I have found a few pages about address rewriting; how do I disable them all ? - searching single word into google (type "keyw" in about:config to disable it) - hiding http when not using https - trying to add "www" and ".com" around a single word when the word did not resolve

I consider most of them as security issues for various reasons.

And when editting an URL, I want firefox to keep showing the full url as it was invoqued; not add https randomly, or removing http other days. And the more I disable some, the more new ones appear.

In the new version of the Developer Edition the options "close tabs to the right" and "close other tabs" are in a sub-menu named "Close Multiple Tabs" inside the context menu. Is there's a way to change this so that they will appear directly in the main context menu? I use "close tabs to the right" often and I find this very annoying.

Hello folks,

I'm looking to upgrade my FF browser as much as possible, but I need to run Mac OS X 10.9.5 (for legacy software) on my older iMac.

Currently running "78.15.0esr (64-bit)" and the "About" window says "Firefox is up to date" and "You are currently running on the esr update channel" (Not sure what that means)

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

By fixing the very first option you come across as soon as you go into General Under "Startup" The setting called "Restore previous Session"

Usually, a checkbox, is a boolean ON OFF.

Once more, this leaks data. For instance, logging into my webmail rebooting the machine, next time i launch firefox it spawns the same session again. This contradicts with the very first option under "General" -> Startup

If this was a public machine, some one would now have access to my email.

It seems that this is OS specific. But really, i don't care. My complaint stays the same. The option is broken, and firefox leaks data therefor. I no longer trust Firefox. This sort of stuff is not done deliberately.

Once more. perhaps bit logic is too complicated for you UI designers and a quantum gyro is more to your liking? Cause this is NOT normal.

DISCLAIMER: THIS HAS BEEN SOLVED! Dear Firefox Team, I have installed Firefox-ESR on my HP Chromebook 11, using linux. I saw it going slow so I searched up stuff. I went to "whatsmybrowser.org", saying Firefox 78. I saw that on an article there is 91 and 95. It is 11/3/21, and no update is showing up which a help article said "On 11/2/21, users can update to Firefox-ESR version 91." I couldn't update, so I am now asking for help. Its also going VERY SLOW which I can barely run scratch, google, and even the homepage. Please give me answers so I can fix the problem. Thanks, cogithedog.

Very similar to posts in previous years that are archived and largely unanswered or not up-to-date.

I opened up my a Firefox session to find out I was logged out of sync and when I logged back in all my passwords where erased.

This has been stable for the last 10 months and Firefox has provided a reliable password archive with nice syncing features. However, this is a deal breaker, since I cannot loose the login credentials randomly.

No updates. No conscious logging out. No disregarding warnings etc.

Anyway to revert or retrieve?

Hi,

We are using firefox as the browser client for a webrtc based video streaming application. The other client is Gstreamer webrtcbin. The communication works fine with FIPS mode disabled, but it fails when we enable FIPS as part of security. The Gstreamer client sends an SDP offer to the firefox browser client, but it fails to create an answer and respond back. The WebAPI (RTCPeerConnection.createOffer) fails with below exception at application code.

"UnknownError: The operation failed for an unknown transient reason"

Also, tried to check some failure message in browser log and found as below. Not sure if it is related to the failure.

NS_ERROR_ILLEGAL_VALUE: Component returned failure code: 0x80070057 (NS_ERROR_ILLEGAL_VALUE) [nsICryptoHash.init]

System setup:

OS - OpenSUSE 15 SP3 Firefox version - 78.13.0esr (we also tried with version 91.10.0esr)

Any quick help will be much appreciated as we are stuck with this.

Thanks, Saurav

Since upgrading my iMac to Big Sur, I get an extra Firefox icon in my dock. Now, here's the strange part: it has a small screen on the icon at about 2:00. Even stranger: it connects to the website my wife has on her macbook. It gets stranger: the Firefox icon with the screen appears even if my Firefox app is off. And finally: the icon connects to her Safari app, not her firefox app. That is, when I click on the icon with the screen it shows me her Safari website.

I am at a loss.

Hi,

My configuration is Firefox 78.14.0esr (64-bit), running on Slax, a Linux live distro based on Debian 10.

The URL I'm having trouble with is https://oldtime.radio. I click on a channel on the main page and the audio appears to stream. The tab in Firefox shows the speaker icon in the corner, but I get no sound. I've tried launching Firefox from the command line in safe mode with a new (blank) profile with the same behavior. No error messages in Firefox or the console. YouTube plays okay, as do various news sites. When an audio file is "playing" on the old time radio site, a link appears to download the corresponding mp3 file. If I click that link, the mp3 file autoplays correctly. Just streaming doesn't seem to play. I tried the site in Chromium and it works correctly.

I'm not sure how to further troubleshoot. I suspect there might be something like a codec that Firefox isn't finding that is included with Chromium but I don't know how to identify or trace what the stream is from the site.

Thanks,

Pat

After the latest release of Firefox, it is automatically forcing https on our site EquestrianCoach.com. We do not have a security certificate at this time (yes I know we need one and we are working on it). Therefore we get a "Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead" page and no one can access the site. Even if you manually try to take out the "s" it directs right back to https. I heard Firefox does this if it detects a SSL, but again, we do not have one or never did for this site. I see other sites with no ssl work fine. Is there a work around to not have Firefox do this? All the legacy Firefox browsers work fine on our site. It was just with the last release it somehow seems to think we have one and force redirects. And to clarify, it isn't just on one computer. All members who have the new Firefox have this issue. Thank you for any assistance! It is greatly appreciated!

Hi,

I have "Default Bookmark Folder Extension" enabled in the Add-ons Manager of Firefox (78.15.oesr). It now defaults to Other Bookmarks folder Instead of prompting me for various previously created folders. I have not knowingly changed any bookmark related settings. I was able to bookmark whichever folder that I prefer just two days ago.

Default Bookmark Folder Extension - Allows you to choose the default bookmark location folder and quickly bookmark pages via a dedicated icon.

Any idea how to solve this issue? Thanks.
