I really try to find an answer online but looks like nobody find this to be an issue. Of course i have my password vault locked with a master password. But remembered logins on websites like Google and Facebook are secured by cookie login. Which not require my master password. So when someone use my computer unsolicited, this person gets instant access to my GMail/Facebook.

So how to protect per-logged in pages without resetting cookie data? Because i liked to benefit from instant access to al those website so i don't have to login everywhere any moment i start Firefox.

I recently came across a website listing adjustments to Firefox's about:config settings. These are supposedly done to help make the browser more secure. Modifications to browser.safebrowsing.phishing.enabled,and after, are what I'm most curious about - mostly since the name Google is attached.

Others: - dom.event.clipboardevents.enabled [copy and paste tracking] - network.http.sendRefererHeader [hyperlink tracking]

Website for reference: https://proprivacy.com/privacy-service/guides/firefox-privacy-security-guide

I understand a lot can change within a year, but before breaking something, I wanted to ask if changing any of the above settings, particularly those having to do with Google, will cause damage to the browser itself. -thx

This annoying notification on the bottom right keeps popping up everytime I take a screenshot. I've been using computers for the past 17 years, I know how to paste things by now. Even worse, it overlays on other applications and pesters me there for about 10 seconds until I close it. Can this notification be hidden in about config or do I have to find a community add on that does the same thing, but without this stupid notification?

I have been successfully using FireFox for many years, recently we downsized into a Condo, now 81 years young. I have FireFox as my default browser choice, but it only lists Google on the search bar, when I type in my search in the box under the Firefox name it immediately jumps up to the top of the page Google browser.

How do I get back my screen to use FireFox as my search engine ?? I have tried to change it but will only give me two options Google or Google ?? Is it possible to go back to the screen and try and start again??

Many thanks to anyone who will give me info as to how to rectify my problem, be gentle with me as I am efficient in using the computer but less so trying to solve my problems. Robin

I recently received a request from AVG to have an add-on - AVG Online Security - which will protect against phishing and malware sites. There was a note from Firefox that Firefox does not monitor this add-on.

I use AVG Virus Protection - free copy - and it seems to be doing its job; although, I have been thinking about buying the software.

Has anyone used this add-on? Is it all right to install? Is it necessary to install? Since I changed internet service providers, I have not seen much in the way of phishing and AVG Virus Protection prevented me from accessing two websites it said were questionable.

Hi,

I found some discussion related (https://discourse.mozilla.org/t/disable-add-ons-on-specific-website/33693) but no solution yet.

This is imho a big flaw in the privacy of users.

There are trivial cases, for example if I use a YouTube downloader plugin, I obviously want it to monitor my browsing ONLY when I'm on youtube.com...

And there are some critical cases: when I browse my web banking, or when I go on some trading website, I don't want my financial operations to be at risk because of an add-on that is very useful everywhere but on those site.

However, I don't want to exclude all the add-ons for those website too, that would be just too much.

I think there's already a coding base in place, since you can disable each add-on when using private windows. This could be enhanced by having a system of whitelist/blacklist instead. And this feature would actually make more sense than using a private window.

Another way would be to have this feature on per container, instead of per website, than would work well too.

People have different activities, and some requires useful plugins, that are very specific. I mean Keepass's add-on (for example) is useful everywhere, but many add-ons are related to one activity at a time.

For example, if I'm a marketer and want to analyze website, I'll use add-ons for having stats on metadata or keywords or even real time reports from Alexa or from AliExpress, etc...

But when I'm reading my email, I'm not happy those add-ons can see my data.

That would be tedious to disable all those plugins every time I change activity, especially since we are productive humans so obviously we need to alternate those activities doing multitask all the time.

And the private window option is not flexible enough for that kind of multitasking, when containers are.

I hope this helps everyone understand clearly why I think my request is not only a real user need, but also currently a flaw in users privacy since most people will not trade the comfort of their add-ons for some privacy concern they don't always understand...

I know this is some kind of feature request more than ask for help, but https://qsurvey.mozilla.com/s3/FirefoxInput/ is out of service so I don't know where to address my concern here.

Thanks for helping me pushing this idea forward.

