Apologies if this sounds harsh, but is there an add-on that improves on Firefox's incredibly inefficient add-on ecosystem, specifically, add-on management? Something similar to what New Tab Override does for new tabs, but for the Add-on page?

In other browsers, it's a cinch to search for an installed extension: go to the browser's local Extensions page, and use the search field like any search engine, and get a list of candidates, if not the very one you wanted to see. Firefox, for some reason, wants you to scroll all the way down, including the disabled add-on section, while you carefully check every name, hoping you don't miss it (the many times I've jumped to the "Y" section to look for YouTube Enhancer, for example, and not finding it, going up one by one, only to find its proper name is Enhancer for YouTube).

That's fine for a few add-ons; it's time consuming and frustrating when you have a lot. There's a search field in the top left, sure, but instead of displaying what's already installed locally, it has to go online. Again, for some unstated reason I've yet to find (best guess: promotions). Also wondering why Cmd [or Ctrl for Windows users]+F4 doesn't work as it normally does for websites?

Is there another way that improves this method or eschews it entirely for one that's better?

Side Tip: when searching on addons.mozilla.org, don't use the drop down list with suggested add-ons. Always hit return to get the results; that way, you can use the back button to see the search results again, otherwise, you'll be typing the same keywords every time you want to check out the others.

I'm trying to recover a profile that has the most recent history, tabs and pinned tabs that I seem to have either lost or overwritten yesterday. I can try to reconstruct from my actual history but I don't remember everything I had open. I'm also not sure what to do with all the profiles that are associated with my browser. The version with my actual name is not the default and is an initial version I used on an older computer.A ny easy answers would be appreciated. It's frustrating that there is no way to contact them Mozilla directly.

Thanks

I opened Private window in Firefox desktop browser for Mac, to login to gmail account. After few minutes of usage, I closed the Private window. When I opened a new Private window the 2nd time and open gmail.com, I could see I am not signed out of the gmail account. This is breach of privacy and highly unacceptable.

Why is my account still logged in, even while using Private window? What if I was using this in a public computer? Utterly scared now of my privacy and security in using Firefox.

I use a MacBook, and the main thing I like about Safari is being able to have a bookmarks sidebar open all the time. However, I am trying Firefox for a couple reasons, and there seems to be no way to have a bookmarks sidebar open. All the Help topics on this say to click the Bookmarks button in the taskbar, but there is no Bookmarks button in my version. Has this been taken away? Is it possible to have a Bookmarks sidebar in Firefox on MacOS?

Thanks! :)

The Send Tab/Link to Device feature only works in one direction, from iOS to MacOS. iOS to iOS never receives, although the popup says it sent. I'm using Firefox 98 on MacOS and iOS. I have a Windows 10 PC which can't receive or send tabs/links as well but I'll limit it to the Apple devices for the moment.

Sync and notifications are enabled on Laptop, iPhone, and iPad. I've de-synced and re-synced each device separately and together. I've attempted to send between each device separately and all together.

Neither iOS device can receive tabs/links from one another, nor send to each other. Laptop can receive tabs/links from both iPhone and iPad, but not send to either.

Each time I re-sync an iOS device I get a notification on the Laptop saying that "this computer is now connected with Firefox iOS". But still nothing works.

Fix your software and memory leaks.

Firefox runs at 90% plus CPU use with one tab running Hulu streaming.

All the standard responses are USELESS and do not solve the problem. Please don't waste your time suggesting resetting SMC or having too many applets running in the background. There is something really wrong with Firefox code under Mac Monterey.

I have disabled the Firefox option to use the GPU. I have used software to turn off Intel Turbo Boost. I have removed Google Chrome from my system on the advice of otherson the Internet that Google Chrome Mac runs update software in the background. I created a new user as suggested by Apple Support. Made no difference.

The high CPU load often causes CPU frequency throttling and NOT excess heat. This is NOT a fan problem. The fans are working as they should if the heat level rises. The CPU frequency jumps around from the normal 2.6 Ghz to as low as 1.25 Ghz, which is so slow as to totally cripple the computer. Audio gets distorted and choppy, video freezes, keyboard and mouse stop responding.

This problem started when I upgraded to Mac OS 12. I am now on V12.3.1.

I am out of solutions.

Video playback fails to load. When accessing videos from Crunchyroll on a Macbook pro running Monterey2.3.1 (21E258) from Firefox 98.0.2 (64-bit), I see a spinning animation that never stops. I can access the same content from Crunchyroll by using Firefox from my iPhone without issue. I can view other streaming content like YouTube and Netflix without error. Is there a setting or other fix that I can employ to make this work? I have previously used a workaround with an extension that emulates a mobile environment. Unfortunately this no longer works. TIA for your help.

Running Firefox 98.0.2 (64-bit) Mac OS Monterey 12.2.1 (21D62)

Many websites are not loading at all or taking many minutes to load (bankofamerica.com, maps.google.com, etc.) Maps.google.com does not even load on Firefox.

Usually indicates 'waiting for fonts.google.' in the lower left hand corner, but site never loads. This is happening more frequently, on more and more websites.

Google Chrome has 0 issues loading the same websites. Firefox specific issue independent of ISP. Tried restarting, updating, etc. No luck.
