"OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc." plugin will sit in the "will be installed shortly" status forever if you have HTTPS-Only mode enabled. I have been pulling my hair out for the last few days trying to figure out why I couldn't play YouTube or many other sites videos.

Turns out the site that the library is downloaded from has a bad certificate installed: https://ciscobinary.openh264.org/libopenh264-2.3.0-linux64.6.so.bz2

``` Websites prove their identity via certificates. Firefox does not trust this site because it uses a certificate that is not valid for ciscobinary.openh264.org. The certificate is only valid for the following names: a248.e.akamai.net, *.akamaihd-staging.net, *.akamaihd.net, *.akamaized-staging.net, *.akamaized.net
I use Firefox to download, copy, and store WikiSpecies pictures.
Currently, my .../Documents/WikiSpecies/Animalia_Plantae_8 directory holds what it says are 90,876 items, totalling 11.5 GB. I have plenty of unused space in that directory (over 91 GB), so space is not an issue.
Lately, when I try to install a new picture, I keep getting a warning that the picture is already stored. This MAY be because I am running out of new pictures, but I can't tell.
Is there any capacity limit to a WikiSpecies directory?
Hello,
After installing Firefox (103.0.2) on a clean install of Manjaro (21.3.7) Gnome (42.4), I started noticing that mouse hover effects such as highlighted tabs, UI of a video-player appearing etc. are delayed after my PC exits hibernation (I am not sure if that is the only cause and if that really IS the cause). Weirdly enough the select menu I used to answer the "Which topic best describes your question?" question to create this post experiences no delay in highlighting the hovered element. Relaunching Firefox fixes this issue temporarily.
To be clear this is no performance issue since everything except mouse hover related interactions are fluid.
Thanks for helping out
Setting `widget.non-native-theme.enabled` to false no longer works; I still get Firefox's default styling for controls and widgets.
I use a custom GTK3 theme in my environment that I want to apply to Firefox. The above setting works in 91 ESR, and broke with the upgrade to 102 ESR.
A custom user chrome stylesheet would be too painful.
Note: You can revert page styling to defaults in View -> Page Style -> No Style.
I am honestly in chock with Firefox's terrible decision of not providing any option for the user to delete downloaded files.
It is honestly amazing that they came up with such a terrible decision. My downloads folder is a complete mess now and there seems to be no way to fix this.
I don't understand why not just provide an option for the user to only open files. People should be able to choose their settings.
I refereed to this previous post and the solution there didn't work: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1370409. By setting browser.download.improvements_to_download_panel to false.
Is there actually no way to only open files now?
I'm not sure what exactly it does, but since I've been to it, a profiler icon has been added to the toolbar and I can't find any way to get rid of it completely (only ways are to hide it). If it could be added, there must also be a way to remove it? How can I close it?
Hello, I have been using Firefox as my main browser for more than a decade. One could say i am some Mozilla fanboy, having convinced many of my friends and relatives to use Firefox instead of any chrome based options (Which there are to many these days). It struck me today, as i was reworking some workflow elements in many programs i use daily, that it is impossible to change any key binding in Firefox anymore. I know it has been a while now, and i searched all over the web for an answer or a solution, but at this point it is clear that other than going in the code and recompiling Firefox manually, it is not possible. I stumbled upon the (only) extension that allows to change some shortcuts, but the two that i wanted to change are impossible to configure from it, being disabling only f12 as i would use it for other things but i do not want to lose the dev console and also ctrl+L to open the address bar, it is quite inconvenient and would much prefer to use ctrl+spacebar as it matches many other bindings i am using with other software. There have been many other features that were changed in the recent years that made me start to look for an alternative, as i see features melting away almost as quickly as the user base of the product.
I do understand that one person's problem is not going to change the way a big piece of software is working, but i am wondering, why are the users losing such features as basic as customizing key bindings in a piece of software that used to be so incredibly customizable in the past? Why is the only viable option to anything chrome based losing it's edge over the competition? Is Firefox v150 be based on the chromium engine or will it die before?
Thank you in advance, and no, i don't need the link to the shortcut page, i already have it.
I have a SonicWall firewall on our office network. I can log into it from an office workstation, but when I try to export/save its Configuration I get the "Secure Connection Failed" message. I've searched for a solution to this but have only turned up two:
1) Disabling SSL Scanning Feature in Your Antivirus Software.
2) By Changing the SSL Settings On Firefox
Neither of these are desirable. For option 1, this computer is using Windows Defender, and disabling SSL scanning is not a feature that I know of. In either case, these solutions are across-the-board and would affect all pages I go to whereas the only one I'd like to get to is this SonicWall device located on our internal LAN.
I recall that Firefox used to allow you to make an exception on a per-site basis. Is this no longer possible? Is there any other way to accomplish this without disabling SSL validation for all sites?
When playing videos, specifically on YouTube, I can see some blocky/pixelated sections in video playback.
Issue is not present on Chromium-based browsers, I've tested in Vivaldi and Chrome. Both are using dav1d.
When AV1 is disabled through "about:config" the issue is gone, but then I face a stuttering problem.
The process manager tells me which window/process is hogging memory. But I have multiple windows open on multiple workspaces. How do I switch to that window so that I can see what it is and decide what to do about it?
Until recently, clicking on a window listed in the process manager would bring that window to the current workspace (ubuntu/xfce). That changed recently. Now clicking/double-clicking does nothing and there only seems to be the option to kill the process.
I guess I can kill it and then look at recently closed windows to see what it was. But that is a bodgy.
Can I fix the process manager so that when I click on one of its listed windows, I get taken to that window on the workspace where it resides? (It always was inconvenient when previously, double-clicking on the window in the list, brought that window to the current workspace. You had then to work out where it had come from if you wanted to put it back).
Firefox's window/workspace management is otherwise excellent. It's the best in my opinion. When it starts-up, for example, it puts all the windows back on the workspaces where they were when it was last closed. Very nice.
I am using a Dell Inspiron 3847 with the standard keyboard which came the system years ago
Recently, when viewing a large online page, when I try to scroll down, the scroll doesn't start until about two seconds after I press my scroll key (which is the lower-middle key of the 4 keys between my right-hand "Ctrl" key and the "0" of the 10-key keyboard at the far right of the keyboard).
This delay started happening a few weeks ago. I do not know whether something I did caused it.
How can I scroll my view starting immediately, rather than having to wait two seconds for it to start?
I first realized an issue with downloading PDFs through the Firefox viewer - I cannot. The download button does nothing, there is no prompt, no popup, and no file downloaded. I have also tried to print to pdf, that also seems to fail.
Today I realized I also cannot attach any files to an email through Gmail in Firefox, which is now leading me to believe that the software is unable to interface with my files at all.
Things I've tried include: - Turning off popup blocker - Refreshing Firefox in the ->Help->More Troubleshooting Information Menu - Starting Firefox in safe mode - Reinstalling through snap
The only way I can currently download files is through wget, and the only way I can send attachments is by installing Google Chrome, which is kind of a last resort for me.
I am running Ubuntu 22.04, this is on Firefox 106.0, though it didn't work last update either.
Thanks for any help
Edit: I have been googling for answers but after posting this question a similar thread popped up, the solution is to install the following packages:
On startup this morning, I saw the Colorways options. I tried a few, but decided to keep my Dark theme.
One of the first set of Colorways options was "no option," a circle with a slash. On the new Firefox View > Colorways page, that is no longer an option. I tried Settings > Manage Colors, to no avail.
The Firefox I'm using now has screwed up colors. I want to revert to the Firefox I had on startup. How do I do that?
