I don't understand. Firefox is eating up memory again in the latest versions, and on top of that, it's the GPU on my PC.

4GB for the app and up to 8GB.

Are you mining Bitcoin on my machine?

What are you doing?

Every 1 - 2 hours Firefox stops loading pages and I have to shut it down and restart it and restarting takes around 6 clicks on the icon to get it to start.

Also one time today I lost all my pinned tabs and had to manually restore them one at a time.

Using Ubuntu 24.04.2 and latest Firefox. Cleared cache but doesn't help.

Firefox has stopped working about 5 times in the last few days while browsing? sometimes on Youtube sometimes it just completely freezes and wont even close with task manager I had to force my pc to reboot yetserday because it wouldnt respond, my pc is rock solid stable while doing anything else including gaming and is 16 months old and have never crashed even once???

So ever since the desktop browser got updated i have been experiencing critical crashes and lag where my pc screen freezes and then goes to black until i restart my graphics card and quit firefox in addition to tabs crashing and very weird performance issues overall, any fixes for this issue?

I keep getting the attached message when I sign into my bank. This just started yesterday (9/4/24), but when I sign in with another browser I don't have a problem?

Hi: There is no Refresh Firefox tab. I go to Help More troubleshooting information. Like I've done a million times. And for Diagnose Issues there's only a Troubleshoot Mode and a Clear startup cache tab. No Refresh Firefox tab. I did not want a new profile. I did not want additional profiles. This has messed everything up. Firefox is not working. Thank you

In a thread discussion about the flag, "browser.tabs.unloadOnLowMemory" dated 23-Nov-2022 (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33706117) it was mentioned that we've disabled tab unloading on Linux because low-memory detection just didn't work.

Has the issue been fixed? Does the low-memory detection work in Linux? Can it be enabled now?

Does it get triggered when SWAP is being used? Or when system free RAM falls say to about 25% of total physical RAM?

We have an asp.net Blazor SPA (server side Blazor) that dynamically generates components within the page. Over time, there is a very large RAM leak under document-shared that climbs until the windows are closed.

We have tried various firefox configurations to try and either disable this shared storage as well as limit but with no luck. THe memory allocation is in GB of RAM space and cannot be limited or reduced until the window itself is closed/restarted.

Research online indicates this can happen due to colocated stylesheets and how firefox wants to cache styles aggressively. Adjustments to move stylesheets does not appear to help.

What configurations can I use to help prevent/reduce this high RAM usage? This does not occur in Chrome or Edge, I cannot replicate this well under FireFox for Windows.

Your site has been freezing daily, mostly twice, in last 3 moths or so - on different networks and different devices, causing me to lost relevant data. As your avid user for long time, I am considering to switch in spite of familiarity. Do better for you current and potential new user as I am very much unlike to recommend you and use anymore. This new version of firefox. I am experiencing icons grey out whenever I opened a new tab. Is anyone experiencing this below?

So, i have a laptop, with integrated cpu graphics (Intel UHD) and discrete gpu (RTX 3060), first times when i set in Windows settings to use Firefox powerful gpu, it just won't, i tried restarting browser but i forgot that i have opened private tab, so i not restarted browser. So, on any pages like WebGL Aquarium, i have pretty low fps, in comparison to other browsers (like Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome). Then, after i see that tab, i closed it, and after restart i got my fps, but.. still lower than other browsers, on WebGL Aquarium with 30k fishes, Firefox max fps is around 35, but on Chrome is around 70 (two times faster). I found one page that shows gpu that uses for acceleration, and it shows pretty weird information in Firefox. https://kdashg.github.io/misc/webgl/low-power.html So, in Chrome it says like "Nvidia RTX 3060 Mobile GPU", and when i choose integrated gpu for this browser in windows, it says like "Intel UHD GPU", but, in Firefox, on first tries it said same, but when i got discrete gpu acceleration, it says that i have "Nvidia Geforce GTX 980". I was like, what? Where it did come from? This explains why I have a fps two times lower but who will explain to me why this gpu is here? I tried to change all acceleration settings in browser, but when i just disabled any acceleration, still shows GTX 980 what is more weird than if it just shows like nothing or Intel GPU, cause is disabled but still uses hardware acceleration, but no matters if i let Firefox use recommended performance settings or set to use acceleration when is available, it shows GTX 980. I think it's about a bug, or something? I can't say that's Windows problems, drivers, or any other thing, cause, other browsers don't act like this, and i just don't have GTX 980 in my laptop on side with RTX 3060 and Intel GPU, anyone even know that laptop like this exists? My computer, being 7 years old (and without the space to upgrade to WIN11), has always been a bit slow with low RAM and storage. The swap from Chrome to Firefox essentially gave it a second life, as Firefox didn't need a lot of space to run. Recently, though, it locks up with almost every search, refusing to let me x out a tab and try to save myself for 3 minutes or more, and the bluescreens have come back, too. If chrome hasn't also gotten worse, I'm considering switching back. Does anyone know what happened? I haven't installed anything new.

It's really frustrating and disappointing, because I thought I had a solution when I swapped to Firefox.
