How can I change URL Bar settings back after FF83 update? Bookmarks & History show up inside URL bar. Also have to click twice when switching between search engines

  • After I updated to Firefox 83, my bookmark and history shortcuts now up inside the URL bar instead of next to it (Picture 1) (I know this is part of the new update 83, how can I change this back?)
  • Additional settings for the URL bar show up (as they should) after I go to a new website. Usually these options are always there (Picture 2) However, all these options disappear (Picture 3) as soon as I type anything in the URL bar and these settings won't return until I open a new tab and go to a website.
  • Lastly, when switching between search engines I know have to click the search engine and then also click enter to complete the switch. (I know this can be 'solved' shift+clicking, but I would prefer for it not to take an extra action and revert back the old pre FF-83 way)

Does anyone have any how I can change it back? - Either by reverting back to FF82, or by using about:config

Installed 83.0 update for my Firefox a few days ago and noticed that fonts in browser looks worse. It bacame jagged (sharp) as if Clear Type was disabled in my system but I checked it and it is turned on. Also I don't see this problem in other browsers, Edge or IE, only in Firefox. Could it be a bug with latest update or what is it?

I'm having problems with 2 websites. One is www.realestate.com.au - I can't search this site at all (I've previously used it thousands of times). The second one is www.gumtree.com.au I've posted items for sale on this site, it will allow me to log into my account but repeatedly boots me off. I've contacted them and they say to delete my browsing history (done) and upgrade my browser (it already is the latest version). I've no idea what to do next. I have no trouble with other websites (to date!).

Hey there Tbird gurus:

I get this message when I doubleclick the tbird icon to open up my ver 78.4.3. (Firefox is ver 83). It was also occurring with the previous version

"Thunderbird is already running, but is not responding. The old Thunderbird process must be closed to open a new window."

I hit cancel, and T bird opens. Does this mean it's about to crash?

I've had battery issues on my laptop, so the computer has shutdown suddenly with Tbird open before. Is there some temp file that needs deleting?

Thank you for being interested enough to respond. Y'all rock.

Hi, after a recent update to Firefox, Ctrl-E now automatically tries to search from Google instead of simply highlighting the address bar. This is really annoying as every time I want to quickly open another site in a tab, I have to press Ctrl-E, then backspace, and then start typing the address. Is there any way to revert this behavior to how it worked before https://i.imgur.com/nxavBpC.png Enclosed image shows the Google search bar as it opens on pressing Ctrl-E. https://i.imgur.com/rehzhj9.png This is how it used to look when I pressed the shortcut.

Today my browser has been updated and I've found very annoying new feature: whenever I highlight a word it automatically shows the magnifying glass to search for that word. Why do you assume I want to search every time? Actually most of the time I want to copy the word/phrase. Is there any way to disable this function? I have to click somewhere else every time because the pop up magnifying glass covers the text below.

Здравствуйте. Если я отпраляю голосовые сообщения с ПК Вконтакте, то у пользователей они открываются только с ПК (иногда с артефактами звука) или с телефона, но через браузер. I installed Firefox a few days ago and it has worked fine overall, but for some reason when I log in to Chase.com, the page goes white and the tab says "CUTIL-UND null null" at the top (see screenshot attached).

I tried disabling hardware acceleration, clearing cache/cookies, and loading from safe mode. None of those resolved the issue.

I am running Windows 10 and have the latest update of Firefox.

If HTTPS-Only Mode is turned on and the Connection Settings has a HTTP URL for the Automatic proxy configuration URL, Firefox does not load the proxy configuration file and all sites that require a proxy will fail to load.

There does not appear to be a way to add an exception in this case. The example given at HTTPS-Only Mode in Firefox does not work because when the configuration URL is navigated to in the address bar, a download prompt appears and there is no lock icon shown.

I believe this is a serious bug in HTTPS-Only Mode because when someone turns it on, it will work because the proxy configuration is already loaded, but when Firefox restarts they will no longer receive their proxy configuration and will lose access to all sites that require a proxy.

This box pops-up while the website's home page is loading.

FF is set to block: *all third-party cookies *tracking content in all windows *cryptominers *fingerprinters FF is also set to block pop-up windows - the website in question is NOT an exception, and so FF should be blocking pop-ups on this site.

I was using FF vs 82.0.2 before the pop-up started appearing a day or two ago. I upgraded to 83.0 hoping this would take care of the pop-up, but it didn't. I'm sure it returns with each new launch of the browser b/c I have FF set to clear out cookies, site data and history when it's closed. But it seems the pop-up block should step in despite those settings.

The site has apparently found a way to thwart the AdBlock feature that will block individual ads, as occasionally I've successfully used the "Block an ad on this page" feature to kill cookie use advisory banners. Could whatever this site has done to render AdBlock's "Block an ad on this page" useless...also be what's over-riding my pop-up settings? If that wouldn't be the case, how is this pop-up getting around my settings?

Or is it not a pop-up? If it's not a pop-up, what is it and is there a setting to get rid of it, or prevent it?

Hello, I've got a serious problem with Firefox version 83.0, 64 bit version, on Wondows 10 ver 2004 I have never had any problems with FireFox, it's been my-number-1-browser since like ... ever.

Problem started today (but I rarely restart my PC), in short => Firefox doesn't open the site i want. In my home network (LAN side behind a router) I have a Synology NAS running my website, let's say the addres using port-forwarding is:

http://my_own_site/ (LAN side and WAN side)

and by typing this (above) addres in a browser's address field, it all goes well when tested on computers where I work, and using my cell phone (both outside of the LAN).

Let's switch to LAN tests:

When I use the Edge browser on My PC, when I type: http://my_own_site/ it also works as expected.

When I use the Opera (12.16) on My PC, it also works as expected.

Only when I open the Firefox on my PC, and type: http://my_own_site/ it opens (redirects?): http://my_own_site.com/ and it IS NOT the website I want to open!

Since all browsers except the Firefox on my PC, work as expected, I don't find it to be the DNS or system related problem. In command line (cmd) when I type: "ping my_own_site" - all pings return (100%) and almost all ale below 1ms.

There's more: Like describe above, my NAS has a network name my_own_site, and is fully accessible when browsing the network in Windows \\my_own_site; it also provides a www based management service with address: http://my_own_site:5000/ <= this also doesn't work. It worked yesterday! What changed?

Please, anyone got an idea what changed and how to undo the change? Please help, Chris
