Every solution which I have found for Firefox 89 "Proton" so far which moves the Tabs Bar below the Navigation Bar (AKA "address bar"), with the Menu Bar above it, does NOT move the Tabs Bar below the Bookmarks Bar. The Bookmarks Bar appears to be overwritten and blank, and occupies space below the Menu Bar, Navigation Bar, and Tabs Bar. This empty space separates the three bars which are implemented and the content of the currently-selected tab below it.

Currently, my userChrome.css file is a copy posted by Cor-el (?):

Evidently, the text editor for this website does several things to the above original text that, frankly, seem unnecessary and undesirable. The .CSS file is just an unformatted text file, so what is the problem with simply copying its contents and pasting it in to the body of this post?

Which is also to say that I do NOT have a clue as to what any line in the file is meant to do, what effect it has, why it is even in the file at all, or why it is written in the way that it is. So DO NOT tell me that I "CAN" create a Cascading Style Sheet on my own when I cannot even modify one that has been provided.

On the face of it, something is missing from the above CSS text. What change needs to be made to the above content so that the Bookmark Bar will appear between the Navigation Bar and the Tabs Bar??

Thank-you very much for your time and attention to this request for assistance.

Firefox updated and now my tabs are above the address bar, I hate it. I have went through all the information I could and created a new chrome folder, downloaded the css and changed user preferences but it sets the tabs to the bottom of the screen not just below the address bar. I think I need a different set of code for the css but cant find a copy. Does anyone know what to do?

Running Firefox 89.0, Win10. I usually bookmark all tabs in a window to a named folder under Bookmarks Menu, for example Folder1, Folder2, Folder3, etc. Recently, the dialog was stuck to a previous folder, lets say Folder2, as the default, instead of the normal default of "Bookmarks Menu". If I bookmark Folder4, it will want to put it under Folder2 as a subfolder, unless I manually change it to Bookmarks Menu, but the next time the default will go back to Folder2. After trying to manually set the default back to Bookmarks Menu, without success, I tried renaming Folder2, thinking the default will go back to Bookmarks Menu. This didn't work, Firefox chose the new Folder2 name automatically. So next I opened all the tabs in Folder2, deleted the Folder2 in the bookmarks manager, thinking that if Firefox couldn't find Folder2, it would fallback to the old default of Bookmarks Menu. Now when I try to bookmark anything, the save dialog is blank and the only thing I can click is the cancel button. How do I fix this? I have hundreds of tabs open, since the session manager I used to use is no longer supported, I was in the process of saving windows into bookmark folders. I'm worried that restarting Firefox will lose some of recent changes to my open windows/tabs state since the last time Firefox "autosaved?" my session

Thanks

I downloaded Firefox on my Chromebook using the instructions found here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/run-firefox-chromeos However, I have not been able to update it since. It says updates are disabled in Firefox itself, and I have not been able to fine what files I need to update via Terminal to get the most current version. (I have been able to update other files through Terminal). Can someone please point me in the direction of how to update Firefox if installed in the manner described in the link?

Thanks to Proton expanding my Bookmarks Menu off the bottom of the screen, I was re-arranging my bookmarks folders. While wondering which of my folders I had to prune, I noticed another in-built redundancy. The entry "Manage Bookmarks Ctrl+Shift+O" appears twice, at the top and the bottom of the menu. Incidentally the bottom entry is misaligned (Firefox v89 on Windows).

Is there a particular reasons for this duplication? Can I remove either of these entries?

Does anyone know any way to force Firefux [Ver 89.0.2 64bit] to stop the repetitious and constantly annoying pop-up that flashes on open, restart, or randomly appears, reminding me to once again update the apparently flawed software. I just updated yesterday!!!! Can I not trust that the programmers know what they're doing and that the system can actually work as expected without the intrusive proof that they screwed up again?! This is the worst business decision to make these things interfere with my workload. Every firefuxn day there's a new update alert!!! It makes me not trust this browser...

I tried using the browser on my secondary smaller display (1920x1080 60h 16:9) and there is no white line. This seems to be a bug, how do i fix it?

After the update to 89.0 the Shortcuts have taken an 'visual upgrade' that makes all the images chosen for them half as small as they need to be because they need to have a 'cute little grey border' almost as big as the image between it and the corners of the square.

I have twenty four shortcuts, that I differentiate at a glance through the images without having to stop to read the text on each one and this stupid change is really roasting my mellows, I have taken a look and haven't found any option to revert it to the previous look, anyone knows any way to do it or do I have to install the previous firefox update and stop updating and give up security updates to save myself from this stupid change?

