My company has a custom developed ticketing system and of course its developed for IE but none of the engineers like IE. We all use and want to continue using Firefox. One of the sections in the ticketing system has a spot for links to local files on a shared drive. I have created the link and it points to a word document. That hyperlink works fine in IE but it does nothing when clicked in Firefox.

Of course the dev team is giving me the age old line ".NET doesn't play nice with Firefox... developed for IE.... blah blah use IE."

Surely creating a link to a local file like excel or word or even a directory is simple idea and should be accomplished somehow with FireFox right? Can anyone shed some light on this and give a suggestion how to make this work?

For example: N:\KNOWLEDGE BASE\Cisco Price List\2012\pricelistaugust2012.xlsx i am trying to share with a hyperlink like:

Looking for any suggestions on how to make this work. Thank you so much!!

My Firefox on a windows 7 HP laptop updated today (June 25th) and the zoom adjusted, changing the font size, as well as icons and zoomed in on websites. I noticed in the list of changes for the program it says "improved rendering on high-res displays" is this the problem and is there anyway I can disable this? I was quite happy with the resolution before, and find this tacky and annoying...

When I downloaded Firefox's last update Firefox 22, Last night everything is now so zoomed in and big on this Firefox. Even the buttons seem bigger. I wanted to know how can I reset everything so it will look like the previous update of Firefox ?

Everyweb page I go to I have to zoom out twice just to get it back to its normal size now.

Is there also away to just change the webpage zoom and leave the buttons there current size. My brother likes how big the buttons on firefox it self is but not how far it's zoomed in on web pages.

When I try to open attachments with .xlsx file extensions, Firefox identifies as a Firefox HTML document and the "open file" window does not show Excel as an option - when I try to Browse to Excel the window does not open to "my programs" where I might be able be able to designate the correct association. (it shows "Program Data" and "Program files" but these don't work to make the association. The file will save ok but, I want to be able to open them as I can easily do in IE. Is the only solution to give up on Firefox and go back to IE?

I've upgraded to Windows 8 and FF 22, unfortunately there's no profile manager and no way that I can find to import any old preferences. The info in the Support section seems hopelessly out of date.

And a Google search brings up nothing helpful.

Does anybody know if there is a way to import your old FF settings?

Thanks

EVERY time I try to access my e-mail through Firefox I instantly get this message: "Your session has expired. Please log in again". My provider is Time/Warner, and my internet access is working fine. Firefox is also working well except for this e-mail issue; I can access my stored bookmarks, etc., no problem. I can even access my Time Warner e-mail through another browser (Safari), so I know there is currently nothing wrong with the Time/Warner site's built-in e-mail engine. I have already tried reinstalling Firefox, including several different versions, to no avail. I've also tried "resetting" per your troubleshooting instructions, and restarting in Safe Mode. No success. This issue began suddenly a couple days ago—no warning. To my knowledge I have received no viruses or malware in recent months. Tech Support at Time/Warner tells me other customers are having this same problem lately. Suggestions? Thanks, Jeff