I've been using Firefox for a long time, several years, and recently have been accessing some feature that looks like a password manager on my laptop, called Lock <something>--actually I'm not sure what it's called, because I can't seem to bring it up on its own to locate my password info.

I believe in password managers, and I'm trying to move over there, but I've run into a big snag on my mobile Android device... I have no idea how to bring up my Gettr account on my Android because I don't know where the password that I configured for my Gettr account on my laptop is located. I know it's inside the Firefox password manager somewhere... then I see Lockwise is no longer being supported.

Ultimately I want to synch whatever Firefox's latest password manager is to my Android, so that it functions like "whatever Firefox's latest password manager is" for my laptop. I'd like to synch my bookmarks, too. Can anyone point me to some simple instructions? Thanks. I'm using a primary password now for Firefox on my laptop. My email address is ...

Mozilla has no true feedback page any more, so I chose to post here. I kept the "Allow Firefox to install and run studies" box unchecked since I began to use the Firefox browser (years ago). While I was researching a different issue, I found other users' posts about app.normandy. They all said that it allowed Mozilla to do what Mozilla promised not to do: run studies in violation of users' preference to opt out. Based on what I learned from those posts, I found where app.normandy was in my computer's about:config and toggled it to false. I want to thank those other users for their posts. Mozilla's explanation, also according to those posts, is that "Normandy is a collection of servers, workflows, and Firefox components that enables Mozilla to remote control Firefox clients in the wild based on precise criteria." Aside from whether or not Mozilla should be remote-controlling clients in this way, does it really consider all the diverse places in the world where its users live to be "in the wild?"

Hello I'm working at Imperva which is a security company. One of our product is Web Application Firewall. In this product one of our feature is to identify the application that is used when sending request to a web service. This may help our customer to set FireFox request as legit. One of the attribute that helps us doing it is the request header User Agent. We have found that FireFox which is installed on Ipad generate the following User Agent without the keyword 'firefox' (while Desktop FireFox and IPhone firefox does) Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_4) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/13.1 Safari/605.1.15 (Note that this User Agent ) Because the User Agent is very similar to Macbook Safari application, we can't classify FireFox on Ipad.

Is there any reason why this is the implementation? Can you update the User Agent in the next version in order the security product will be classify it?

Hello. Just looked at the release notes for FF94 and am a bit concerned about this part:

"On Windows, there will now be fewer interruptions because Firefox won’t prompt you for updates. Instead, a background agent will download and install updates even if Firefox is closed."

Does this mean what I think it means? Namely that: (a) updates will be forced on us with no "Check for updates but let you choose to install them" option? (b) Firefox will be running software on your PC even if the browser itself isn't running?

I really hope I am misreading this! Thanks.

Hello,

When accessing my Old Navy account they require a 2 step process for Logging In. Once I click on the login button it takes me to a page where it asks for my email. Here's where I hit the issue: FireFox Password Manager does not fill this in for me; not even the auto-fill works here. After I enter my email it then takes me to a page where my password is filled in (yay!). I'm glad that it at least fills in the password but I'd like to not have to fill in my email on the previous page.

I tried to create a new entry in Password Manager but it won't take the entire url; it shortens it. This url changes each time I go thru the process which complicates everything. I was hoping to take one of those urls (https://secure-oldnavy.gap.com/my-account/sign-in?flowId=wJb1e) but it shortened it to just (https://secure-oldnavy.gap.com). I even tried creating a new entry without the last few characters (https://secure-oldnavy.gap.com/my-account/sign-in?flowId=) but again it shortened it.

Is there a way to get FF Password Manager to provide auto-fill of my email address?

Thanks, Andre'a

Under about:preferences#privacy there is a section 'Cookies and Site Data'. I have my settings set to CUSTOM and block all cookies. I then have managed my exceptions. I did a refresh resently, all that was lost. The best I can do currently is to have wordpad open and manually type each line out in my exceptions and then if needed in the future, I could copy and paste. There might be a better way that I do not know. I do know by default, the 'Managed Exceptions' under 'Cookies and Site Data' does not save if 'Refreshed'. Please address a better process and not my choice on blocking all cookies, thank you.
