Updated to version 89 and am not pleased with the visual/graphic interface changes. The tabs are very difficult to read. The new graphic layout fails to clearly identify each tab as a distinct entity or thing to be selected. The text just looks like a long string of text and in some instances of long names on a tab the text just fades away to nothingness.

Please make each tab a "distinct thing by creating a different colored edge on three (3) sides of the tab. Or perhaps have 3 levels of lightening/darkening the table to differentiate it from the background on which it is displayed.

Does the development team have a graphic designer and/or have the changes reviewed by a group of graphic designers?

Please change this please or put the user in charge of how they want it displayed.

With the latest update a lot of ease-of-use has gone away. Include is the fact that tabs that are playing sound only show an icon when I hover the mouse over them. I can not seem to about:config to get the sound icon to remain, despite changing the setting. This means if multiple tabs are playing I have to search all the tabs individually. It also means I cannot quickly switch to the desired tabs muting and unmuting as I prefer.

While this is a specific problem which I hope you can solve readily, it is a part of a pattern I have seen over some of the more recent updates, where useful features are removed in favor of aesthetics. It was this very mistake that lead me to leave internet explorer for firefox. Leave us the ability to turn on and off what we like, instead of forcing us to accept whatever you think is the trend.

Yesterday, Firefox updated and moved my tabs bar up to the top of the window, and got rid of the button that lets me move them to the bottom. They used to be below the bookmarks toolbar which is where I like them.

Last time I could right-click the Tabs bar and there was a button called 'Tabs on top' which I could disable, and the tabs moved back to the bottom. But they got rid of that and I can't find where it's gone.

You SLAMMED me with a WHOLLY-unwanted format / appearance change and v.89 - FORCING a switch back to v.88 but, ALSO forced BY you to 'create new profile' - SICK of such STUPIDITY and ABUSIVE, thought-DEVOID practices; much, MUCH harder to distinguish with my eyesight with NO apparent means of ALTERING it and, I am PISSED - an ENORMOUS amount of work to TRY and remember WHICH links were open (over 100 tabs) to say NOTHING of having to RE-SIGN back IN to certain webpages when required - if I'm even ABLE.....

Please respond ASAP.

I searched quickly and know the older css tricks for tabs on top.. butI opened FF this morning to see the new version. My tabs now show individually at the bottom above my windows toolbar. It only shows the active tab unless I am at the firefox start page. I have to cntrl - tab to see any of the others.

I tried changing themes etc. Currently on system theme. I have 4 tabs open but only show this one at the bottom. I want them all showing at the top as I've seen in screenshots. Pic of mine below showing the 3rd tab only when there are 4 there.

Please help.

Apparently my Firefox had an automatic update yesterday. Now I am forced to use and/or select a Theme. All of the themes are basically the same (with different colors) in that there are no longer any lines dividing one tab from another (visually) and I can no longer just close a tab without moving to that tab. THe visual lack of definition between one tab and the next is very annoying, to put it mildly. I just want to go back to the way the tabs looked before this update. How can I do that please?

As a general comment, I'm fine with adding new options as to how tabs might appear -- but only if they are truly "options". I fee that it is a mistake to take away something that many users are comfortable with. And why would the only themes offered all be the same style? What happened to personal choice? I was looking for something like "classic appearance" to get to what I am used to but that doesn't seem to exist.

Help? Thank you.

Help, how can I go BACK to the last version of Firefox?? I HATE Version 89. Not only do the new tabs all blend in with each other because they're all the same color, but they're placed lower in the screen and add a strip of unused dead space along the top of screen, which means the content I want to see is all pushed down into a smaller, squished space. Arg - already getting high blood pressure trying to navigate it!

First of all, this doesn't affect the Windows version, only the Linux version (didn't test on OSX). The problem is as follows: 1. Firefox installs an update in the background while still in use. 2. I open a new tab. 3. That's it. After an update finishes downloading, new tabs refuse to open, some citing a crash (if opened by active tabs, such as YouTube), most stating the browser needs to restart. It is not a networking problem, since already active tabs function normally, even YouTube playlists function as intended (despite the fact that they nominally refresh the entire page); and, as mentioned, the browser itself says it needs to restart. Q1: Is this intended behaviour? If so, Q2a: what purpose does it serve? If not, Q2b: what causes it? Additionally, after an update, Firefox (again, only for Linux) has rendering problems when first booted up, causing tiling, and needing Alt+f4 to close. I may revisit this issue later in a separate thread.

There are no more borders around the tabs except the active one. It is hard to click click fast to change to another tab - special with pinned tabs with some icons blured with the theme I love. Also the theme-icons got deactivated and there is now the lower bar empty without the tabs. They went up into a new bar higher added. How can I fix that with boardred tabs located downwards and the intuitiv easier clickable icons back?

Hello,

I just installed the new update. The new tab design is totally confusing/unclear to me. Especially the fact that the new tabs don't have a "seperator-line" to the next tab. Thats totally disturbing to me. It's really difficult for me to keep the overview about my normally around 60 tabs now. Is there an option to switch back to the old tabs look and feel? Are there other options to customize the look of the tab bar?

Thanks in advance and Greetz!

With the new "tab line", all the tab-line looks the same across multiple Firefox windows: they have the same background color, and the only difference is that those "inactive windows" shall have tab-names in a slightly fainted color.

Attached is a screenshot with a "custom theme", as configured here: https://color.firefox.com/?theme=XQAAAAIWAQAAAAAAAABBKYhm849SCia2CaaEGccwS-xMDPsqufDOWr6IhCp9RnjnsdP9GNu2SjSQBIXJelHlUb_p3iV0Tk_tp5WixtO7xQnun54TM0zzonAd6w0T64epRIX-MPh_WdfDW_w-yhADmUgnb68gPKrs8qenrbJlNLa8ExfeSsKaaHfQ-9sW8GyKyObiSlDh9ijHuiE5lJEM3vAAjTa46EQ7ytUeVh0LL3__uhviAA

Please advise if I am missing something super simple to configure: basically, I'd like to apply a different background color when the Firefox window is inactive. (The Solarized dark theme does part of the job, by leaving an noticeable boarder when the Firefox window is not maximized.)

It also helps if I can completely disable this new "theme" feature and restore to the the old way that these "tab-lines" are rendered.

Thanks a lot!
