Hi!

Let's start by saying that I love Firefox, that I use it as my primary browser everywhere and I love that is not based on chromium. However, for reasons to me unknown is missing a very important feature (natively at least): tab grouping. This feature is extremely simple to implement and in today life, where in most jobs (I'm a researcher) you have to deal with a tons of tabs opened in your browser, being able to effectively organize them is a must.

My question is: has Firefox the intention to implement (again) this feature? Will this happen soon?

I'm really trying my best to not switch to a competitor browser and I really want to support Firefox and hope that it gains more and more users. But for this to happen it really needs to be on par with time. How come every other popular browser has a very good tab grouping feature and Firefox doesn't?

Please, let me know if there's a chance to see this feature implemented in reasonable times. Sooner or later, you will probably have to do that reagardless.

Wish you the best, A.

Up until Firefox 116, Reopen Closed Tab (Ctrl+Shift+T) would reopen closed tabs, and Reopen Closed Window (Ctrl+Shift+N) would reopen closed windows. There was a clear bifurcation, so I could freely close windows and not worry about it polluting my tab history in another window.

The latest change has thrown out that advantage, and now Reopen Closed Tab reopens both tabs and windows, while Reopen Closed Window still just reopens windows. This makes the later essentially useless and the former much more difficult to use for me.

I assume this was done to just continue copying Chrome in all respects since that's how it handles it, but the changelog just vaguely states, "This change is in anticipation of upcoming changes to recently closed tabs."

Does anyone know if there's a setting to separate the two functions again?

Hi

Running Firefox 71.0 (64 bit)

Well seems Firefox has been messing this up again.

Anyone have the new work around solution to get my tabs back on the bottom again. They were fine this morning then shut down and went out to lunch and when I came back they were back on the top again after months of being where I wanted them below my bookmark bar.

Thoughts on this?

Thanks Dave

In the new version of the Developer Edition the options "close tabs to the right" and "close other tabs" are in a sub-menu named "Close Multiple Tabs" inside the context menu. Is there's a way to change this so that they will appear directly in the main context menu? I use "close tabs to the right" often and I find this very annoying.

Firefox updated and now my tabs are above the address bar, I hate it. I have went through all the information I could and created a new chrome folder, downloaded the css and changed user preferences but it sets the tabs to the bottom of the screen not just below the address bar. I think I need a different set of code for the css but cant find a copy. Does anyone know what to do?

With the latest update a lot of ease-of-use has gone away. Include is the fact that tabs that are playing sound only show an icon when I hover the mouse over them. I can not seem to about:config to get the sound icon to remain, despite changing the setting. This means if multiple tabs are playing I have to search all the tabs individually. It also means I cannot quickly switch to the desired tabs muting and unmuting as I prefer.

While this is a specific problem which I hope you can solve readily, it is a part of a pattern I have seen over some of the more recent updates, where useful features are removed in favor of aesthetics. It was this very mistake that lead me to leave internet explorer for firefox. Leave us the ability to turn on and off what we like, instead of forcing us to accept whatever you think is the trend.

Hi! I do Duolingo on a daily basis. Many/most of the tasks comes with audio, and then... the tab changes size - to show a "Playing". A short time after the sound has stopped, it will change back. I react every time, and it is very disturbing. I really don't need to have such information in the tab/window, because I usually/always hear when Firefox is presenting sounds. I want to find somewhere to turn that "notification" off. Is that possible?

How can we remove the "New Tab" option when right clicking a tab? I find this feature absolutely useless as there's already and "+" tab button to create a new tab. I used to be able to reload tabs easily and quickly by Right-Click tab, Left-Click and the Reload option was selected. NOW, I have to move the mouse down to the Reload option, or press the "R" key on the keyboard. Simple things, yes, but something that is easily annoying if it's added when it's not needed and having to change the way we use the browser. What would of been nicer is that "Pinned" tabs would always be pinned, regardless if that window was the last to be closed or not.

In most standard Windows applications, the title bar and tab colour follows the default Windows settings, e.g. (in my case) the title bar and tab colour of active application windows is blue. This is true even in Thunderbird. Since FF 89, title bar and tabs are something between white and light gray, which is extremely user-un-friendly. FF developer team should return to the previous colour scheme. Yes, I know the circumstances of free software but this is NO excuse to alienate millions of users. Developers that change fully functionable software just, well, just to CHANGE it should consider that they are doing WRONG. Could anyone tell them? I am just user, not developer and I am not willing to learn developer tools like BugZilla just for this simple guiding principle.

Dear Mozilla Support,

After some update (I think from 89.0.0 version of Mozilla Firefox - this version with new looks of tabs) I notice flickering on the tab when I loading website or refresh website. This looks very strange. Like I said I dindn't notice any issue with flickering on previous Mozilla Firefox versions. Only with these new versions with new look of the tabs. I didn't remember if it was 89.0.0 version or 90.0.0 version. I don't know if it is problem with the machine but I didn't notice this issue on another computer with 90.0.2 Firefox version but with Windows 10 OS. I also noticed this issue with Firefox 90.0.0.2 with Windows 7 OS on another computer so I don't know if this is problem with two computers or Firefox itself. Can you help me?

Yours faithfully, Piotr

So, I just got the new firefox update, v91 I think? and the tabs are absolutely driving me insane. I can't quite find how to fix it.

Last time, I had the proton tabs disabled and that was pretty much all I needed to fix the issue. But right now I've got two problems: 1. I really dislike the floating look to them, is there any way to again block the proton update/feel etc? 2. This is the one that's truly got me bananas: the volume icon that one usually got in the tab by default when sound was being reproduced... now only shows when the cursor hovers above it, otherwise it disappears. Is there any way to bring this function back?

Please, please help.

I adore Firefox, have been using it pretty much since 2004 or thereabouts, and would not change it... but sometimes these changes drive me to tears. I'd love it if there was a manual or something that would teach one how to change these things without having to bother anyone else :(

Thank you guys!!

Please, please, please, stop changing things that were working just fine. Every time you make one of these pointless UI changes it pushes me towards Chrome. I really prefer Firefox and have used it almost exclusively for over a decade. But how am I supposed to be able to use it when I literally can't read the interface? With every update I am sent to google various solutions posted by other users trying to remedy problems caused by the latest update. I shouldn't have to dive into about:config every time the FF developers decide to play with the source code. I shouldn't have to install UI addons to maintain intuitive workflow. I shouldn't have to append userChrome.css with code copy-pasted from some forum. And this is to say nothing of the users that are inexperienced enough or unwilling to make such changes. Most just switch to Chrome. Sure, some of it is personal preference. "Do you like large tabs or small tabs? Do you like square tabs or rounded tabs?" But when I LITERALLY CANT READ THEM, that's not something ANY user should have to google or fix on their end. That is the developers dropping the ball. Fix this. Firefox developers, YOU fix this. Because I am DONE with midnight scrambles to repair what someone else broke.

I truly cannot fathom why a browser, in this day & age, cannot put the list of open tabs & windows in the drop-down menu, in even SOME KIND OF ORDER! But no, it's nothing more than a long list, impossible to filter in any way, that is not in chronological, alphabetical, order of most recent used, no option to list via website or page title, etc. This is so ridiculously frustrating, along with the molasses lack of speed in opening up windows or tabs, that I'm on the verge of just chucking this entire app, for good. Why do our state-of-the-art advanced technological devices and apps, feel more like we're going backwards, and not forward??
