I'm trying to understand Profiles, especially since I am transitioning to a new laptop.

On my older machine, I have an Original Profile. Since I've never specifically created a profile, I assume that Original Profile contains my current Settings, Bookmarks, etc. Is that a correct assumption?

My new machine also has an Original Profile. Do I need to copy my Original Profile from my older machine to the newer machine? Should I rename the profile on the new machine or leave it as Original Profile?

all my icons keep wanting to sign me in i lost all n y icon mey extensions are there are enabled

enabled but not in  toolbar   ehat is going on     firefox is screwed p everytime  i hit any icons  i have to  reload or reinstall please help

I'm using Firefox (149.0.2 snap) with LUbuntu 24.04.4 LTS. Because of a wrong graphic driver, I had to turn off hardware acceleration in FF.

When FF is started the Initial "Firefox - Choose User Profile" is unreadable (see attached : wrong_screen.jpg), but if I continue (click somewhere in the window) , all the opened tabs are readable.

Once in FF, if I want to select another profile from the application menu -> .. -> manage profiles, then the "Choose User Profile" window is fine (see attached : good_screen.jpg).

I tried to start FF with the "-P" option to specify wanted profile but it continues to start with the unreadable "Choose User Profile" window.

Could someone give me a solution, except finding the good hardware driver for my computer?

You guys did an update that now makes me choose a profile every time I log in. WHY? Keep it simple. I tried to go into Profile and keep it simple. Can you tell me how to go back to reset the old way?

Sometimes, you should leave well enough alone. Right????? HMMMMM???

All I want to do is open Firefox and go to my default page. Okay?

Much to my regret, I clicked on New Profile, and now all my shortcuts are gone. How to I go back???? Or, I suppose I could find out how to add shortcuts. But, just so you know, I am ANGRY that I am wasting time on this! Why couldn't you have left well enough alone????

When I try to browse or download another copy, the error message "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible" appears.

How do I fix this?

Firefox kept losing all of my saved bookmarks and passwords. Each time it updated everything would disappear. I went to the folders where the bookmarks and passwords are stored and the profiles were there but Firefox did not list them when I searched (about:profiles). Tried numerous times to move the files to the current folder but the program still could not see them. Tried copying, moving, changing names of files, etc. Finally uninstalled firefox and attempted a new installation but it will not even open because it says it can't find profiles even though there are profiles in the profile folder. Now what do I do?

Suddenly I have to click passed something called a profile screen. Don't want it. totally useless. Absolutely annoying. I never want to see it again. How do I do that?

I start the Firefox Browser from an icon on the desktop. This icon does not have a padlock symbol in the upper right corner of the icon. When the Firefox Browser starts an icon with a padlock symbol located in the upper right corner of the icon appear on the taskbar. What is the significance or the padlock symbol? What causes the padlock symbol to appear? How do I disable this option? Is this a feature added with a recent update to Firefox?

Help! I updated my account to a new email months ago. I have been trying to set up a new different profile. Copying a profile or trying to add a profile adds the newly made profile to my old email address instead of my new email address. In the new profiles created, I am unable to login to my new email and password.

When I click on a link in outlook recently, I have been getting an seperate firefox pop up but it has none of my passwords. How do i set up to have all the info as the regular firefox browser I use.

Out of nowhere today I encountered with Firefox seemingly crashing. My laptop said it needed to reboot. Once rebooted I began to get the missing/inaccessible profile error. I tried to uninstall / reinstall but continue to get the error. When I search through for the missing profile per all guidance and troubleshooting Windows says it's not found. When I use the "run" it doesn't bring me to a folder but to a notepad type screen (copy paste below). I do not see where I have any options. Would it be effective to just delete all Mozilla from my laptop? I uninstalled / reinstalled but same error.

After closing Firefox, I often get a message for "creating a new profile". It seems difficult to do this and it would be very helpful to have a link where this can be easily done. Thanks for all your help. Alok Bhargava [edited email from community support forum]

i am unable to open a specific profile as i want its always taking me to last profile i used .I tried getting help from AI chat bots and made a short cut for a profile but at the end even its opening the last profile i opened.

When I restarted firefox on my mac, it opened up a new window with no profile/bookmarks as if I was starting firefox for the first time. It doesn't have my old profiles. I suspect there's a "hidden" version of firefox someplace that does have my profiles, but I'm not opening the right version -- which is why it is opening as if I'm starting anew. My dock often shows two firefox icons, but there are not two firefox applications in my applications folder. The only one available on the dock right now is the one that opens a blank profile. And if I open firefox from the applications folder, it also opens a blank profile.
