A couple weeks ago I started getting the "We've detected a problem with your cookie settings." error message for gmail after restarting my computer and opening firefox. I can fix the problem and get into gmail by clearing all gmail related cookies, but the same problem occurs next time I restart, which means logging back into all my accounts. How can I stop this from recurring? I have cookies enabled and there's nothing in my settings I can find blocking gmail cookies.

How to Enable 3rd party cookies for Kaltura Media Application in Firefox Nightly 94.0a1

I am unable to enable 3rd party session cookies, which are required for the Kaltura application, in D2L Brightspace for online education courses in Firefox Nightly 94.0a1.

I have tried Kaltura application specific, and my educational institution specific troubleshooting with no change. I have tried changing settings in Firefox Nightly's Privacy and Security Enhanced Tracking Protections and by Managing Exceptions in Cookies and Site Data with no changes.

On the webpage of my course material there is a message that reads: "It seems your browser is blocking 3rd party session cookies which are required for the Kaltura application. To resolve this issue, please update your settings to allow 3rd party cookies." under Course Tour Video

I have further troubleshot this issue by managing the same exceptions in Google Chrome where the content is working. I have retrieved the relevant content URLs from the Google Chrome browser Kaltura video and cookie info and used them in Firefox Nightly to allow all appropriate exceptions with no changes.

After all troubleshooting, I have took the step of clearing Cookies, Site Data, History and restarting Firefox Nightly with no changes on the course page and met with the same error message.

How can I resolve this, because I would like to use Firefox Nightly as my preferred browser for my course work?

When I go to google.com and do a search the results page has the "tools" button but it does not work. The "people also ask" categories are also broken (they will not expand), and, if I click the "images" filter button to view images associated with my search it either shows no images (or only a few images) and a bunch of blank boxes. I have found that if I hold the shift key and click the reload button everything is back and working properly until the next time I do a google.com search, then it is back to the same odd behavior. So, my assumption here is that either a cookie or some site data is corrupting the results page for my search. Running Firefox 92.0 (64-bit) on a Windows 7 Dell machine and everything was working fine until about two months ago. Also, Chrome does not show the same behavior. BTW. I have also done everything I have found that was recommended to fix Firefox issues with Google search. Run Firefox in private mode, run without plugins, changed themes, created new profile, I even completely uninstalled Firefox and did a clean install all with the same results. Any help is appreciated. It is almost got me ready to move back to Chrome.

When I used an old version of firefox(v42 as this is an application requirement) the session gets expired immediately after I login with my credentials when secure flag is set in my application(since I am accessing the site through http and not https).

When I inspected the developer console I can see that a new session is created every time. I believe this is the expected behavior since the cookie won't be valid in case of http requests. This doesn't happen in the case of modern versions of firefox. Why is this so? Is this because I am accessing the site on localhost?

I have the latest Firefox update, and noticed that if I delete one site's cookie, then the cookies for other sites, my logins, and site data just disappear when I go onto the site despite it still being in the data when I check Settings.

One example is if I delete Twitter's cookies and then go to Discord, I'm somehow logged out of Discord, and some other sites loose my settings despite the fact that they are still there in the data untouched.

I have tried adding these sites to the Exceptions list, but the same thing still happens. I am not in Private Browsing Mode (nor have I ever used it), and I don't have Firefox set to delete cookies/site data when closed.

This started happening sometime after I updated to 91.0.2. I'm not sure if the update broke something or there's some other issue going on.

Since recently (90+ versions) I've noticed that nightTab seemingly randomly resets itself to default settings which wasn't caused by browser wide cookies and data reset. After poking a bit, I've found a consistent way to reproduce this issue:

  1. Visit any site which stores cookies
  2. Clear data and cookies on that site
  3. Open new tab and have nighttab reset

Besides clearing out extension cookie, some websites also partially reset their settings, but not login information.

FF seems to keep forgetting what I call "legitimate" cookies. For example:

  • For websites I use daily without a login, like Accuweather, every few days I get their "Accept our cookies?" messages.
  • For sites that allow an on-going login, I need to re-login frequently. Not daily, but certain not months later.
  • I have a financial site that allows me to set only certain devices may be recognized. Today it said a device I use weekly or so is no longer recognized.

There is an old thread that may be relevant: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1309877

But several issues: That thread is closed, even though this bug is still going. Also it only covers Windows and I could use help with Windows & iOS versions.

Could "Tracking Protection" level come into play? I had it set to Standard but noticed recently it was Strict. I think Firefox changed that, not me, but I can't be 100% positive. Meanwhile I changed it back to Standard but so far the issue remains.

Thank you,

Joe

At each update of Firefox, which seem to come more frequently, the list of Exceptions Allowed for Cookies and Site Data is erased. I have to rebuild the list after each update. "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" is set to Yes. I use "Manage Exceptions" for the sites not to delete. These are set to "Allow", which I understand to be permanent. Preservation of this list works fine between Firefox updates. Other aspects of personalization seem to be fine: Bookmarks, History, Screen Preferences, Shortcuts, etc.

What am I missing?

Running Firefox 91.0.1 (64-bit) on a Win 10 Pro 20H2

Firefox removes all cookies when I shut it down; that is the option I have chosen. I know I can opt out of this by allowing cookies for certain websites.

I don't want to allow Google/Youtube cookies in this way: I don't want Google to come back the next time and continue to build their cookie cache; I want them to start with a "Google cookie free" browser.

But.....

This means I have to set my Google cookie settings every time I start my browser and visit any of the Google sites. This annoys me a lot.

Is it possible to single out certain cookies (e.g. the one with the Google cookie settings) that I want to keep, while I remove all the other Google cookies on shut down?

(Before you suggest: not using Google/Youtube is not an option).

Thanx,

Thom

On just one website I am having this issue. When I close just that one page, with FF still open on other browser pages, I am not only logged out, but all my information is lost and I have to set up the account each subsequent visit. Every single time. Their cookie still appears in the list, but now Ionly see one cookie for each site, not the breakdown I used to see I don't know how many cookies are actually still there, or if any "sub" cookies have been deleted. I do not clear cookies on full closure of FF and this only occurs on this one website that I visit. That same site viewed on my phone stays logged on and keeps all my info etc. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Dear Firefox Community,

I can't create subject or new post on AMD Community forum. I mean this website: https://community.amd.com/

This can be problem with firefox because before update to version 91.0 I had not any problem. I think that this is problem with cookies because when I open community.amd.com website in private mode I can create only one subject or new post. If I want to second subject or post I can see information like this: "Post flooding detected (user tried to post more than 1 messages within 600 seconds)". Like I said when I want to create second subject or post this is not possible. To solve this problem I must log out from the website next exit the tab and open new one in private mode, log out again and I can now create again but only one post/subject.

This can be also problem with new version of firefox 91.0 because before update to this version I had not any problem. I think that this is problem with cookies.

Can you tell me if you have also this issue?

Thanks.
