Will FF10 be getting a new version to correct the "tiny website" problem?

After upgrading to FF10 from 3.6.26, all websites are rendered very small. (Win7, screen resolution 1920 x 1080, with appropriate OS font settings.) All applications except for the browser appear just fine.

It is necessary to manually zoom each web page to make it readable. Also, FF10 elements themselves appear very small. For example, the icons in the bookmarks toolbar are so tiny it's difficult to see them, and the close-tab button is so miniscule that very precise mouse positioning is essential to make it operate.

IE doesn't do this, nor did FF 3.6.26. IE seems to render a website in proportion to the available screen real estate, and FF 3.6.26 was perfect! Why not FF10?

Is FF10 just a browser for smaller screens then? Will there be an updated version that solves this problem?

How can I get what I used to or like my other computers for display when using FireFox? It has always worked just fine till I went to version 10 and something happened that I cannot duplicate on my desktop computers. Besides the tasks of getting all my goodies working like Billeo, the notebook is now so difficult to navigate in FireFox due to missing graphics and text. Example, I cannot easily use my gmail on it. I use chrome for most all my google accounts but occasionally I access my gmail there but it is so strange looking, I give up using it for that and other frequently visited sites with FireFox, , which has some tools I really like when it was working properly.

I updated Firefox last night, and now the location bar is not working. If I click on a full link after typing in part of it (e.g. fac brings up www.facebook.com) it doesn't connect; neither does hitting "enter" after typing in an address (with or without http://) connect me. The only way to connect to a site is to click my home button, or to click the "go" arrow at the end of the bar. This is incredibly annoying! What can I do about it?

i made the mistake of updating Firefox yesterday and with the ssl security fix find that i can longer connect to a web site at a remote data center that is protected by a fortigate appliance.

i know the correct answer is to get the appliance upgraded or replaced but in the meantime i am in desperate need of a workaround. it would be nice if there was an archive of old Firefox versions.

i have changed the config settings to allow renegotiation but i think the problem is more fundamental than that in that it doesn't appear that older versions of ssl are provided anymore.

When appending param elements via createFragment the setAttribute javascript function does not set the "value" attribute. It is necessary to set the nodetext to add the this value attribute to the param element.

Second when using the latter method the generated html sets the "value" to the innerHTML. The resulting HTML when view by "Inspect" looks like this.

<param id="myID">myValue</param>

Note: [the element close text </param> is correctly displayed using Inspect but when using File->SavePageAs the ending text is not saved correctly. I have reported this in another Moz. question in FF Help.]

function setparamAttrs(parmID, parmVal) {

var gData = document.createDocumentFragment();
 var newNode = document.createElement("param");
 var textStr = document.createTextNode(parmVal);
 newNode.appendChild(textStr);
 newNode.setAttribute("id", parmID);
 //newNode.setAttribute("value", parmVal); // this does not work
 //newNode.setAttribute("innerHTML", parmVal); //this does not work
 gData.appendChild(newNode);
 document.body.appendChild(gData);

}

I was, however, able to retrieve the "value" after it was appended using:

var val = document.getElementById("parm0").value);

getAttribute("value") does not work either.

Finally I added the param elements to my HTML as this; <param id="myID">myValue</param>. I then attempted to extract the value using document.getElementById("myID").innerHTML. No text was returned. When I examined the HTML document with Inspect my HTML param element was displayed as <param id="myID">myVal. The closing element text was missing the same as when I use SavePageAs that I previously reported.

I tried to follow Firefox instructions to download the plugin for Windows Media Player. The instructions say to save the file to my desktop when prompted to save. However, when prompted, after clicking "save", a blank pop-up window appears with the title of "downloads" at the top. Then a small item appears and disappears from the bottom of the screen which says the download was successful. There is no option to save to desktop.

The Windows Media Player plugin doesn't appear under Tools and Add-Ons, so I guess it never got installed. Explorer still uses it just fine. Anyone have a solution? Thanks.

I tried diligently to use Chrome for several months, because the consensus among reviewers seemed to be that Chrome was more secure.

But there were several things about Chrome that really rubbed me the wrong way.

- Tab groups. In Chrome you have to start a new instance of the browser to get similar functionality.

- Keyboard navigation of bookmarks. In Chrome, you simply can't do this. In Firefox, I can get to any bookmark quickly and completely by keyboard.

- Logmein support. Logmein behavior is glitchy under Chrome. Some things just don't work.

- Print control. Ctrl-P brings up Chrome's "enhanced" print dialog. But some functionality is difficult to control from there, so I had to train myself to use Ctrl-Shift-P to use the system print dialogs when I wanted to get certain things done (e.g. printing a selection of material to my PDF printer).

- Restore Previous Session. I found no Chrome equivalent of this Firefox History feature.

- LastPass login. With Chrome, LastPass would auto-logoff after some period of inactivity -- despite LastPass settings to the contrary. With Firefox, it stays logged in all day long.

And on top of that, I found out that Firefox had at least some security features that Chrome lacked (wish I could recall what they were!).

One other consideration: Since I'm still on Windows XP for the most part, Internet Explorer 9, which is supposed to be a very good browser, wasn't even on the table for me.
