I had posted my question yesterday and received a response from jscher2000. I sent a reply to the response by email a short while ago, but I wasn't sure it went through. Therefore, at the possible expense of having you receive the reply twice, I have recopied it here:

Thank you for trying to help me download Firefox onto my computer. As per your advice, I first tried shutting down and restarting my computer. That did not work. Then I went onto the link you sent me: https://www. mozilla,org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release . The installation began, but only got up to around 80 - 90%. It stopped at the point where it said Execute: "C:|Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\default-browser-agent.exe" register-task 308046B... (It looks like there might be some more letters and/or numbers after the "B", but I can't see what they are.) I waited a few more hours to see if the installation would continue, but it did not. I then went back to try downloading Firefox in the regular way. First I got a message, "Now installing. Firefox will be ready in just a few moments." Again, installation proceeded to around 80 - 90 %, and then I got a message, "Hmmm. For some reason, we could not install Firefox. Choose OK to start over." Starting over didn't help. I got the same message. Any further help or advice that you can give me would be greatly appreciated. drzee1946 email: drzee1946@gmail.com

I wish to install and use the Firefox browser on my old 64bit Windows 7 laptop.

I believe the last v115 will be the last Windows 7 compatible version of Firefox, if this is correct where can I find this or the correct version of Firefox to download and install on my Windows 7 laptop?

The Firefox website only seems to provide v119 now.

Thanks, Graham

I just bought a new laptop, and I can't figure out how to import my old bookmarks. I have them in an html file, but the import data option displays only the choice of importing from Edge (a horrible browser), not from file.

I can't even swear that I am seeing bookmarks. The bookmarks line at top is showing only the most recent (very old) searchs in Edge I also am not seeing the option to clear history on exit. What's wrong, and what can I do?

HI. I recently purchased a new laptop and have Windows 11 Home (64 bit) installed. I installed the latest version of Firefox (v117). I am attempting to copy the bookmarks from another laptop - same version of Windows and the same version of Firefox. 1. I exported the toolbar bookmarks from old laptop which created an HTML file - file type shows as

   Firefox HTML Document.

2. On the new laptop I went through the process, Manage bookmarks,

highlighted the Bookmarks Toolbar, selected Import bookmarks from HTML, selected the file I wanted
then 'OPENED' the file I wanted to use.

3. The process ended very quickly, file was not large. I clicked on the HOME icon and NO bookmarks

were displayed on the toolbar, no bookmarks in the Other Bookmarks either.

4. The only change was - all bookmarks from the old laptop were listed under 'Recent bookmarks' which

made no sense since I had not visited them on the new laptop.

5. I went through the process twice and I now see duplicate entries in the 'Recent bookmarks', no bookmarks.

So, what have I missed or does the export / import process simply not work? I have not tried the backup / restore process since this is the all or nothing approach and I may want to copy a few bookmarks in the future using the export / import process.

Does anyone have any ideas since I'm stopped at this point in time.

thanks B

Hello, For me, there is no substitute for browsing with Firefox. But for some time now I've been getting notices that I'm not using the current browser version, for example in my email program and the banking application. However, Firefox info in the menu says that I am using the current version and there are no updates available. Here is the Firefox version shown to me: 78.15.0esr (64-bit) I work with an iMac of the following version: iMac (21.5 inch, from 2010) - OS X El Capitan version 10.11.6 (15G22010); - Processor: 3.06GHz Intel Core i3; - Memory: 4GB 1333MHz DDR3; - Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 4670 256MB Maybe my computer is too old for the latest version, but why does Firefox Info show me that the browser is up to date and there are no updates? Thank you very much for a tip Uwe
