I launch Firefox and access the website. The destination website is simple, rich, regardless of type. A few seconds after the website is displayed, the number of revolutions of the power supply fan increases and the sound of the fan increases. And although the temperature of the power supply unit does not change greatly, the rotational speed of the fan is nearly doubled. As soon as I close the Firefox window it starts to slow down.

I endure the noise of fans and use Firefox for 20-30 minutes continuously. At this time, even if the user does not operate it, the fan rotation speed maintains the high-speed range just by leaving the window open and leaving. As soon as the window is closed, the speed drops.

This doesn't happen with other web browsers. This happens even if I recreate the profile.

Hello everyone:

I got this macbook

13" early 2008 Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Memory 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM Graphics Intel GMA X3100 144 MB Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)

Firefox 39.04

I have personas and classic theme restorer installed so I can have the tabs not be on top, and a non moving squirrel picture on the frame. I got the computer used last year, maybe the year before, It's been lightning fast, but I use it for business social media stuff, 30 twitter pages open to monitor hashtag pages. while loading other pages I get script slow errors,

The computer gets HOT the fan is beginning to make noise because it always runs. Even if I open one ONE ebay page (in FF) and let it sit there, it will within 20 seconds stop responding and get HOT. As I write this on safari the machine is running fine fan at slow idle, room temp 82 Humid no A/C.

The computer was wiped, new OS NEW FF 39 new when I set up this machine. When using FF along with Safari or Photoshop 12 I think, they can all be on and working, but FF will freeze, the others will work, and the fan runs so fast it lifts the machine off the table.

I have read and tried so many of the message board fixes, including the about:config tell the flash player not to load in each page repeatedly if not used, no help. I take a screen pic, and then restore it to original if it don't work. Something about a plug-in container. Activity monitor also says FF uses more than 450MB ram Really….? Normal….? 1 tab…? Well safari has 418 MB …..

Done some of the fix it's on the FF help pages, turned off plugins safe-mode still spins up the turbines. Not installed a new FF as there does not seen to be a real fix in doing that from what I have read.

Had this machine for a while, use to work fine, lightning fast, no fan unless watching a movie, now I don't even try using youtube…..

No other add-ons readers, tool bars etc. installed. Ever. I basically do the same thing all the time. Also for some reason even though flash is always manually updated, videos even GIF's on twitter now place an error in the center of the post "your browser does not support video playback"

How can the dam thing use more than 100% of the cpu resources anyway……? WTF ???? Using some of the CPU from tomorrow ????? Some kind of payday loan FF has for the CPU ????

Load_payday_CPU_firefox_interest-rate_120%_  :true  ??? Where is it ?

I can load other info if anyone gives me an idea where to get it terminal, activity monitor, air traffic control, what have you.

Thanks.

I have post this questions a week ago but there is no response of my questions. I re-post it and hope someone could help to resolve the problem. The firefox v.65 crash , usually after 3o mins, when I have the new brought photoshop elements 2019 program running in the background. After crashed I try to restore the tab. However, firefox crash again right after restart and restore the tab. If I keep trying to restore the tab. The firefox has no response and freeze. A error message come out " video driver failed to restart ....... Sometime the computer get into blue screen and die. i find that the problem also happen with Microsoft Edge browser too. I google the possible issue of the crash and get some information regarding the crash. It may be cause by the photoshop element face detection feature use too much memory to run the program or the program has memory leak problem that cause firefox crash.

I did check my computer RAM memory and PC window system files. they did not show any error. I refresh firefox and reinstall my video driver. However, it make no change of the crash situation. The firefox crash and Blue screen die issues only happen if I run my photoshop element and premier 2019 program at the same time. Adobe support said that it was not photoshop element program problem for the firefox crash.

I want to find out what is the root problem of the crash and how to fix it. I also want to know any known issue firefox crash assoicated with photoshop elements program.

Why Firefox using all of my memory. My PC 8GB RAM. Firefox uses 6GB RAM only for 1 tab? I only read manga at http://www.mangahere.cc/ if the ram is almost full, I have to restart Firefox. Why is RAM management in Firefox so bad? I'm tired of this, please fix it. If you don't believe it, you can test it by reading a random manga.

Why do I restart firefox when ram starts full. Because, if I don't restart, then the other programs that run will lag or hang. In other words, Firefox makes other programs to move to a virtual memory (page file).

I hope I can limit firefox to use RAM (for example 3GB).

My Firefox is taking about a minute to load www.hl.co.uk. HL support have said that there is a problem with add ons and to "Refresh" Firefox. The page loads OK in Safe Mode and also loads OK immediately after a Refresh. However, the problem then comes back.

On going to hl.co.uk, the whole browser freezes (no other page will load) and the CPU goes to about 28% and stays there. After a minute the page loads and the CPU reverts to background %.

System is: Win 7 fully updated (except Win 10 updates); Firefox 38.8 ESR (FF45 breaks a lot of stuff as it defaults to 64 bit installation). - I have tried other FF versions back and forward and no difference - Addons are Avast Online security, Classic Theme Restorer, Classic Toobar Buttons, New Tab Homepage. - Whilst safe mode disable of Addons works to cure the issue, disabling Addons manually does not help. - The problem only occurs on the first load of www.hl.co.uk after starting Firefox. If you leave the page and go back to it, there is no delay - if you close FF and wait for it to fully exit then re-start, the problem occurs again - and again only once. - Totally reproducible! - IE11 loads the page fine, - Firefox is not slow on any other page (other than occasional but totally usual delays).

