When i click on the lock icon in the address bar, nothing happens (I would expect to see the encryption and certificate, but no widget opens). When I right-click into the page and select "View Page Info", "Security", "View Certificate", no certificate exists. Only generic info is shown (Servers+Authorities). Also an error is reported in the system log, confirming that no certificate exists: JavaScript error: chrome://browser/content/browser-siteIdentity.js, line 642: TypeError: issuerCert is undefined

Questions:

  • Why does Firefox show the lock icon while no certificate exists?
  • How does Firefox establish a secure connection without having a certificate? (From my understanding a certificate is needed for TLS to work.)

Version used: Firefox 78.12.0esr ('Mozilla/5.0 (X11; FreeBSD amd64; rv:78.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/78.0'), no add-ons or plugins.

Whenever I open a new page in firefox it automatically loads a page from the recent history in the new window. This is partly annoying because there is a delay waiting for it to load a page you don't want, but is also quite a big problem when it loads a page from the history that was a pop-up with a reduced size, and sometimes with settings that prevent you from changing the page address.

I don't know why it is doing this but it is unusable behaviour. I've tried restarting the computer (and firefox) but it is still doing it. This is version 92.0 for ubuntu.

Firefox 92.0 breaks title bar and all windowing decorations (including focus and key input) running under fluxbox on Linux

Hello all.

I am reaching out since even the fix I had found recently to get v92 functioning again has ceased working.

Since the upgrade to the UI changes in v92, firefox is no longer displaying any of the native windowing toolbar or resizing decorations that are present by default in fluxbox.

I had found a workaround when this new UI came out by manually copying in a userChrome.css and userContent.css files into my firefox profile folder. This restored firefox's old/normal/default behavior of actually displaying the windowmanager titlebar and controls for the application-window so that I could select the window and drag it between my multiple desktops. (the files I sourced were found here: https://github.com/black7375/Firefox-UI-Fix )

Unfortunately though, it appears that even this fix has ceased functioning as I am now stuck with a firefox window that is literally stuck in place where it fires-up. I am no longer able to bring focus to the application, so cannot type into the window. A mouse select only partially selects the application as I am able to navigate mouse-controlled menuing, but am unable to type anything into the application. I am also no longer able to grab the application window and resize it, move it, etc.

This is running on a NOC display with 6 screens, so it is quite critical to be able to grab and move individual windows between multiple screens.

I am a 20+ year user and evangelist for mozilla software and simply need firefox to behave and look like it did before these v92 "fixes" that jacked up the UI.

Is there a way to change the location of the default storage directory? I'm talking about ~/.mozilla/firefox/tjdaag57.default-release/storage/default which gradually fills with files from all the websites I've visited. That directory slowly increases in size and I don't want that, so I'm looking for a way to change the location where these files go.

Hi! I use Firefox on Ubuntu 20.04.3. I tried to speed up video on Sharepoint. Right click -> speed -> 2.0 and nothing happend. When I right click -> speed again, I saw that speed still 1.0. Then I went to google, found that Sharepoint allow speed up videos only in HTML5 player. Then I knew that to do that in Firefox I should disable Hardware acceleration, so I did it, but it didn't help. OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco add-on is activate.

Then I decided that's Ubuntu. I install ubuntu-restricted-extras, ffmpeg packages (to support h.264 video), restarted, but again that didn't work.

youtube.com/html5 saying that everything fine.

Firefox leaves full-screen mode when window manager remaps window to be in a frame and re-sizable.

In the window-manager that I use (KDE plasma), I can ask the window-manager to exit full-screen mode, without telling the window. This allows me to tell a window to be in full-screen mode, while in a framed window. I have attached a screen-shot of chrome showing a youtube video. Both youtube and the chrome are in full screen mode, however the window manager has re-sized it and added decorations (title-bar&frame), and is allowing me to resize, move, minimize, maximize, etc.

This works for every program that I have used (that has a full-screen mode). However it is not working for Firefox. It seems that Firefox is triggering off of the wrong event.

My guess: the window-manager sets NET_WM_STATE_FULLSCREEN to enter full-screen, and would normally clear this attribute to exit full screen. When we exit full-screen, but stay in full-screen mode, the attribute is not cleared. However Firefox is triggering off of something else such as a re-size event.

Use-case: What I am trying to do

  1. Enter full screen mode: browser hiders tab-bar, and address bar, maybe web-page changes layout (e.g. you-tube resizes video player to fill window)
  2. Tell Window-manager to leave full-screen-mode, but not inform browser (or other app). Browser is now still hiding tab-bar, address-bar, site is till showing video in whole-window, but window can be moved and re-sized.

This works for every other app that I have user. (Some apps don't have full-screen-mode, so this does not apply to them. But it works for all that do have it.)

I am running Red Hat Linux Workstation with Gnome3. In Firefox i have an issue with watching video streaming and videos in general (Youtube, Webex, Company's livestream events). Video starts normally and after some time (up to 1 minute) - video just stops but audio continues. I already refreshed Firefox, did a cleanup of cookies but nothing changed. I also tried to disable hardware acceleration, also nothing changes. I tried different browser and it works perfectly in Chrome. Really want to have my Firefox to be only one browser I use so i would like to fix it.

After change the network connection to cable, or to a different Wi-Fi network, Firefox will lose connection and will be unable to access any website unless its is restated, closing all Firefox windows.

The problem happens when:

1. I have the Firefox opened, I disconnect from wife A, Firefox lost connection, then I connect to Wi-Fi B, all other browsers can connect, but Firefox does not. (if Wi-Fi A and B are from different router)

2. A start the computer disconnected, I open the Firefox, I connect to internet, any other browser that was previously opened can connect, but Firefox does not.

OS: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20210912 Firefox version (91.0.2. It occurs in the last two years, it is so annoying)

The laptop is touch screen.

When I tap the address bar at the top, the onscreen keyboard opens up. i am able to type into the address bar. Hitting the enter key on the onscreen keyboard does nothing. I have to tap the little go icon.

If I repeat this activity using the mouse and keyboard. hitting the enter button works fine.

Hi there, I'd like to make a feature request. One of the things that I love about Google Chrome is the ability to run single window apps. This is the only feature keeping me from moving to Firefox at this point. I'd like to request that this be added as a feature in Firefox. The command could be something like:

firefox --app=https://mail.provider.com

This would spawn a single app window that does not have tabs to navigate to other apps.

Thanks!
