I have been unable to login to Pinterest for a number of weeks and unfortunately am unable to determine what changed since the last successful login. Upon entering credentials into the login form and hitting submit, the page reloads to the main index page. The account itself works with other browsers so it is a Firefox issue. All add-ons have been disabled and the entire process as described in "Fix login issues on websites that require a username and password" has been performed to no avail.

(Using Firefox 32.0.2)

My start-up times are very slow; several minutes. I researched Mozilla, and saw that "reset" is the recommended solution.

I note that Bookmarks will be saved during the re-set process, but is the same true for ReminderFox?

I dare not risk losing all those Reminders and To Dos!

Open Windows Explorer and right-click various file types. You'll see there's a submenu called "Open with" that allows you to choose a particular application. Firefox is listed for numerous file types it can't actually handle, like RAR and MKV.

Does anyone know why? I've never attempted to open those file types with Firefox, though I did download such files with Firefox. I can't find any bug reports about this, and the above seems like too little information to file a report.

I'm not the only one with this issue:

In any given window (tab?) I used to be able to click on the upper right corner X and exit just that window. Now apparently that closes ALL open windows (tabs?) -- they are all linked together. How can I set up so that upper right corner X closes only window I'm in. Now I get a warning and have to click on the individual tab's X -- waste of clicks. Why did this change? Nuisance.

Hi. For a while now I've seen extra Firefox processes randomly appear in Windows Task Manager. These extra processes persist after closing the browser while the main Firefox process actually closes. When trying to open Firefox again, these extra processes stay as they are, using ~4MB RAM and hardly seeming to do anything else whilst another process launches that the browser appears to run from.

The extra processes can range in number depending on when i notice them. They appear one by one, not all at once.

Opening the file location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe so it is indeed Firefox.

The browser is left open 24/7 with multiple windows and tabs open.

Malware scan has been run with both the latest versions of Malwarebytes and Norton Anti Virus.

The Windows 7 installation is only a few days old, however before the latest install i had observed this issue. I HAD copied my profile over from the old installation however when i noticed the issue again, i completely deleted all traces of Firefox from my system including profiles and folders (with the exception of the password files), did a fresh install of Firefox 32.0.1, configured Firefox settings, re-installed 3 extensions (Classic Theme Restorer, Hide Tab Bar With One Tab 1.4, Throbber Restored 1.2) and carried on using Firefox with Windows Task Manager open to observe if and when the extra processes appeared.

I have done a lot of browsing on various sites, watched youtube (flash plugin) videos and opened PDFs in the browser which are typical of my usage but i noticed an extra process appear when i opened a new window and did a Wikipedia search from the search bar so I do not think it is any specific action i perform in use.

Couple of pictures here, although I doubt they would be much use. http://i.imgur.com/n1JxSLw.png - Windows Task Manager (only showing one extra there but more tend to spawn) http://i.imgur.com/heodDcP.png - Processexplorer - All the items listed also appear in the normal Firefox process.

Any ideas on how to stop these extra processes appearing? (whilst writing this the extra process has grown to use 6MB RAM) Thanks

Firefox updated Keep checking on problems for script error issues and plugins hanging up games and have tried some of those answers. Using Vista. I refresh and reload and reload, sometimes that works, but ughhhhh! Sometimes it comes up with script error and sometimes it comes up with upgrade flash, shockwave and now it is saying loading game upgrade flash text and game doesn't load even when refreshing. Happens in Puzzle Charms and candy Crush Saga. I did a remove all cookies this last time now my facebook timeline doesn't show. I cleared the web content cache. I have done what it says to do in Add-on, plugins under Tools. Always activate Java and shockwave. I had saved a photo of some of these error messages but there is not place to add them here.

Firefox on mac osx with automatic updates for OS and Firefox up to date for over a year recently started producing failed downloads (probably between 9-13 and 9-14, around the time of the last Firefox update). What has been tried to fix this: everthing from the Mozilla help pages “What to do if you can't download or save files” asserted to be based on information from “Unable to save or download files (mozillaZine KB)” with the exception of dealing with the "plist" file since that could not be found in this OS installation. If anything has changed through these efforts, it has been to cause the failure to be more severe. Before attempting any fixes, the downloads usually produced a zero-byte file of the expected name and an apparently full-length download file with the expected name and a ".part" extension (or an abbreviated download file with a jumbled alphanumeric name and ".part" extension). After all the fixes were attempted, with the additional trial of patching the profile from TimeMachine back-ups well before the initiation of the problems, and then a final effort of a complete Firefox re-install (freshly downloaded via the separate account on the computer then Firefox removed prior to a fresh install), downloads now fail for that one problem account producing only the zero-byte file of the expected name and no ".part" files yet seen again. Created new profiles in Firefox under the same computer account inherit the same download problems (tried twice).

FYI: in addition to the troubleshooting information below, the computer account with the Firefox problems reports another four plug-ins (Blue Jeans, RBlue Jeans and "install" for both). As these do not show up on this computer account where the Firefox browser has no download issues, this may matter. But since the download issues were independent of Safe Mode operation for Firefox, presumably the plug-in differences would not matter.

Hi there! Does anyone know if there's any way I can download a file hosted on a link (e.g., www.ff.org/test.pdf ) without going to config and changing my preferences? I want FF to keep opening media (like pdf and mp3) on the tab when I clik on it, as a general rule. But sometimes I want to be able to download a file, and I can't right click it because all I have is the adress someone gave me. If I type that adress and hit enter, FF will open the file in a tab.

Is there any command I can pass, say, on the adress bar that will make me download the file instead of opening it in a FF tab (like download:www.ff.org/test.pdf)? Will I always have to change my preferences to be able to download a file instead of opening it when I type the link on the adress bar?

Thanks!

Is there any way to make hitting the back button not reload pages? It's become a bit of annoyance to me within the past few days because it sorta messed with my flow.

For example, let's say I'm looking at a phpBB forum. There's a unread posts button next to each topic. I click on the one next to a topic, this topic has 3 pages. The last post I read was halfway down the first page, it takes me to it (and adds "&view=unread#unread" to the URL). I finish reading the page, and move on to page 2. Partway down page two, I decide to go back to page 1 to re-read something that got quoted, and click the back button. But because of what seems like a recent change, Firefox attempts to reload the page instead of its old functionality... and thanks to the unread bit at the end of the URL, phpBB serves up page *3*. Now instead of going back, I've gone forward.
