When I download a file and click on the downloads button to bring up the Downloads menu, I often just want to open the Linux Mint file manager in the right folder so I can move the file to a more appropriate place.

In the menu, there's the little button to the right of the listed downloaded file with "Open containing folder", but if I click on that, FF opens the downloaded file, not the file manager.

Obviously this wasn't always like this, but I don't recall doing anything that might have caused the issue. How can I set FF back to the default action of opening the Linux Mint file manager?

Thanks!

Clicking "Show more comments" on Facebook does nothing (I browse it without an account), also no comments are shown in Cracked.com, I haven't noticed if other sites don't show comments. I use Ubuntu 20.04 (when I first opened FF on this pc it had the gnome icon and I hadn't checked for this problem before importing my old profile with add-ons, now it doesn't show the icon for some reason), I tried safe mode, refresh firefox, creating new profile, uninstalling and deleting home/.mozilla folder, no luck. Before I got this pc I used my old laptop with windows 7 and I'm pretty sure I had the same problem with facebook comments that had started some time earlier.

Today I updated my Firefox Developer Edition to version 89.0b2 and now I just can not look at this browser anymore, "Inspired new tab design" is taking too much space and now became largest and at the same time least information-dense panel in my entire desktop! I searched around the web for a bit in hopes that I will find a theme or an add-on that will revert this particular change but no luck. I really want to revert to old UI look (at least tabs bar), there should be default theme or option to get back to old style. After some investigation I found userChrome.css but don't really want to install it (maybe this is actually the way of doing this kind of styling). Please help me revert UI design to old one.

After migrating from Firefox 87 to 88.0.1 under linux-64 (debian 10), the browser became very slow. Typing has a delay of 2-3 seconds between end of type and appearence on screen. Same for loading pages. Migrating back to firefox 87 is a nuisance since part of the setup is lost and mozilla keeps insisting daily to switch to firefox 88. The articles in "Fix slowness" do not seem to help.

Any suggestion?

I have Firefox installed on an XUbuntu 20.04.2 LTS machine. preferences to "restore previous session" on startup. Intermittently, when I launch the browser, one of my windows has a very strange appearance (please note the general look of the window in the attached screenshot and ignore the "page cannot be displayed" message, as the screenshot was taken when I was not connected to the Internet.)

I have already tried reseting Firefox and that does not make the problem go away permanently; it always comes back eventually. (Note: I cleared cache before, and cookies after, taking the screenshot but before opening this support request. So the "troubleshooting information" attached reflects how it is after cookies are cleared.)

Hi, I just discovered a problem setting secondary email when both primary and secondary is on the same domain, gmail.com.

Following the instructions:

Set up secondary email

The error that come up says that the secondary email must be different than my account email, but it is, the only common thing is the domain.

So this is a bug, please fix.

I set about updating my e-mail address on this forum. I followed a hyperlink which had been e-mailed to me automatically in the past by the forum, and which pointed to support.mozilla.org

The first screen (whose URL I don't want to try to get right now because doing so might sign me out of my Support.Mozilla.org account) offered only an option for creating a new account, not signing into an existing account. It turns out that this is a very significant wording mistake that needs to be corrected.

Since I thought my existing account didn't exist anymore, I made a new account with my new e-mail address.

Then I found that the short username assigned to my new account had a "1" suffixed - which meant that my existing account did exist after all. So I deleted the new account. I also managed to sign into my existing account by using the misleadingly named "Create a new account" method.

The next problem was how to change my primary e-mail address. There is no evident way to do this. I eventually found article https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-primary-email-address-firefox-accounts which confirmed my suspicion that the recommended workaround is to add the new address as a "secondary address," then delete the primary address. This is another significant issue that needs to be corrected. I'm registered on possibly dozens of Web forums etc. & all of them (except Mozilla) simply let me change my e-mail address when I need to.

Anyway, now apparently the support forum doesn't let me add my current e-mail address as a secondary e-mail address, because there is still a record of this address on the defunct account that I just now created. Also, the error message here is worded incorrectly (it claims that my new e-mail address is the same as my old e-mail address).

Can I please have assistance from a forum admin in getting my e-mail address updated, without change to my short username.

I also wish there were a more obvious way to ask for help (or raise defect reports) regarding the forum itself.

Thanks for your help.

I am the webmaster for a church website. As you will see about the collected data on my computer, I work on a Linux computer. Because of the pandemic, the church has been worshipping using livestream video run from the church's website. To aid parishioners with the service, we post pdfs of the Service Bulletin, Readings for the Day, and other aids to participate in the service.

Up until, I think, Firefox 87, in testing the webpage before publishing, I was able to open the pdf links in a new tab. Now, when I try to test the pdf links, Firefox prompts me to save the pdf and I cannot view it online. Given that the pdfs were generated on my computer and exist in my files, It is somewhat ridiculous that I'm being prompted to save the pages.

However, because I also have a Windows machine, I know that this is not happening on all of Firefox, just on the Linux version,

How can I alert Firefox to get this fixed. When I'm not acting as a webmaster, I have occasion to click on a pdf link and it is annoying that it will not display in the browser and and opens up a "save" box.

Dear Mozilla Community,

I would like to know when Firefox will be dropping Windows 7 support? I readed on some websites that Google Chrome will be dropped support for Windows 7 in 15 January 2022 year so I would like to know if there are any plans by Mozilla Developers to drop support for Windows 7?

I don't have computers with Windows 7 but my friends asked me about this because they know that I am active community member of Mozilla but I can't answer because I don't know so this is why I asked you today about this.

Yours faithfully, Piotr

Hello,

I recently was forced to change the address of my blog from "universalism.com.au" to "universalism-au.com" (due to silly legal requirements introduced a few months back about requiring an ABN if you want to use the .au suffix).

"universalism.com.au" is now a dead link, but when I start typing "uni..." in the address bar, it always autocompletes to this old and depreciated url rather than my new one. I would like to be able to type "uni..." and have it autocomplete to the new address, "universalism-au.com"

I have cleared what seems relevant from my browsing history, but no luck. Is this perhaps being caused by my default search engine (duckduckgo) recommending the wrong address?

I have attached a screenshot if this helps.

I am suffering from slow load times -- especially the first time when the firefox is loaded for that day. Likewise there is a big pause when I go into settings -- saved usernames/passwords. Over the years I built up thousands of these pairings..

How can I easily remove all the old ones - say a year or older?

Please don't say, select the one, click delete, answer to are you sure prompt etc, as these actions take ages to do one at a time.

I have a problem with some JavaScript code that is run on a hashchange event.

The code updates the web document, and also the document.title. The document.title is modified last.

If not modifying document.title, everything works fine. If updating document.title, the code sometimes fails, but not always. The symptoms are as follows.

  • The document.title is updated correctly, according to the A-tag with the hash URL that was clicked.
  • The URL field in the browser is not updated to the new value.
  • Non of the other document updates are done, even if they are performed on the code lines before changing document.title.

If a move the mouse outside Firefox and click in another window, the browser URL field is updated and the rest of the document is updated.

I then tried the code in google-chrome. There everything works fine.

If I add a console.log() in the hashchange eventhandler, everything works fine. Another work-around is to use window.setTimeout and delay modification of document.title by e.g. 10ms.

Is this a problem in Firefox, or am I not supposed to modify document.title on the hashchange event?

I am using Firefox 88.01 for Fedora 33.

I guess I should not include HTML and JavaScript in this editor?
