When I go to the Yahoo main page, using Google and selecting Yahoo News - Current News it shows content but when you try to action anything it doesn't do anything and then shows an error. (see attached screenshots).

I have carried out all the recommended procedures including cookies, cache, etc and restarted Firefox with all Add-ons disabled and it still does not help with this problem.

I have used Yahoo for years and never had this problem and I have tried using Edge and Chrome and everything works as it should so it is definitely a Firefox issue.

So any suggestions on how to fix this would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Running v 60 ESR, downgraded from v 68, with zero problems for 3 weeks.

I've had this problem all of a sudden since last week. Steps I've taken so far:

  • Changed "security.tls.version.min" to 3 from 1 (didn't work)
  • Deleted cert8.db (didn't work)
  • Changed to Google DNS (not sure)
  • Changed to "auto-detect proxy" from "system proxy" (not sure, maybe)
  • Disabled IPV6 (not sure, maybe)
  • Turned off/on wifi hotspot, rebooted laptop (not sure, maybe)

The last 3 steps I took at the same time and they worked. On reboot the problem went away, albeit for 2 days!

It just came back, now it's performing a TLS handshake on about half the sites, with loading after 30-60 seconds or not at all. From searching, I see that solutions are all over the place on this and it's specific to FF. A post clearly identifies a Symantec certificates issue.

This is probably the toughest issue I've come across on FF.

This is basically a copy of what I put in the Ubuntu forum. The problem is the same, no matter where I post it.

Originally I was using Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.

I thought it would be good to update to GG (20.10) though I did briefly try FF (20.04).

As the install was done on an existing 18.04 version things remained the same for programs, book marks, etc.

Ok, now the crunch: I USE Firefox ""A LOT"". When it loads, there are...... 8 x 6 windows of FireFox and each of those have anywhere from one to ""THIRTY"" tabs loading.

Believe me: ""It worked!!""

I could use it, also run other tasks as well - though a VM was pushing it with the RAM. But the entire machine worked.

Now, I am lucky if FireFox loads at all. Let alone let me browse.

When it loads some of the window's tops are flashing. A screen shot does not really show this. (I tried)

All that has changed is the O/S from 18.04 and Firefox from (what ever it was) to 83.0

I don't want this to be a finger pointing exercise between Mozilla and Ubuntu. I would prefer it is helpful to all.

What have I tried? I've tried starting FireFox with all addons disabled. Still happens.

I am going to try to remember to (next time) launch FireFox from a Terminal and pipe the output to a file to look for things.

The machine I am using has shown it is well up to being able to have this running. I have had it working for a few years like this.

This post is (for now) to establish there is a problem. I will post more information when I get it, rather than waiting to get it then post, as I feel there are a lot of people who have very similar problems and I want it known: ""You are not alone!""

Now a bit of extra stuff.

Other things which are weird: When I am watching stuff - youtube for example - the playback is/WAS jerky. I hadn't touched anything in the settings.

After digging around, I discovered that I had to turn ""OFF"" the hardware acceleration for the graphics. Question: How did it get turned on? (Semi rhetorical)

I have a lot of local pages I open with passwords. When I load them the CPU load goes through the roof and nearly invariably the program just exits. No crash report.

Which is a good 50% of how it happens. The other 50% is the machine just locks up and I have to power it down.

When using the dev tools, I'll frequently update the style on a page I'm editing, then switch over to the inline stylesheet to copy and paste the changes I've made into my .CSS file. For some reason when I make updates, they don't show up in the inline stylesheet.

When I make changes and write styles here: https://prnt.sc/vt6mvv

I don't see them here: https://prnt.sc/vt6n97

I used to use this feature all the time in Firefox, but then it stopped working for me some point years ago. I think it was just broken by an update, or some local issue. But it's followed me across versions of Firefox and across machines.

Which makes me wonder if I just don't understand the way this is supposed to work, of if this actually is an issue.