Unfortunately HL have declined any further help and suggest usign another browser - but it is clear that many of their users have the same problem

Fan runs high & hot watching youtube videos. Have new macbook pro retina 15" mid 2015. 2.5 GHz intel core i7. Started happening after second to last Firefox update. Updated to most current thinking it would be fixed. It doesn't happen if I use Safari. Apple support senior lead tried to resolve issues. Sorry, I'm not very technical. Tried shift, control, option start. Tried option, command,R,P start. Tried logging on as a new user. Tried so many options, I can't remember them all. Uninstalled, reinstalled, and uninstalled again. ran disk repair(?). Followed Firefox troubleshoot all the way to the end. Started in Safe Mode...everything. She told me to contact Mozilla to see if you had any answers to my issues. I also had issues last week with Firefox crashing 3-4 times in a row while watching youtube. I sent reports to Firefox. I hope someone can help me. I prefer Firefox to Safari! Thank you!

I'm getting a strange jump in memory use by Firefox. I'm monitoring Firefox memory use with the add-on called "Memory Restart." I keep 13 pinned tabs on my browser (they always load at boot-up). Those 13 tabs take up around 140MB of RAM. I also tend to keep around 50-100 tabs in my browser (I used Session Manager). But when I boot up, none of those tabs open until I click on a specific tab. See screen shot -- this is how my Firefox session typically boots.

After all the pinned tabs load Memory Restart shows around 140MB in use. About 10 seconds later I get a "flash" on the screen with a yellow banner under the tab section that says "Firefox memory has increased by more than 669MB since last refresh interval" (see image). Something is causing Firefox RAM use to jump immediately from 140MB to 669MB about 10 seconds after all my pinned tabs load. What could be causing this immediate large chunk of RAM use, even though none of the non-pinned tabs have been selected. ???

Hi,

My first time here, just recently switched from Chrome to Firefox, but seems like it's a bit problematic. Version 70.0 worked fine, but ever since 70.0.1, Firefox starts crashing (randomly). 99% of the time there is no error message, the browser just crashes(closes) and that's it, no crash report, no error, the only thing I can do is to restore previous session. Usually, after crashing, it will crash again 2-3 times upon opening the browser, until it will finally work...for a while. Rarely there have been errors, saying the same thing - memory could not be read (attached in the post). Does not happen with any other browsers. All my drivers and software are up to date, memory is OK, (did windows memory diag and memtest86), hardware is okay, tried disabling plugins and hardware acceleration, still nothing. All that ever since 70.0.1, before that it worked fine. Is it just me or anyone else having that problem? If any additional info is needed, let me know.

A paranoid thought, but I'm looking for some feedback.

I'm aware Firefox is a memory hog and there's some kind of memory leak situation, but it can easily get up to 2.5 G of the "private working set" memory.

I recently noticed Firefox doesn't have a value for its "Image Path Name" in the windows task manager. Coupled with the high memory use, does this look at all suspicious?

The picture attached is a few minutes after Firefox was loaded. I have a session with about 60-70 tabs restored (the tabs themselves do not have the web pages loaded, its just visible in my tab bar with the name oft he site so when I click it, it will load the actual page).

The picture shows the memory at around 500mb - Sure, I have a lot of tabs, but is there really that much memory consumed by those tabs when they are functionally just bookmarks? This was a minute or two after Firefox was restarted.

The part that makes me feel paranoid is the path not showing up in task manager. Makes me think of some kind of trojan-horse type virus running off the process Firefox is identified on (if that makes sense?).

Somehow, with 18gb memory, Firefox can bog my system down after my computer's been running for a day. Am I expecting too much thinking it should stay "quick as a whip" for at least a few days?

Is any of this unusual or something I should look into closer?

I've been a Chrome user for many years but I've always wanted to switch over to Firefox. I recently did but it's so slow, choppy and laggy for me, while Chrome, IE, Safari and Opera are running good.

Opening multiple tabs at once, loading web pages with much content (like youtube and news sites) takes seconds longer than it does with chrome and there's always some sort of delay. I've read performance comparisons so I know the difference shouldn't be that big.

I have a fast computer (SSD, Radeon HD 7970, i5 2500k etc) so that shouldn't be the problem either.

Help please!

I have 1 or 2 tabs open. And yet it's sucking over half my RAM! I don't normally need that much and therefore haven't bothered to upgrade. No way I should need to up the RAM JUST for a browser with no extensions on and only 1 or 2 tabs open! What is going on here?

I've been using FF for ~8 years and since I've moved on to Linux, I've also been checking out it's memory usage.

Why does it always happen that when FF starts, it takes around 300 MB of memory (no page opened), but after usage, when I close and open tabs, the usages increases ever after -- 400, 550, 600, 700..... till all my 8GB is consumed.

Don't blame addons and --safe-mode etc... I've tried all those. Instead the value reduces by 100 MB and the same memleaked behavior continues.

Memcaching has been limited to 32 out of which less than 1 MB is in use. So is there any accountability for the memory usage?
