Is there anyway to restore the format (compactness) of the Bookmark Menus without setting the Automatic Updates to not automatically update and then downloading the 88.0.1 version? I hate to not have the Automatic Updates, for obvious reasons, but don't want to use the double space of the Bookmarks even more.

Hi! I have been a Firefox user on PC/Windows for a long time, years, and had quite a lot of bookmarks. One day, while various FireFox updates were happening, I noticed something, I think it was a popup, saying something to the effect that all your bookmarks will be deleted. Huh!? Couldn't click on anything to stop the install. And after computer restarted, all the bookmarks were gone from FireFox, meaning when I go to the bookmarks button, nothing shows anymore. What happened? They are really gone or where to find a backup to get them back again? I don't recall ever backing them up on purpose, so if there was a backup, it would have been an automatic thing. Please give input. Thank you!

Hi, I have seen instructions on the Google search on how to do this but the instructions don't line up with the current version of Firefox. YouTube videos are all about using code which is beyond me. There must be a piece of software (app) or some other simple way to do this. Has anyone found a way yet?

Thanks, Pete

I was having some trouble with Firefox and decided to uninstall and reinstall it. I selected it in MS Control Panel and clicked on uninstall. A Firefox window popped up and suggested that I try refreshing it instead. I selected that. The result was that a "Welcome to Firefox" webpage opened. Clicking on its link for Bookmarks showed that "Recent Bookmarks" and "Library" were both empty. How can I retrieve my Bookmarks?

The appearance of my bookmarks has recently changed, and I want to change it back. The individual bookmarks are spread out more, so now they take up more space on my screen and I need to scroll the list. I don't need the extra space, I find it annoying and not at all necessary. I have included images of how it looks now and (a doctored image, granted) approximately how it looked before. I've looked all over and I can't find anything on "Appearance of bookmarks".

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The bookmark favicon is wrong and does not match the favicon on the tab. I have deleted and rebuilt favicons.sqlight. The bookmark in question is still wrong. There is no entry for the bookmark in favicons.sqlight. I've reinstalled Firefox, rebooted Windows, ... to no avail. I even tried using favicon.ico without success. The HTML page is correct.

The HTML is simple and the favicon shows on the tab correctly -

<!DOCTYPE html>

<link rel="icon" type="image/png" href="Bandwidth1.png">

max-width:100%;
height:auto;

I have tried to read through some of the details regarding fixes for this but it may as well be written in Chinese as I don't understand. Som,eone tell me how to get my Firefox browser to save passwords like it used to or I'll have to stop using it altogether.

When you right click on bookmark folder, it used to show third option from top - ADD FOLDER now it is REMOVE FOLDER. And by clicking on it, it will not even ask if i want to do that certainely.

My long term builded muscle memory, with fact that there is absolutely no additional visual difference between these options, makes me constantly deleting one valuable folder after another.

I am furious about this. Why would firefox devs change these options? It is absolutely unnecessary!

Btw yes i know that i can redo, if i unconviniently open bookmarks window. That does not solve initial problem.

I mistakenly closed a Firefox desktop window with several thousand tabs in it. (Yes, I know, "several thousand"). Tried to restore it after restarting my box by going to: CTL+SHIFT+H > Import and Backup > Restore > [date] My configuration is here: http://paste.c-net.org/ComboRound.

Firefox normally responds with: "This will replace all of your current bookmarks with the backup. Are you sure?" Clicking "OK" leads to nothing. Firefox just does becomes unresponsive for maybe 20s and then apparently aborts the command with no message at all.

I have no doubt that this is due to the massive number of tabs involved, even though the cached tab-file only weighs 630kB. How can I recover those tabs even if it's in a piecemeal manner and using command line in terminal ? Thank you.
