Hello there. Some months back Firefox decided to block my Dragon NaturallySpeaking extension. This extension is needed so that I can properly control my browser using speech as I have severe repetitive strain injury through typing. The explanation given is that the extension violates some privacy rules that Firefox have put into place.

Whilst I fully appreciate how Firefox is looking out for us, I am really puzzled as to why I do not have the option to say that I am not concerned about this issue and want to continue using the extension. The Dragon NaturallySpeaking software costs several hundred pounds, and it has now been rendered much less effective, which prevents me from working properly in my browser.

I have of course contacted Dragon NaturallySpeaking who just said that they were looking into it, but nothing has been done (presumably I am running a version that they no longer actively support).

Could you please explain to me why it is not possible to allow the users to make an informed decision about whether or not to continue to use an extension? I find it very hard to believe that an extension which is well established as the leading speech recognition software is a serious threat to me?

When I right click on an image and select "save as", after selecting where to save it and then selecting save, firefox just hangs and is completely unresponsive, leaving me having to terminate it through task manager. No error message ever come up, Firefox just freezes.

Firefox changed the design on tabs and other features some time back. The whole user experience has been worse since the UX design was changed. For example, it's impossible to find out without going through tab after tab, which one is active and playing. I wish there was an option to reverse back to the old design.

I cannot logon to icloud using Firefox (since 3 days) on my windows pc. It normally works fine

I can logon on using the mobile firefox browser and I can logon using Edge. However, I don't want to use Edge

I use a VPN (including browser extension) but I haven't had a problem before

My laptop is often "borrowed"; access to my "recently bookmarked" items can (occasionally) be inappropriate. I am surprised that there is not a 'easy to access' method to toggle it OFF (!?) I found the below describing how to does this. HOWEVER, I do not find the key (showRecentlyBookmarked).

SUGGESTIONS ?

Directly Edit a Preference The menu item switches a hidden preference from true to false, and you can do that directly as follows: (A) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful. (B) In the search box above the list, type or paste book and pause while the list is filtered (C) Double-click the browser.bookmarks.showRecentlyBookmarked preference to switch the value from true to false

My Wife's computer - still on Windows 10 - says it can't start Firefox as it is still running, hitting the "close Firefox now" button just returns us to the same screen. I tried to uninstall and reinstall Firefox it tried to do a "reinstall" it says her profile is no longer available, while inconvenient she still should be able to start it up, but it still gives me the same message. that it is still running and needs closed. Trying to "close it doesn't do anything. I have restarted several times and even did a shut down and restart. Nothing seems to work. I assume some "stub" of Firefox is out there in the system/cache making Firefox think it is is still active but I can't find it to shut it down. Where do I need to go to "end task" on this phantom Firefox?

Other information: 1. We have Norton Security software installed, if that matters. 2. The same seems to happening to Thunderbird, but maybe I need to go to another help forum for that? 3. I am entering this issue from my computer that seems to be just fine with Firefox, so can't send browser data as it is irrelevant to the issue (it's on a different computer and install instance.

Since about one year I am unable to use Japanese input only in Firefox. When I try to switch with fcitx and control+space, nothing happens. However, fcitx-mocz works everywhere else on my computer (i.e. terminal, thunderbird, other browsers, etc.). Furthermore, I uninstalled fcitx and everything associated with it and reinstalled it according to this thread: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1367181 (just with mocz for Japanese). This also didn't change anything. Any help is appreciated! I started with Netscape, lived through Mozilla and then been FF ever since. I love it. But increasingly, I am running into problems with using features in many websites.

For instance with Cigna Health, you can't reset your pw and open certain other links. Cigna Support has a simple solution which has always solved my problem: use Chrome or Edge.

B&H Photo Video mostly works but for instance if you are looking at the pictures associated with a product review and try to enlarge them, FF won't do it. Chrome and Edge do it.

I am finding more and more websites that have these glitches. It's almost as if some website designers are not paying any attention to compatibility of their product with FF.

Am I missing something in the config of FF or are these issues real and likely to get worse over time? I am very worried that if it continues that I will get a message like "Many features on this website are not compatible with FireFox."

I am not a programmer but if there is anything I can do to help, I am glad to do so.

Unable to access Craigslist, Reddit, and similar sites due to SSL issues. Previously, I could click "Advance" and accept the risk to proceed, but this option is now missing. Clicking on "Advance" only displays a dropdown with an SSL error.

While I appreciate browsers prioritizing security, there should be an owner override. After all, I own my PC, and I should have the freedom to make choices, even if it means accepting potential security risks.

Did Firefox change this override option, or do we need to switch to another browser if we encounter this issue?

i am seeing the flatpack of firefox trying to roll back my install. but when i perform the download i get this.

Despite reading almost 100 questions about this exact issue asked for years, there still seems to be no answer, and no fix to get this function to work properly.

Checking the box should completely remove the drop box for location, and the entire point is that it should ask you where to save every file,instead of defaulting.

I have BitDefender and I keep getting the following notification: BitDefender blocking connection to gitcdn.xyz due to unmatching security certificate by firefox.exe. Can you please correct this?

Hi there - I accepted Firefox's prompt to "refresh" the browser and had no idea it would take away my add-ons. How do I get these back? I don't even remember what they all were, but I know they made a huge difference and now I can't believe all the ads I'm seeing and then my "facebook container" (and other kinds of container tabs) is gone too! How do I fix this? Can I undo the "refresh"??

I think you need a place where users can easily report errors. I frequently find Firefox doesn't work with some sites, or stops working where it has worked before, especially where some login or click button is required. Each time I connect to the Sam's Club website I get a popup box that says "Let us know your human (no robots allowed)" even before I try to login. There is an "X" in the upper left corner of the message that I can click on twice and the box goes away. I then can click login and my password saver fills the boxes at which time I get the same box. I click again on the X and a message says there is a problem, try again later.

how do I set LC_TIME in firefox in NixOS? firefox does not see LC_TIME (as well as timezone, but this is solved by setting the TZ variable). maybe there is some kind of variable, as in the case of TZ?

Firefox won't play YouTube videos. I've tried everything. There seem to be plenty of problems on the forum BUT NO SOLUTIONS!

Hi, it has occurred to me that I lose the browsing history of tabs that were open for a long time. By browsing history i mean the sites that show up in "Go back one page" arrow. The issue is that after a website has been open for some time (this seems to be in range of days, perhaps weeks) the browsing history of that tab is forgotten and the Go back one page arrow goes blank. I would like to be able to keep this history for eternity, is there any way to enable that?

To be clear, I use the feature to save tabs of my previous sessions and also the Simple Tab Groups extension.