What setting will stop the constant notice "Download the latest version of Firefox." I don't want 20 notices per day. It's like having a child in the backseat "are we there yet?" "are we there yet?" "are we there yet?" How many times do I have to click the "Dismiss" button before this stupid software understands that I do not want updates? I've noticed that this is a common complaint. In Ubuntu 18.04, I bring up a new page, click in the search bar in the middle of the page. Then when I start typing it jumps to the address bar although I have already placed and preferred the search bar to the right. No! NO! NO!

I use Duck Duck Go but Google does the same.

It is bad enough that the upgrade was automatically loaded but on top of that, changing preferences including dumping my home page. Change privacy settings without asking ( to a lower level on top of that ).

Really POOR form.

How can we remove the "New Tab" option when right clicking a tab? I find this feature absolutely useless as there's already and "+" tab button to create a new tab. I used to be able to reload tabs easily and quickly by Right-Click tab, Left-Click and the Reload option was selected. NOW, I have to move the mouse down to the Reload option, or press the "R" key on the keyboard. Simple things, yes, but something that is easily annoying if it's added when it's not needed and having to change the way we use the browser. What would of been nicer is that "Pinned" tabs would always be pinned, regardless if that window was the last to be closed or not.

I initially just wanted to get some ad-blocking program to keep down the volume of all the flashing ads showing up on webpages. I'm working with a new laptop computer, and my old laptop had been "tweaked" with some Mozilla extensions (?) to address this, and I wanted to get the same on my new laptop. So I opened the application menu - the 3 horizontal bar icon, top right. First thing at the top, it asks me to sign in. Honestly, I don't think I ever did this. So I used one of the many secondary email addresses I use for this type of thing, put in a password, and created an account. Up popped a screen saying, "This Firefox is connected". Then down below, it said, "Sign in to Firefox on another device to complete set-up". Ugh, really? Ok, fire up the old laptop and open up Firefox and sign in using the same email and password. Here's where I get lost - up pops a screen that says, "Connect another device". Then down below it says, "Open the code scanner on your Firefox app and show code when ready." And there's a "Show Code" button down below this. But I'm hesitant to press it, because I don't know what my code scanner is, I don't have a flatbed scanner (if that's what they're talking about), my phone is broken (part of the reason I have a new laptop today), and I don't see any Firefox apps called "code scanner", and nothing in the help community that I can find about code scanning. So what the hell? I can't be the only person who's gone down this rabbit hole...

I have encountered one web site that has several pages that display as graphics instead of text. I have visited this site before several months ago and the display was accurate then. The first image is how it looks now. The second image is how it looked several months ago. I am running Ubuntu 20.04.2 and Firefox 89.0.2. It's very strange that this is the only page that displays this way. I checked the page in Chromium and it displays correctly in that browser. Is this Firefox or quirky html?

In most standard Windows applications, the title bar and tab colour follows the default Windows settings, e.g. (in my case) the title bar and tab colour of active application windows is blue. This is true even in Thunderbird. Since FF 89, title bar and tabs are something between white and light gray, which is extremely user-un-friendly. FF developer team should return to the previous colour scheme. Yes, I know the circumstances of free software but this is NO excuse to alienate millions of users. Developers that change fully functionable software just, well, just to CHANGE it should consider that they are doing WRONG. Could anyone tell them? I am just user, not developer and I am not willing to learn developer tools like BugZilla just for this simple guiding principle.

Firefox updated to 89.0 today, and my newtabpage looks odd. The shortcuts now have really small previews, as shown in the attached image. How do I get them to be full size again (i.e. fill the box)? It was easier to tell them apart at a glance before the update, post update there's too much empty space. Is there something in about:config that controls this?

Thanks in advance!

Firefox was working well - and unfortunately I had forgotten to switch updates off. Now display settings on some pages are really grim from a "not great eyesight and now things are tinier" point of view.

I use Protopage (custom home page with news etc) and if you open a second tab, it allows you to have a selection of Icons each with a regularly used link. It still works, but after FF upgraded itself, the image in the tile has shrunk to a fraction of the original size - and is now surrounded by a thick border of white (with rounded edges of course).

Is there a "high vis" option which simply removes wasted white space which seems to have just been added at the expense of clarity?

Is there a way to either revert to a previous version OR to undo the visual messing about they have decided we all must want? If so, please let me know, as this "let's change something to make it harder to see", approach is a bit annoying.

Alas I cannot do a "before" image, but the "after" one is shown, complete with my efforts to explain what has changed.

Any guidance on either reversing the update or switching of the "shrink image and surround with large white border" geratfully received please.

Many thanks.
