Firemin does not help much if at all.

What can be done? I have done my homework!

Problem signature:

Hello Mozilla support team,

I am facing the following issue, and I am not able to solve it.

My OS is Debian Jessie. I have installed firefox 46.0, Java(TM) Plug-in 11.92.2 (enabled) and Shockwave Flash 11.2 r202 (enabled). Everything is updated. when I open a website that runs java, I get the message "The Java Plugin has crashed. Reload the page to try again". I have disabled "Use hardware acceleration when available". I have added "dom.ipc.plugins.java.enabled" with value on false. However, it hasn't worked.

I have also tried with firefox 47.0, and I get the same behavior

I will appreciate any help you could provide me.

Regards

I've read many other posts on this issue, don't seem to find a solution. So I have to ask. . I'm wanting a different default zoom level other than 100%. I understand Websites create their websites to generic 100%. I have UnTicked "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above",... but this still is not enough to "Have it my way". I have scoured "about:config" for ZOOM and changed many settings to (for say) 115% and this includes removing the 100% from the 3 lists of zoom levels... but oddly it still defaults to 100%. LASTLY: I am trying to do my best to keep ADD-ONS to a minimum, requiring the installation of yet another ADD-ON seems counterproductive. . It seems it be easier to have an eye transplant than getting a simple default zoom of my choice. .

Last week I updated my FF with the latest version #48. I chose NORMAL install and it automatically installed an email toolbar. I could not stop the upgrade so I let it go and opened the browser when it was complete. After opening the browser I may as well look at the toolbar, didn't like it, WAY-way to much screen space taken up. I uninstalled that email toolbar from Windows ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS. Uninstall complete I then opened a FF browser and found the BOOKMARK bar blank also the TOOLS bar was now almost empty. GRRRrrr, all that work to get it my way gone. I re-installed my last known working version of FF 46.0b11. Luckily BOOKMARKS and TOOLS were back. . OK, that said... Now an irritating constant pop-up request to upgrade to ver-48 has become, ... irritating, I'm asking how to stop it. I must wait until FF has fixed this issue before upgrading to the next latest version. . FYI to Mozilla: I did not want the email toolbar. I do not want any toolbar, toolbars irritatingly slow my CPU. PAALEASE have TICK BOXES during the initial install so WE KNOW what's going on before it goes on. fm

I have cleared the Firefox cache and cookies, but the problem still happens.