I use this same workflow in Chrome all the time and it works just as I expect. I'd like to come back to Firefox because I like some of the dev tools better, but I just can't work in Firefox without this working.

Any help would be appreciated.

I discovered that my metamask extension disappeared on its own from Firefox. It was not a lost pinned extension. The extension was not listed in the extensions any longer.

I looked in the history and browser had not updated. Does anyone have an explanation? Did Firefox remove metamask for some reason?

Is there a way that I can view changes to the extensions somehow?

Thank you.

When pressing the speaker icon in Google Translate, I get a toast message saying "Can't playback audio. Try refreshing page." I also have a plugin that uses an online library of sounds to pronounce highlighted words, but does not produce any audio when pressing play.

Things I've tried:

  • Restarting Firefox
  • Restarting my Machine
  • Toggling all auto-play features, hardware acceleration, extensions, and plugins
  • Starting Firefox in Safe Mode
  • Reinstalling Firefox
  • Configuring speakers
  • Re-enabling Firefox in Windows Firewall

In the Developer console I get the following error message: DOMException: An unknown error occurred while processing decodeAudioData. (Attached screenshot)

My current Windows version is 1909

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

For our website we de use OAuth2 to login. For this to succeed we need to store some data in de localstorage or sessionstorage. But the data in the storage is cleared when we redirect back from our authenticator. This only happens when `delete cookies and site data when firefox is closed` is checked.

We are not closing Firefox, we are only redirecting the between two different domains. Is this intended?

I started having problems with YouTube recently and I think it is a Firefox issue.

I am running version 82.0.3 (64-bit) and when I log into YouTube, the Home page is not displaying all the content.

I have attached severl screenshots and you can see the problem as follows:

Image Sign In 1 shows the YouTube home page before signing in. Image Sign In 2 shows the YouTube home page after I have signed in using my Google account and you can see at the top right of the screen that my Google Account avatar (Darth) is showing. However, a lot of the content, e.g. Watch Later, Classics and My Subscriptions which are user related are all missing and if you compare this image to Image Sign In Chrome you can see that Chrome is showing everything and works correctly.

I tried this on Edge as well and it works all okay, the same as Chrome, so that is why I think there is an issue with Firefox.

Also, on the left side in the middle in Image Sign In 1 and Image Sign In 2 you can see a blue Sign In box with the words "Sign in to like videos, comment and subscribe." If you select this option you get an error which is in Image YouTube Sign In Error so I don't know if this is related to my problem but I thought it may help highlight what the problem is.

Any confirmation that it's a Firefox issue or any solutions to what is causing it would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I am getting sick of the message "A script from the extension...is running on this page" It relates to Adblock Plus which is the extension. I watch a YouTube video and then this message comes up on another YouTube tab I have open and Firefox switches to that tab and ruins my watching the video I was watching.

Is there anyway of disabling the message from ever coming up? I increased the values in dom.max_script_run_time and dom.max_script_run_time_without_important_user_input which was a possible solution I read but that does nothing.

2: Sometimes when clicking a link (to open in the current tab), it does nothing at all, or selecting an option in a dropdown box won't refresh the page with the new information (for example, zandesk dropdown menus for bug reporting for a developer's game will select the item, but not reload the page with the now relevant boxes to fill out- happens everywhere, noticed it there).

3: Pages will stop loading before they've actually finished loading, like Firefox is cancelling the load because "it's taking too long". I have 400kbps, Firefox, I'm in no rush to STOP loading a page that I'm trying to load...

I clicked on a popup link from Firefox to speed up my browser. Came back to my computer and everything's gone, all my fast links that I had at the top of my screen, like Facebook, Gmail, everything I've saved for quick links over the past 2 years. I want my computer back, just the way I had it. This is a nightmare. I'd much rather my browser run slow (it really wasn't running slow). I tried a system restore, but it didn't restore things the way I had them. Please, what do I do to reverse this nightmare, and please don't ever offer to speed up my browser again.
