Greetings fellow organisms and earthlings

I have been having trouble lately with Firefox because it keeps crashing randomly and a warning box usually pops up saying "Warning! Unresponsive script. The script is busy"....blah blah blah etc. And it says it is the Shockwave FlashPlayer. I have tried a few things to fix this problem, too such as typing about:config in the web address bar up at the top, finding dom.max_script_run_time and changing the integer (number) to 20 instead of 10, I've tried disabling FlashPlayer safe mode, and I've also tried removing cookies and cache. None of these things seemed to help. Although changing the dom.max_script_run_time integer to 20 did prevent the "unresponsive script" warning from popping up, Firefox still acted the same way as if I didn't do anything. Someone please help me. I have had this problem for about 2 weeks now and it is starting to drive me crazy. It's hard to perform anything when FireFox keeps crashing every 10 seconds or so. All I ask is someone just give me a helpful answer to solve this problem, because I know I am definitely not the only one with this problem. I don't care how hard it is for me to fix it, just as long as I can. I know Mozilla isn't perfect, because no one is, but if teamwork is played out, solutions can be acquired. Thanks for all the help anyways. I'll try to stay updated to this problem. Thanks!

I have a Firefox user who yesterday reported that all of a sudden his FF was running like molasses. Not just navigating to sites, but clicking from one field to another, entering data, etc. The only add-ons he has are plug-ins, and all of them are "never activate" except for Flash Player and Acrobat (Reader) DC. When I ran FF in Safe Mode (add-ons disabled), it worked like normal.

Here's what my question really is. I don't want to just disable/"never activate" these plug-ins, I want to rip them out of Firefox forever. There are some in there that look pointless, the user never installed them. At this point all I care about is that his base FF experience is smooth.

My Google-fu so far has been weak, and so far all it looks like is that this process would be painful, time-consuming, and involve code which looks like it's over my head. Can anyone recommend anything to make this less painful?

Hi,

I am basically looking for an addon which will spell check every word on the page. I have found that Mozilla's does not catch mistakes when you are typing words into certain input boxes (like this one). If there is another solution, I am happy to have that, instead of an addon as well ;)

Thanks Niels

Hello, so basically, throughout the day, firefox will crash. Sometimes it will just straight up crash itself and leave nothing but the, "We're sorry, firefox has crashed" screen. I do send off the crash report most of the time, but it's gotten to the point where I've gotten really tired of it, and will search for help. Most of the time, the "Plugin Container for Firefox" will crash with it.

I have tried during hardware acceleration off. It does not help with the crashing, and seems to only expedite how fast firefox crashes from that issue.

I get a black screen on every website where Flash player needs to run. Everything was working fine until I updated to Flash 18.****. I have tried all suggestions from various help sites including Mozilla, and still have this problem. Everything works fine with the new Flash Player in IE, just not Firefox. Disabled all protection software including firewall, still nothing. Re-Installed current Firefox and current Flash Player, still nothing. Ran various malware and antivirus software, no problems detected. I guess I'm stuck using IE until the problem is resolved or I can get some help. I just hate using IE or Chrome. Perhaps I'll give some of the other browsers like Avant or Opera a try until I can get this resolved.

In advanced settings, general panel, I am trying to turn off hardware acceleration, but the panel is totally unresponsive--greyed out, I guess is one way to express it. My objective is to stop my Silverlight plugin from going unresponsive all the time. I'm trying to follow the steps outlined but find the Firefox pages/panels etc. unresponsive.
