I'm reposting part of another thread that was closed because no one is actually listening to the people that are posting the problem.

Quote:

I had the same problem, after I installed Yahoo Messenger. I asked not to install the toolbar, but it was installed. Then I uninstalled it, I disabled it from addons, yet, the toolbar was there no matter what I did. I uninstalled Firefox, reinstalled, with the download from mozilla, the toolbar was still there. I did all that one has to do in order to uninstall a piece of software, without being "the tech guy". I do not have the same problem in Chrome or Internet Explorer. It was uninstalled from all other browsers when I removed the program from control panel. I can't see what I can do to get rid of it. I choose to just hide it for now, but it bugs me that I have a piece of software that behaves like a virus, doing stuff I don't want it to do. And for the record, I am not confused about the search for yahoo and toolbar for yahooo. Right clicking on the interface, allowed me to check or uncheck exactly that "yahoo toolbar".

/quote

This is exactly my problem as well.

In the other thread several people said 'disable it in your add-ons' Well as the poster above mentioned and I can confirm **it is not in the add-ons area**

Others said 'use the add/remove function in the control panel' and as the poster above mentioned and once again I can confirm **I did this and it no longer shows up under add/remove but the toolbar is still annoyingly there**

Yet others said 'you must have downloaded a special yahoo version of Firefox' No, we (or at least I) didn't. The toolbar was installed when I installed Yahoo messenger

-I can't believe a 'clean install' of Firefox is the answer to this problem--if so this is just ridiculous.

If there is no actual answer, I can accept that but I am frustrated that people are posting responses that very clearly are not the right answers because the people posting the problems were very clear about the issues.

Thanks for reading, please assist if you can.

I need help settling a professional debate that I am having at work regarding browser security. A colleague of mine is making the case that open source is less secure than closed source software. He says that Firefox is a good example of this and says that Internet Explorer is more stable, reliable and secure.

Although articles and opinions can be found supporting either side, he says that high quality/unbiased sources often credit IE as being better and uses these two as examples:

I thought, rather than looking up my own information, why not go to this support forum and get some feedback from a different point of view.

In Firefox, on my FaceBook page and yahoo mail, there are Browse to Save ads everywhere! They are driving me insane. I disabled all add-onos and plugins and the problem remains. I clicked on on the ad and went to browse to save's site where they say they tell you how to uninstall it, but there is no way to uninstall it because it doesn't show up in plugins or add-ons. Help!

First, this delta search site kept opening every time I opened a new tab. So I got rid of that, but then every time I opened a new tab, the page was blank. I followed the about:config directions which would help me get the "pinned tabs" page back, but every time I closed FF and reopened, the same issue would reoccur. Now, every time I open a new tab, it goes to my homepage. I Just want to know how to get the pinned tabs back permanently.

Somehow a plugin with the name of Ads by Supreme Savings plugin has gotten on my computer. It slows everything down and I do not want it. It does not show up on the list of plugin's so I can not disable it. I have gone through regedit to take out all references to Supreme. I even uninstalled Firefox and downloaded the newest version to no avail. I did leave my bookmarks, etc. - could that be why this plugin is still there? Has anyone else had this issue? Can/will anyone help? Thank you for trying. Craig

I allowed a security exception for a website I thought was a familiar one, but found out later it was not (one letter difference in the address-grrr). By going to tools, option, encryption, and view certificates, it allowed me to delete it under "servers", but will not allow me to do ANYTHING to it, not even view it, under authorities and others (it appears in both sections). Is this bad? Is there a way to get it off my computer??

Firefox 20 loads very slowly. sometimes taking several minutes. When it does open, it's often very slow to load sites. Sometimes it hangs for seconds to minutes and I get the spinning beach ball of death. I downloaded another copy of FF20 and installed it. Same thing. I cleared cache and cookies with only a little improvement. Suggestions? Mac OS 10.6.8

Thanks.
